That actually sounds like it could be a complex edition of Munchkin, Jelkia. ;)

I have a friend who runs a campaign much like this Jelkia, some of the players in his game are total munchkins but he makes it work somehow. Pun Pun style characters just don't work for a conventional adventure setting. Also, this is the first time I've ever heard of Pun Pun. Godalia, when I said interesting, I didn't mean intentionally overpowered for a setting.

Isn't that the whole IDEA behind powerbuilding? The player intentionally picks the abilities/feats/whatever that ARE overpowered for their build. I mean, come on...that's basically the whole point here!Vandole,Jun 3 2016 wrote: when I said interesting, I didn't mean intentionally overpowered.

This thread has become more than that. I suggest you read this post: http://z13.invisionfree.com/nwn2planesc ... p=22796203Vandole,Jun 3 2016 wrote: Is it? - Again, this thread is about balancing fighters.

Good lord man, I'm trying to get things back on Topic. - If people are going to make that impossible I'd like to openly ask this thread be closed as it's served its purpose.rapsam2003,Jun 3 2016 wrote:This thread has become more than that. As for Ceremorph's balancing act, perhaps a new thread can be opened in continuation of its discussion - IN A CIVIL MANNER *Hisssssss*

I would hazard a guess that the campaign was specifically designed where the players would have that much power, and so the DM specifically had ways to control what was and was NOT valid. Ultimately, the DM is god of the game. The "senior" staff fit the role of DM as god on this server.Jelkia,Jun 3 2016 wrote: Played 3.5 campaigns where every player was ah different god controllin different planes an realms. There was plenty ah RP ta be had. Power don't make nor break RP happenin.
The DM's job in PnP is to encourage roleplay, ultimately, by facilitating the story and controlling the monsters. This can and does include not allowing the player to cheese the rules or exploit things without roleplay consideration.

Allowing easy tricks to exist, which allow players to play barefaced and over any imaginable power, is not a decrease to roleplay (in D&D at least) but a factual inducement to avoid it.Jelkia,Jun 3 2016 wrote:What ah'm trying ta say is that power level don't increase er decrease possible RP. That's up ta tha player regardless ah what they're playin.

I'm not commenting the second part in your quote, I had enough d&d-blasphemies in my life and my heart can't stand any more of them.

No less so than your reasoning. You're the one who tried to say, "Look, here's a hero in a movie" and seemed to discount the whole reason why the hero in a martial arts film would be a badass. You applied faulty logic in an attempt to prove your point first, friend.Taihou,Jun 3 2016 wrote:That is sophistics.rapsam2003,Jun 3 2016 wrote: The man in that film was not a badass because he just happened to pick up 1 level of a class that didn't even make sense, like 1 level of Shadowdancer. From a real world perspective, training as a thief, when one is a specialized warrior...that doesn't work. You won't be great at either role; you'll be average at both. The hero in that scene spent years training to become that good at combat. He didn't let anything distract him from his goal of having a disciplined mind and body.
Yes, our PCs are Planeswalkers. Yes, we can and should become badass. No, we should not end up with builds with level 1 of cleric specifically for the purpose of grabbing EDM. It makes no sense, from a pure RP perspective.
