4e is an improvement on 3e IMO. Fun battles, melee classes staying useful throughout the campaign(Even with spells per day requirement, a party full of wizards/clerics is better than having a rogue of fighter), more interesting classes(The change between Sorc and Wizard is a massive improvement) and streamlined spell books.

It requires a different flavor of RP from 3.5, not less or more. The same arguments against 4e were used from 2e to 3e(mostly).

The only system better than 4e IMO was the original deadlands system. Drawing cards was fun D:

Like most WoTC efforts they'll dump a lot of addons into the market that will be nothing more than half hearted attempts to wrest more cash for folks...

Nope... I think 2nd edition is as new as I get in Tabletop...

... and yes... I know I'm old :sleepy:
That's what they did!

Oh yea.. make sure Chuck Norris isn't under your bed, i sent him your way

Oh and same also goes for 2nd edition btw... abusewise... I prefer 3.x because of the smoothness of the system, not more/less abuses...

4rd edition is actually really fun if you don't let the usual D&D new edition nerd rage cloud your judgement.

4th edition is actually fun if instead of thinking of it as DnD you think of it as a completely new PnP rpg.

We shouldn't have to think it's not DnD.

If I wanted a fun semi-rpg I'd instead go for something that doesn't take itself very seriously, like this http://www.koboldsatemybaby.com/index.html (which is really fun btw)

So D&D isn't the game you play when you want to have fun with some friends? Then what is the point of playing it? If 4rd edition is a semi-rpg than what is a full-rpg? The stuff White Wolf makes? If things like that are full-rpgs then I'm glad to have never played one.

oh I waited a long time to buy them also got them at a used book store. I mostly wanted to review their rules.

3.0 and 3.5 gave lots of freedom to players to build and customise classes. while in 2e I have to try to remember how things worked hahaha.

4e seems just like going to a restaurant that used to be all you can eat. Now instead you have to choose what table you sit at and can only eat from certain stations. Some might say its been simplified sadly I do not understand all the rules yet after reading it for this long. 3.5 did not take this long to figure out nor 2e.

3.0 and 3.5 released TONS of books for fun stuff feats, classes, items, or history.

Yesterday I decided to read the DmG.....all I had to say was WTF..... (please see the player hand book for treasure tables) oh here is 3 artifacts and an overly long discussion on how to run a campaign what kind of players to expect and how to cater to them...Also why bother writing up a personal story just buy a book the save time.

Seems they had an idea never got it fully organised, split it up and slow leaked it to milk everyone for what it was worth.

now 3.+ was far from perfect after 20 its pretty messed up plus there are some easily abusive stuff. *cough* war shaper*cough* vow of poverty *cough* Though it had freedom...this not so much.
