I suppose I could have just resorted to thread Necromancy and bump my old D&D post, but I thought I might be able to get a few more interested participants in this spin-off topic.
The desire to run an online tabletop D&D game is still there. Yes, I'm taking a super long time throwing something together, because I haven't done something like this before.
I don't know Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, or any typical D&D campaign setting well enough to just drop a module down into some random terrain/climate acceptable location and call it a day, and quite frankly it's less rewarding than coming up with something on your own.
Home-brewing something seemed like the way to go, currently I'm in the process of creating something (Which I think is) interesting. BUT! I came across this little interesting game.
It's called "Dawn of Worlds", It's a game which the players are Gods, and they take turns spending power points by altering/creating/destroying certain aspects of a world. There is no real "winner" to the game. It's entire purpose to, well, create a world, and some history to it.
Here is a link to the rules.

No, That specifically is not D&D, but I couldn't help but have the thought that the players having a hand in the creation of a world for future D&D games to take place in, would be quite fun.
The participants would know the major parts of history, They'd know part of the pantheon of deities, and the geography. Hell, even those not even interested in the future tabletop D&D sessions are welcome, they could even use the created world as a basis for their own character that ends up in Sigil , or DMs could use it as a subplot.
Anyone interested? Or am I just insane? I'm looking for at minimum 3 or 4 other players, and I don't think there is a limit on how many are welcome to join.
The time and date will be set according to the schedule of the interested party, and we'll likely be using OpenRPG 1.8+
You can find the client here. http://www.rpgobjects.com/index.php?c=orpg&m=getorpg
Note: The auto-updater "feature" of OpenRPG is a bit unresponsive, just let it do it's thing until it opens up. Takes a few minutes. Yeah, It's a bit clunky, but It's a lot easier to figure out than learning MapTools.
D&d Tabletop And Dawn Of Worlds.

i am as well, i will look over the pdf over the next few days.
just reading the blurb in your post gives me ideas with what to go with...
The conversation starts here
but i wont say which of those three gods inspired my potential character for this game.
(if people like humor and god/god-like elements check this place out, but the linked storyline was the most relevant to what i was saying at the beginning of my post)

Awesome, Recruitment for this game isn't closed with four interested people, More are definitely welcome. . .but we can go ahead and start setting up a date for when we can all get together and play.
Shall we shoot for this Saturday or Sunday? But I am open for just about any time.
Thursday, June 10th is bad for me this week, At least the afternoon is.
I'm in Central Standard -5 GMT. When a date and time is set, I'll post it here, with the server name, password and such so more participants can join or just merely watch if they want to.
and if you don't know what kind of deity you wish to play, We'll just let actions speak to determine what kind of personality/domains your deity has control over after the session. Based on what you created, manipulated and destroyed. Etc.

the saturdays i am free are weird and infrequent. (EST, btw gmt -5). otherwise i am free mon/wed/thurs afternoon/nites. but every-other friday may open up in the next week or so.
if everyone else is pretty much only available on sat, i'll just watch when i am free.
and i really like the idea of free-forming it the first session, and then locking into what type of god/powers one has.

My friends and I played out the creation thingy earlier today. Needless to say 10 rounds of an age took us most of the day :P Lots of fun though.
Turn 1 first move was a catastrophe <.< Before anything was even put down.
