I was wondering, what's the stance on having some jerk follow me and pick up all the drops from mobs I kill.
Am I automatically allowed (IC) to just um, murder, destroy and vaporize such an annoyance?
What about OOC take on this?
Loot Stealing

You'll want to be explicit with the consent, i'll leave final interpretation up to DMs, but I'd go with "((If you don't want to reply RP and continue stealing my characters loot, I will take it as an agreement to PvP consent))" or something along those lines. The consent should be explicit and not implicit after all, the OOC message is a deterrent them to either acknowledge to cease and desist, or choose to go down the route of PvP.

I think pvp is good RP, there are lots of people that shirk consequences. I believe some spculate that the Japanese society of honor and shame arose from the real risk of offending people armed with weapons. There is a stigma around pvp as less than rp for some reason, but you can set your pvp status on the scry tool. On the other hand people role play slavery, murder, cannibalism, kidnapping, and other things without much consent which is a little bizarre to me. But you can probably get away with pvp if you give the warning as said by others.

Two reasons:Strawberry Jam,May 15 2016 wrote: There is a stigma around pvp as less than rp for some reason,
1. PvP is driven by uneven mechanics. If I'm a min/maxed EDM Divine Power cleric/stormlord with maxed spot and you're a L30 rogue or melee character, I will win every time without having to try.
2. You can't fake RP. For PvP, on the other hand, you can find a large collection of powerbuilds to make a character with, not requiring anything of your own to be successful. It's like going out and buying a lambourghini, then challenging minivan drivers to race.

CvC can create RP, definitely. But only if there's story and narrative around it. PvP often leads to trouble if it is used as means of enforcement however.
Also technically by rules you need consent for PvP still.

But back to the topic at hand...
Going behind someone and stealing their loot with no attempt at RP or communication would count as a form of harassment. If they continue this after being asked not to, they could definitely be reported to the DM team for violation of server rules.
And this has been addressed before and has been pinned since 2009.

That's also accessible via Your Essence, not that most have looked through all the options to find it probably. :P

I think people can build to get any roll, it's not really an issue if someone is stronger I feel. Rolling a +20 str die is not more rp, cvc is a superfluous name for pvp, as slaying monsters for exp is also rp killing monsters.
Reporting for harassment is a good idea too, but sometimes you could conceive a character is just a jerk.
I tend to just leave an area if there is a problem, otherwise if they follow and continue, that might be more legitimate harassment?
