There's only one person whose behavior everyone can directly affect to, thyself, my suggestion is to look for solutions from that end. Anything else is an attempt to inspire others to go with your ideas, which really just ties to the first sentence.
I've made a bunch of characters and only constant in that is to find a character with traits that appeal to other characters/players. Some of my characters, despite initially seeming like a cool concept, have been utter failures that never quite kicked off. Other characters have had relatively easy access to become central figures in plots. And naturally some which are neither here nor there.
So I'd just say that look for ways to make your character interesting and involve others, and they'll involve you in turn. Nothing's for granted in a game of influence.

For anyone who is interested, IC, Morthos is sending letters to the Harmonium and the Mercykillers to see about organizing against the Raven Queen. He spoke with a Harmonium member, Juna, who seemed interested. I know Taurus's Dace is interested in the Fey Attacks. If folks want to get involved in this, PM me. We'll set some RP up IG. Also, Argent mentioned something about "being bait", so he'll probably involve Argent. And a few others. The more who are involved, the better I say.
Morthos' motivation is that he doesn't want to the Raven Queen become a deity. He's pragmatic enough that he doesn't care who or what he works with, if it prevents that. Considering how the Raven Queen's actions have been vile so far, I suspect most PCs on the server would oppose her (except maybe Destruction Sinkers).

I dunno maybe people are tired?
that sounds reasonable. I know there are only so many times you can hear "Tiamat is descending upon the town" until just seeing the name makes you tired.
During D&D 3.5 people got tired of this thing called RSE which got as frequent of a few every month I think. It ended in the cosmic melodrama of one god accidentally killed another god because he slept with his goddess, and ohhh it was just awful. Then it all ended in a spell plague and an entire nation blowing up because magic stopped functioning and they had a lot of magic and flying ships powered by magic....
So I can see how people get tired of it too. The only events I've experienced directly are the small scale ones. Morthos planting an Athar flag in Celestia that was unnoticed until a later EM event in the same area led to so much unintended role play. Luckily war was averted otherwise there might be another war going on only a few know about.

To be fair, I figured the server would reset before anything crazy happened.Strawberry Jam,Jul 12 2016 wrote: Morthos planting an Athar flag in Celestia that was unnoticed until a later EM event in the same area led to so much unintended role play. Edit: Letters sent.

Explaining to people that they are a moron is one of Aleis's favorite things to do!

I think in terms of scale and keeping things sane people running events might want to reconsider staging it in and around Sigil when considering an outside threat.
Here are some plot ideas I would expect for Sigil:
1. Cranium rats on the rise, hive mind seeping up from the sewers
2. X new gang is on the rise, mugging and pick pocketting, and displacing other street gangs
3. The Dustment just unearthed an ancient necropolis below the streets, they can't contain all the hostile undead spilling on the streets
4. X power wants X artifact located in Sigil, their fixer hires a few PC's to break into a vault or home and then let them take the wrap
5. Renowned planeswalker goes missing, follow the clues to find out what happened
6. Erin Montgomery was taken prisoner by dwarves when she wanted to experience free solo climbing of the Dwarven Mountain in the Outlands, part is sent to jail break
7. Cultists of undersigil have been taking people, nobody knows why
An event has to consider the locality of the issue and the scope of the effect. If the event affects every single person in Sigil or even every single person of a particular race/class/type put lots of forethought into reasonable repercussions. Particularly answer the questions:
1. Why is Sigil so important to this?
2. Would this reasonably attract the negative attention of the lady?
3. Am I imposing penalties and singling people out with no benefit and no involvement?
4. In relation to everything going on in the entire multiverse, how big of a deal is this really? (proportionality)
Now doing something on Brux is a world--nay a plane(pun)--of difference from doing something that impacts Sigil. For one thing gods and their agents can actually enter the plane without dividing the multiverse by zero.
To say that Sigil is in a state of war is such a bold statement with many (possibly unintended) repercussions. The Harmonium in a state of war, the Mercykillers, the Doomguard. These are acceptable notions. But the entire city? The Fated? Even the Lady of Pain? And the Xaoists and Anarchists? The Dustmen too? And the Bleakers care why exactly?
Keeping cataclysmic events or wars outside of Sigil naturally avoids these inconvenient questions and reactions. If an outside threat targets Sigil directly, of course it raises eyebrows, causes outbursts, makes ppl grumpy, or they ignore.
Ignoring an event might actually spare all parties from reasonable repercussions that they might not actually want to deal with. After all if only 10 people can stop a god or a war host then maybe it wasn't such a big deal in the end?
Maybe if there was a rule that a cataclysmic event requires at least 5 committed DM/EM staff. That would spread the focus on more than a handful of characters and ensure the event doesn't go int a half dead limbo state, with ppl disagreeing if it ever happened at all?
But just knowing if this is a currently supported active plotline would be helpful. Maybe a sticky thread with list of only active plotlines, brief summary, hooks for characters to get involved, and the EM's associated with them? Just an idea =)

