Am I really missing something, or is PvP becoming increasingly an issue, judging by all these posts? o_0
Can't we all just stick to *** over NPCs and having fun that way, rather than trying to screw someone's character over and having fun at their expense?

This from the spell compendium springs to mind.
In the first round, you can tell that there are undead auras in that cone. In the second round, you can tell how many undead auras are in that cone and the strength of the strongest aura there. In the third round, the relative strength and location of all undead auras in that cone, though if any are out of your line of sight, you only know their general direction.
Only in 1st edition was it an aura. From that point on, it was always a concentrated forward facing spell, either a corridor or a cone, that gave non-exact information and required relative focus.
That being said, if people are that opposed to this favorite homebrew spell being removed, countermeasures are a great alternative. There's dozens. If you want to test whether someone is an undead IC as opposed to OOC, interact with them.
So it would be preferable if it only worked on things in front of you? As I understand it still a sixty foot range in nwn. We could always give it a delayed casting time to simulate three rounds of concentration. It's still going to allow you to spot an undead without a save.
Not the point you are trying to make though I don't think. You are more concerned that it allows undead to be spotted without them having a chance to save it hence my suggestion of some sort of compromise that would allow undead a fighting chance against it.
As for everyone's favourite homebrew spell I beg to differ. Word of Faith and IGMS spring to mind :P

Actually, that's another prime example. I'd forgotten about that one, but yes. Pretty frequent (so far as the infrequent pvp goes). The pre-fight buff cuz you know OOCly that it's coming is pretty lame. If you want to fight all prepped up, that's what the arena is for, or call it a duel.
And the ass comment really doesn't need explained anymore than it already has been.

Ah now you'll make people angry if you touch those.Midnight,Jul 6 2016 wrote: As for everyone's favourite homebrew spell I beg to differ. Word of Faith and IGMS spring to mind :P

I'm curious if invisibility could give you the ability to "hips", or rather just stealth, since you're not visible anymore, and it would be a more realistic representation too (since if you turn invisible infront of someone you'd still need to move silently for them to not realize where you are moving), although ideally you should auto succeed the hide check (against anyone without see invisible)Mr_Otyugh,Jul 5 2016 wrote: Actually, I'm curious if invisibility could be made to just literally make you invisible right away? Not let you be seen if someone saw you cast it. I mean... it's the same effect except without metagaming.
As for metagaming, yeah. It's occasionally very prevalent unfortunately. Usually it's better to keep tabs of the information sources, confront people who seem to know things they shouldn't (in tells) and ask where they heard that, see if there's any validity to their claims. Which, yes, is very annoying... it's much easier to metagame than it is to find out if it is metagaming.

This so much, it's silly hehe. I hate having to almost break the 4th wall when I need to explain IC that I'm a shadow cast on the wall/floor and not a blurry person. :lol:Neethanial,Jul 5 2016 wrote: By the way, this includes refusing to acknowledge that there are hard coded bugs such as still being visible while invisible if it's cast in the same zone.
Tho shadow body is basically a cross between perma hips and ethrealness in table top. It says you can remain hidden while casting powers with a +15 to your hide check. Here it's just invisibility that reapplies itself and can be beat with see invis.

Hrm, well. I'll only say that I had a lot of fun when people thought Moras was a vampire. Especially when he wasn't. I've also never had fun or satisfying roleplay come out of anybody casting Detect Undead. At any point. Ever. I feel much the same way about people metagaming nonevil alignment via the Mercuria door, people miraculously treating shapeshifters differently after they crash and relog and are forced to drop form by that particular bug, and constantly referring any IC request to their other PCs.

I mean ... not roleplaying your character sheet is kind of like your own burden that you accept, especially if you take it t extreme lengths.
