So i have this question that's nagging at my side, matter of fact it's been tugging at me since I first showed up here... Yeah, I get it that Sigil, planescape itself is a completely different entity that comprises all the worlds and all the planes together, even some not ever mentioned in any lore whatsoever... However, I do wish I could know this one thing...

What year is it!?

A lot of plots and character ideas that run through ones head cannot be brought to life if one does not know what year it is, some things cannot come to pass... Just like the Dark Elves of Faerun, not the Drow mind you..they became drow but only the ones untainted by a certain Demon's blood were able to revert back to thier true race with brown skin, brown eyes and black hair... This did not happen til 1379DR when Eilistraee sacrificed herself and redeemed those untainted drow, thus handing their souls over to Corellon, cheif deity of the surface elves.

That's only one thing...but yeah, I'm rambling... what year is it?

This is completely non-canon and subject to correction by cryptc, but I'll at least throw out what year that I have been playing it as, and why.

Our version of Sigil is based on the canon Planescape, which was released in 1994 for 2nd edition D&D; we've been using the political situation and major personages from that time.

At that same time, the Forgotten Realms was in the year DR1367, nine years after the Time of Troubles and 12 years before the events in the War of the Spider Queen, including Eiliestraee's death.

This would also be equivalent to CY 585 in the Greyhawk setting, Free Year 12 in Dark Sun, and AC355 in Dragonlance (2 years after the War of the Lance).

Well, can't say I recall where I got it, but I remember reading somewhere that the current year in FR is 1374 DR. That's what I've been going by when dating Ani's journal entries. Thankfully, I haven't set the timing of his back story to coincide with very specific points in FR history, so I can adjust it if I'm wrong.

1367 sounds about right in FR timeline... mid 90s timeline where Planescape was new and that was about that time in FR

Bane is currently dead, Iachtu Xvim has not yet appeared... that should place the timeline pretty close too (that is the closest I can tie it to FR timeline, since we used planescape lore lists of deities and their current status)

Yes and no...

Generally if a spell works on server, it works... we don't use the whole "some spells don't work in some planes", since if we were to do that we should implement the whole system, and that is way too complex currently.

When you log in and it tells you the date, every server reset returns us to year 1372, month 6, day 1. Evidently the year that the OC of NWN2 is supposed to happen. But... I like '67, mainly because none of the "weird" changes have happenned. Stupid 4e spellplague...