I fail to understand how I'm insulting anyone? But if you're really looking to besmirch me time and time again, I'll underline the parts which point out that I'm not insulting anybody in my previous post.wrote:Insulting the rest of us or what? Have you considered that players are keeping in touch via pm with interacting with npcs? Or they dont have reason to share all this information? Maybe its not intended to be server wide event, but intended for those that are interested in this sort of thing?
Ahem, back to the relevant discussion.wrote:ty ty for reading. This post is DIRECTLY aimed at DMs running the plot line. Not player opinions, not builder or scripters opinions, the DMs running the plot. This doesn't mean I don't find others opinions not useful or helpful to this discussion, but at the end of the day, if I don't hear from the DM supposed to be offering guidance on this plot, my questions ultimately remain unanswered.
I'm getting the feeling you're not actually reading what I'm posting, or simply misinterpreting it. So I'll say it more plainly.wrote:Really, nobody is owed the entire story of the plotline on whim because you been gone all this time. it comes off as a sense of entitlement when its not
A simple article in the SIGIS (the popular newspaper of Sigil), after a major plotline event, would not only help more players get involved, but also offer a foundation of information for ALL characters to work with.
This doesn't have to be EVERYTHING currently at large crammed into one article, but rather, multiple articles over the course of the ENTIRE PLOT
We good now? ty ty.
Previous posts did state there were about 15-20 players at that event, if there wasn't, that's not an issue. The number is rather irrelevant. We can't have everyone attending each event.wrote:No, 15-20 people were not present for the Krynn event.
However, it has been stated, although unfortunately remains unconfirmed by a DM on this thread, that this is the Main Server Plot at this point in time. If that is so, unless I'm terribly mistaken, the main story plot for the server should be accessible on even grounds for all players, IG, IC, without resorting to forum PMs, as Not Every Player uses the forums.
I'm very sorry if anyone has been offended with my posts, but their only intention is to offer suggestions and ask questions which should lead, to a quality of life improvement for all players on the server, concerned with joining in.

Its not a "main" server plot as most of the excursions been outside of Sigil. Of course certain pcs in factions have gained the help of their..faction. Or its a way to let other players know that something is going on. Its not required that anyone write in the Sigis of oh the fey attacked again. Its continious, its a plot intended to conclude after a year.
Also considering theres an IC group that /keeps/ all the information on record? Thats not the job of the dms or those not invested to keep sprouting it. You could ask the ic group thats heading it. But since a lot of the attacks are on the outside just as much as in the inside? Its not that large in the grand scale of things.
Seriously, any event could been a "major" event and if you happen miss it then ..well I dont know what the issue is. Sigil still stands.
Thanks for telling us our opinions mean nothing because it didnt come straight from the dm when lot of us do pm back and forth about information. As for others not using the forums ..cant help them. It gets talked about all the time.
