Disqualified for use of power builds! I knew I should have given those monsters 99 spot.... :D
The darkness (plus mist) was quite intentional... a multilevel dungeon where it's hard to see the other levels seemed an interesting challenge. I'm hoping that a feeling of foreboding or doom was involved, in addition to the frustration...
What I'd really like, however, is some feedback to the puzzles. This was my first try at a puzzle-dungeon, and I'm interested to see if the sheer time I put into them was appreciated, or if everybody hates me now... :D
If they were enjoyed, I find it likely that puzzle-dungeons (which actually give XP for solving puzzles) for other level groups may appear in the future (Mechanus would be a suitable location for one, or a trapped wizard's tower in the astral).

Low-mid areas of Niffleim - spawns of the wraiths are few and far between, could do with a few more.
Says level 5-7, ok I went in with my shaman at level 8 or 9? had to run around quite a bit to finally get 2 to pop up and far away from each other (first area). Could be that a group had just gone by but, seemed low...and then nothing in the second area, just before Death of Innocence village.
I would suggest a bit more frequency or a few more, for interest. They are wide/large areas to run about in.
Edited: ie. most people will be passing through for the epic area. on the path...allow more off the beaten track for those that want to linger for the lower spawns.

Successfully soloed it today, I don't have a screenshot, but Ceremorph already knows Dom's little trick to solving the puzzle.
The first attempt was done on update day, in which Dom got obliterated by his high caster level Disjunction and then long lasting Clenched Fist (Which proceeded to kill me five or six times after I had respawned!)
Edit: (Doing it again just for screenshots and bragging rights!)
Unfortunately couldn't manage to the embarrassing thing and Petrify him. He went Ethereal.

You make it sound like it was a malicious choice "I know I know, I'll let familiars do it but not summons MUAHAHAHA" :Pmandnick,Aug 2 2010 wrote: Right, summons can't activate the plate but familiars can? Sounds silly to me and not really fair

To roughly quote from Ceremorph , Familiars are flagged as PCs, because the caster can possess them. I'm not sure if there would be away to disable that feature without destroying familiars. - It's the first time, game mechanic wise I've got a use out of one.
The first run through, my familiar had gotten squished, and so I tried to do summons to activate pressure plates. - Fortunately I crashed and upon re-entry my familiar ability was refreshed. (Although the boss squished me anyway.)

Yes, exactly my point, Ceremorph you're criminal mastermind!cryptc,Aug 2 2010 wrote:You make it sound like it was a malicious choice "I know I know, I'll let familiars do it but not summons MUAHAHAHA" :P
Seriously though, it is sure obvius that the it's the game mechanics to blame, still odd that a tiny cute rabbit can push hard enough the plate to open the door, while the big strong earth elemental or some kind of demon/devil just can't do it :)

I don't know, Fiona (The kitty familiar in the picture) is pretty epic!

Not sure how much an Air Elemental would push on it though :P (yes I did see that attempt as DM :P, was curious if it would work too)mandnick,Aug 2 2010 wrote: Seriously though, it is sure obvius that the it's the game mechanics to blame, still odd that a tiny cute rabbit can push hard enough the plate to open the door, while the big strong earth elemental or some kind of demon/devil just can't do it :)
