Its a bit the same with people having as much resources as the godmsen or the doomguard when it comes to making up great projects. Its almost like local production doesn't have any advantage, while it clearly does.Sinlinara,Oct 23 2016 wrote:While I do recognize that that misunderstanding exists, my specific complaint was that seemingly anyone, including people outside of the faction, can obtain them without incurring any real cost. Sensory Stones do not leave the faction hall, Do not work outside of the faction hall, cannot be acquired outside the faction hall and cannot be replicated. The only exception to this is in the case of DM/EM events.

Well my point was that they can't, However obviously not something that can or is actively policed by the staff. My suggestion is simple disbelief, like all things not actually IG player consent is required. While Sensory stones are real, the ability to buy them is not.wrote:While I do recognize that that misunderstanding exists, my specific complaint was that seemingly anyone, including people outside of the faction, can obtain them without incurring any real cost. Might need and example for this one.wrote:Its a bit the same with people having as much resources as the godmsen or the doomguard when it comes to making up great projects. Its almost like local production doesn't have any advantage, while it clearly does.

I feel like this might be slightly pointed in my direction. Out of fairness, you probably don't want Aleis to actually have access to the resources that the Godsmen have. She'd be campaigning to do something silly like create a Sigilian Underground Railway. And that would just be the beginning.Hydra,Oct 23 2016 wrote: Its a bit the same with people having as much resources as the godmsen or the doomguard when it comes to making up great projects. No no, it's not especially pointed in anyone's direction, I see it more as a systemic problem I've been pondering for years and people's reactions are just a consequence of that.Sinlinara,Oct 23 2016 wrote:I feel like this might be slightly pointed in my direction. I mean crafting is available to everyone and it's all good but sometimes you get the impression that there's just no added benefit, even purely IC to be in a faction that is specialized in crafting, nor any actual opportunity or acknowledgment coming from that fact. It's very rare godsmen are actually sought to get into any building projects, since everything PCs actually need can be done via crafting or magically bought with a lot of gold. There have been events where they've been asked to provide essential equipment, but it's usually very rare.
I'm not saying godsmen should have a monopoly on crafting or have mechanical advantage, that'll be counter productive, but if something could be set to give them the highlight in that particular aera that'll help to drive some RP their way instead of being completely ignored that'll be quite helpfull. Same with other factions and their respective specialities.

It sounds to me like you could use a campaign for an underground railway system. I'm sure that some aspiring Godsman could work out something along those lines.

I'd like if some factions were offered some opportunities to not be left to die in a corner, because lack of opportunities do not attract players and some factions are just ignored even when they have active players.
Also it'll be nice to recognize that some factions have a theme and are just better at doing certain things, and not great for others and that factions have to seek other's help/collaboration because they aren't self-sufficient in every domain.
Examples :
- You need a good network of information : indeps.
- You need people who are welcome almost everywhere and are talented craftsmen : godsmen
- You need a large and efficient military force : harmonium.
- You need to sort out dead people or undead matters : dustmen.
- You need a balanced and unbiased opinion to solve a dispute : transcendent order
- You need experts in destruction (to evaluate or actually destroy) : doomguards
- You have a problem with a deity ? : athars
- You're looking for someone to bring back a criminal ? : mercykillers.
Etc...

What Hydra said is a brilliant idea. Right now, the Triad and Fated are the only ones with real 'jobs' in the City. If we extend some (un)official speciality to each faction, we'd have more people to turn to for getting stuff done.
Also, it might help if each faction had an active DM.
