Boot's magic simply can not be utilized by a non-monk PC for example (for some magical reason it wont be beneficial for you to improve your 'unarmed monk-style combat stance' as a rogue)? So they are just... like non-magical boots.

Perhaps. UMD is sort of "Changing the shoelaces" here, and knowing, how to tie them each time, without damaging your boots in combat/traveling.FiveWhats,Jul 29 2016 wrote: What if my definition of use magic device in this case is being taught the correct stances to use these boots without being an actual martial artist? Is that bad roleplay?

It is completely inconceivable that the much more skilled combatant learn the less skilled combatants techniques, I admit.Shadowcryer,Jul 29 2016 wrote:Monk's basics and Barbarian ones are different. I thought it is obvious. It is not about AB. Roleplaying is more deep, than a simple mechanics, sir.Tomekk,Jul 29 2016 wrote: Ahh, so a character who has much greater combat skills (High BAB) doesn't know basic stances (Medium BAB). Makes sense!

Not everyone should to be aware, how to change magical shoelaces on magical boots and utilise their magic, to be able to wear these boots without destroying them or something...FiveWhats,Jul 29 2016 wrote: So, if it's that easily justifiable, what's the problem with UMD or tumble?
