That sounds like a great idea.Tomekk,Aug 16 2016 wrote:Favored Class: Any for all races? :rolleyes:cryptc,Aug 16 2016 wrote: ...If there had been any way to turn off multiclass xp penalties and write our own instead that would helped quite a bit with those cases....
I never even understood the purpose of this "multiclass" penalty in the first place, just one of the many instances where Obsidian (or was it from PnP as well?) had to be annoying because you just can't have fun while playing a game, you must suffer for it as well.

If 57 AC isn't enough in the Carceri, that's perhaps a little excess, assuming you aren't being surrounded at the time. The limit should for Farastus to be somewhere along lines 55 since that's accessible enough with improved expertise and +5 protection items with fullplate and tower shield, you only need 2 more from where ever. If you are being surrounded with that AC, without other proper tangible protection and struggle, then that's fine by me, since a large group of enemies will have 5% chance to hit you constantly anyway, and just their numbers are enough to do that harm for you.
Also 45 AC isn't a tank, that's just equipped fighter with basic +5 AC gear. Infact that's not true, one of those would get 48 AC, if using tower shield. And being a fighter/melee character doesn't automatically make you a tank, that needs more dedication into defense than just equipping expected items.

That would make every race equal to humans in that respect, which doesn't solve the problem, just pushes it slightly. If you have three classes with different levels then even humans get the XP penalty.Tomekk,Aug 16 2016 wrote:Favored Class: Any for all races? :rolleyes:cryptc,Aug 16 2016 wrote: ...If there had been any way to turn off multiclass xp penalties and write our own instead that would helped quite a bit with those cases....
Although it would be an improvement I agree... except we'd need to manually add all favored classes into xp script and check based on race ourselves... kinda painful way to solve some of the problem.

3 base classes is kind of pushing it when you have so many PrCs, I don't think 95% of the builds ever need that.cryptc,Aug 16 2016 wrote:That would make every race equal to humans in that respect, which doesn't solve the problem, just pushes it slightly. As for making them equal to Humans, well... Humans are mostly picked for LA 0, 1 feat and 1 skill. The ability to more freely multiclass is just the cherry on the cake. Besides, don't you agree that in a vast multiverse where anything is possible, its rather silly that all Elves can either be Wizards or suffer for it? :P

PrCs don't add to xp penalties in any way, allegedly. Prestige (and therefore Racial classes) aren't supposed to count towards the calculation.

Exactly what I thought when I read that. :PTomekk,Aug 16 2016 wrote:Favored Class: Any for all races? :rolleyes:cryptc,Aug 16 2016 wrote: ...If there had been any way to turn off multiclass xp penalties and write our own instead that would helped quite a bit with those cases....

A proposed solution that solves 90% of the problem while adding a minor "problem" (this is debatable, it may not be a problem at all), sounds like a nearly optimal solution to me and for sure a vast improvement over the current situation.cryptc,Aug 16 2016 wrote: Yeah that is a point... but it's a really a proposed solution that solves 90% of the problem, and then adds another minor problem... so I'm not saying it's a terrible idea, but it just somewhat misses its target somewhat.
