I believe the PvP Club concept raised some time ago in another thread was thought to be contrary to the current server rules that 'requires' OOC consent for all PvP/CvC and I do not think the DMs wished for such a rule change.

There is an arena for folks wishing to just fight. The server rules are pretty simple.

Some people like to roll stats, some like to just rp it out, some like to smush with big mallet. Until you speak to the other player you never know what they expect/want.

Just as people have personal rules for builds so do they for rp. Secret is to communicate to decrease OOC problems.

I have been known to send tells if my character is mouthy to make sure I did not upset the other player. Its my rp level of comfort.

A wise person once said "A PW exist for everyone not just one person, so seek to create fun for others".

Rp truly needs no rules due to its using imagination. Though as adults we need rules to keep from bickering most rules also deal with combat. The other reason PW's have rules is to keep a coherent story.

Basically we all have a rp level of comfort what we are willing to Rp or do that we enjoy to what annoys or is not enjoyable. To figure that out we have to speak to the other person, and work within those boundaries.

I could say more though I have prattled on to long and then folks will not read it :P

I wouldn't support a "PvP Club." But...

Here's a thought. If you are personally okay with someone attacking you in PvP without asking for your consent, you can always just have an OOC note put into your character description (at the top) so that people will see this when they examine your character.

Edit: But be warned that by doing so, you may open your character up to situations you may later regret, since we do get the occasional pickpocketers and PvP enthusiasts who would love nothing more than to smash some PC faces in. ;)

The staff isn't accountable for that.

Leaving a note is not wise because it's not mutual consent. If I put a note on my bio page saying "ok" doesn't mean the person attacking me will say they aren't "ok" with it when I retaliate and either they start loosing or have to run from the conflict. It's one sided, unless both parties waive away their rights to complain about an unplanned attack.

I really don't see the harm because I have been in other servers as well that have organizations like this which keeps the participating portion of the playerbase happy and within boundaries. As I said before, it would still respect the rule of CvC "must have IC reasoning" to prevent players from ganking each other for amusement.

I think mature players can handle themselves knowing that they signed a waiver of consent; mutually, with others who share the same interests in resolving conflict with the game engine. It also lessens the amount of complaints since both parties had agreed to be a part of it knowing the consequences ahead of time, which means less complaints filed to the staff. It also provides documentation for the staff to show who actually agreed and that any complaints/disputes OOC prior to the signing of the agreement would be invalid.

And you can always take your character of the list if you don't wish to participate any longer. The only shortcoming of a program like this is that we still have a relatively small playerbase with the majority not interested in violent conflict between PC's.
