People often forget that while DM events are fun, Player ran events can be as well.

Bios are neat but finding out IC and IG is even better. It can also be profitable if you know the right characters. *hint hint wink wink*.

On a serious note: Classic PnP DMing is fairly limitless. you can try pretty much anything. Does your DM always let you succeed? Not always. Sometimes, when you walk over that cliff, you really are going to fall.
But most times, your DM is someone you know pretty well. You take turns buying pizza for the night, you all joke about how Bob just snorted his coca cola, or Jessica has so many dice, she could build the Eiffel Tower...
So it's okay to make requests, and point things out, as long as you do it nicely. When you say you want to cast Prestidigitation to make your party member's corn muffin taste like rhubarb pie, your DM will probably say, "Ha ha, sure."
You can enrich and take control of your world. If you guys have personal plots that you are already running, and you just need a DM to plop a few named bad guys in the area, or set fire to something, we can do that for you. You just have to let us know, and if we're not busy, we'll try to help.
Just don't nag though!

first, I respect the points being made here about basic event couteousy and the ever (neverending) discussion on fear of death which I swear I have seen posted in almost every PW forum at one time or another. The only time I haven't ever heard this topic was on a permadeath server because people were afraid (truly afraid) of dying and xp was extremely hard to get from grinding...
With that said, my other thought on this... "What right does any other player have to tell others how or even suggest how to play their own PCs?"
You see, the thing is SCOD is probably the only place in all of NWN2 PW's that cast almost no limitations on what you can pretend to be. The DM's and the admins do not censor 95% of playerbases zanny and even at times ridiculous Character concepts or tell someone how to play their role. So why should any other player?
If someone wants to play "Mr. Invincible, Demi-god of all things powerful" let them... Who really cares? I don't, if I'm uncomfortable with the idea of rp'ing or even being around a character like that, I just avoid/ignore them... simple.
What POV said is absolutely parrallel to what I believe, don't rant, don't preach, don't push just too vindicate yourself as an "elite rp zealot". Lead by example, quietly and with some tactfullness. No one needs to beat their chest about who knows best on how to RP someone elses character...
If someone doesn't take death seriously, that's their perogative, if someone wants to be a dick to a DM or act obnoxiously, let the DM deal with them and deliver the consequences. If someone feels railroaded and complains because the consequences of harsh action equals their assanitity, I fail to see where I could care less about said player, so why comment about it?
I like SCOD the way it is, it's liberal and not some draconian "elitist" world where everyone reacts the same way to death because "their suppose to be afraid". If I wanted that, i could easily select the many other PW's that offer unchangeable lore, limited character races with no opportunity to even imitate a non-offered one, limited class selection due to lore restraints, static world that is unchangeable, and players forced and railroaded to RP a certain way by staff and other elitist players.
I hope that this does not ever turn into that but posts like this sometimes make me cringe because it is a rant that is trying to gain sympathy and force a one sided view on how we as players should interact to the environment given to us.

*cough cough* Never said do it this away, just thoughts. I'd never tell someone how to play their character. I do however, love to give constructively mean criticism.
