I was just thinking of a rebuild for my shroom into the new race/prc and while debating various combos to try to achieve the same previous build playstyle and RP,
One of my first reflexes was "hmm, well I'll just aim for the Brazen and it'll solve 1/2 these AC and damage issues"...
Then, having not equipped that set for a very very long time, I did a quick search to find the stats. The search showed that Brazen is almost a go-to recommendation for soooooo many builds. Top recommended set. Not to mention the acknowledged loopholes such as lack of cooldown (item).
That might suggest that this set is very much overdue for a change.
Am I the only one who cares? Probably.
Should Brazen Set Be Toned Down?

I don't even know what Brazen set is. :(

Honestly, in most cases I would opt for a normal set of gear, rather than a Brazen Set. The main point being that losing 2 regen is not worth it for a few shiny tricks that ultimately do nothing.

Nooo!
But actually, yeah, probably =) Although not the ac. The AC bonus provides an alternate route for getting AC on par with the monk boots, but not UMDing. The bugged feat could probably stand to come off of it, and it'd still be spectacular.
Neutral, I understand what you're saying, but the first thought when I read his post was "Mother of god, that guy thinks aurorum gear is 'normal!' =P Made me chuckle.

It is good if you can't wear the monk boots. Though you lose touch AC, which is the main problem for me. The 30 SR is really nice for non-planars, but for others it's a moot point. All in all, it's only situationally useful.

You're right - if you're able to get your hands on truly top tier end game stuff, brazen gets passed in many respects. I do love the theme of it, though =) It's a pretty well-executed set.

In my case, I was thinking of it for the blazing aura. An epic feat that is actually pretty hard to get via character feat selection and not necessarily so effective when you do manage to fit it in. One of two combat damage feats that actually bypasses all damage resistances.
I suppose the overall 3AC is worth considering for not using it, if you don't want the aura.
The set AC and con boost also are pretty decent, as is the fire resist. Cold is never truly a negative for SCoD except in one spot and even there it's a non-issue by the time you get the set together. And being of a top-tier armor (Plate), there is little compromise to suffer.
Re touch: With plate, you are aiming for low dex anyways...so base 10 +5 deflection +5 dodge +3 tumble + 1 dex is not going to do much unless mob BAB and stat bonuses are near to 0.
-so for these numbers = each point lower than 23 gives +5% chance to not get hit.
You are better off vs RTA with a shield for the % ranged conceal (which I'll assume includes RTA - never tested it), or vs RTA/TA with some magic conceal like a wand of displacement or a potion of ghostly visage.
Edit: duh ...Brazen stats are in the wiki pages, silly me

Blazing aura probably shouldn't be on an item, honestly. That said, I sorta feel like the requirements for that particular epic feat should be toned down or reworked because pretty much no one's going to go for it without crippling themselves unless they're a zen archery monk.

Seriously, I was thinking the same thing about blazing aura until I played a character with the Brazen set. And found that due to its short duration, most of the time I wasn't even bothering with it because even with that bypassing damage, it really doesn't make that big of a difference, and you have to lose a round to activate it.

Brazen is not OP, even by accident. Possibly one of the most interesting items in the game. If you have used it and it's the very best you've had then I will tell you that you can get better.
Is it too OP for your level 1 shroom remake? That decision is up to you but you can regularly see people with remakes in full sets of far better gear tearing up Under Sigil.
