quite smooth this morning, except for a very brief (no more than 10 seconds) lag spike.

Woops, figured by now the server would have reset. Sleeping patterns are off so my perception of time is currently ruined!

Please stop closing the Abyss... it just makes people go places that absolutely cannot be played with lag and causing wipes.

Yeah, thinking its not the Abyss, we're in a massive spike atm, one of the worst yet from my experience.

It's a connection issue, it has to be. Newer hardware doesn't suddenly cause network
latency unless there's an issue with the network card drivers, or the way its connection
is configured.

Could it be something as simple as forgetting to murder Windows Firewall? :P

Unless the issue is that activity is causing the server to need more CPU/RAM than it has, in which case, server can't process to send the information back to us. As Cryptc is hosting, I'm sure he's noted the issue being the hardware capping out, which is likely why he's saying that.

I suppose. Then there's the question of why the older, less powerful server didn't have
this problem, though.

The lag is terrible right this second. It's been on and off for the last half and hour, if that helps?

what's strange is that it seems to "catch up" in fastforward after each lag spike, which would be strange for an hardware issue as lost ticks should be simply lost, not regained all of a sudden.
