With less than 6 hours to go to New Year here, I thought i'd take the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year before I get too drunk!
This year has been an excellent year for SCoD. While we haven't reached the number of players that we had in our heyday, we are in a much stronger position than we were less than a year ago.
While I will (immodestly) take credit for kickstarting the revitalization of the server, it would have been for nothing without others. Therefore i'd like to take the moment to acknowledge the following people:
cryptc: For continuing to host the server, and also never being shy to tell me when i'm being stupid.
Mr_O: Who remains a steadfast voice of reason and giving good advice to both staff and players despite having taken a back seat.
Darkrob: For agreeing to step into the admin shoes and providing a strong voice in the RP side of things.
DMs, past and present: Midnight and Sel - who both stepped down, but still provide events for players and during their tenures as DMs provided lots of events. Cere, Cadence, and LD, who maybe not running events so often, but are older DMs who share their wisdom and contribute in various ways. Cere also gets an extra shout for returning to the server and continuing to provide updates, including a rather special project she has in the works for those who struggle with creature weapons. And down to Lotus, our newest DM, but who i knew as a player and was always impressed with their levelheadedness and RP.... and ill skip Mimi for the moment, because ill get to her in a bit.
On to builders, and i've already mentioned Cere here, but we have had contributions from a wide number of players, including those who have submitted player housing. I can't mention them all individually - i can't even remember everyone who has contributed. I will single out er_nano though for special mention. I think we were all impressed with his efforts providing a new OOC room and then revising it based on player feedback, and then the Christmas version was i think a big hit as well.
A big shout out to Xndar as well. Not only did they provide us with a number of new areas, but they also provided the Gatecrasher class which i think was a big hit. And of course we found that Xndar is a budding modeller who has brought a number of new special races with custom models that have really added greatly to the server. For so long i wanted a proper Rakashka model, and Xndar delivered! Kudos!
And nope, still not mentioning Mimi.... ;)
On to the players. Guys, thank you, all of you. Without players, we have no server. Its you guys who make Sigil special.
And finally, onto Mimi, who i single out for special recognition this year. Not only has Mimi stepped up to the DM role, and has been providing events, and has contributed in terms of many new areas, she has also lifted a great burden from my by handling a lot of the build issues relating to player housing and player driven requests, including the lots of new models. Thanks to Mimi shouldering some of the effort here, its left me freer to focus on other things.
Did i miss anyone? I hope not, but if i did, sincere apologies, so many people to consider.
