Question On Paralyze, Very Frustrating

I am currently adventuring in the plane of ice, and when I face the ice lizard chieftain, he summons a woodling battlemage that always immediately paralyzes me with no save (I died 3 times to test it and double-checked the combat log each time). I'm playing a troll fighter and I have a massive fort/will save, but I guess the save check isn't even an issue because I don't get a chance at all.
Does anyone know what is happening here? Hold monster or whatever it is doing should have a save, right? I also had over 200 hp so it can't be PW: Stun.

The woodling mage is a bit strong there. Might be an oversight in area design.

Yes. It bigbys you then spams IGMs.
Same for the exalted arcanist on Celestia which is oddly also only summoned by the low level batch of spawnable mosters (the Heirophant does it there- and it is not even a boss :P ).
I strongly suggest to remove the ability to summon those mages from the mosters in question as they make the area inappropriately hard.

So it uses bigby's grasping hand then, since it is showing up as a paralyze effect? I'm surprised it is getting me so easy, considering the size and strength of a troll warrior and the resulting bonuses I should be getting to the check. Talk about a spell that is way out of place in the game considering it is that much better than anything else, even against a character that should counter it.

Ahh, we have another overlooked summons. Yes, the Level VII is probably overkill for this area's level range. I'll make a note to tweak the chieftan's spell list before the next update.

Freedom of Movement doesn't work, but I'm pretty sure Spell Immunity does. At least it should, since it's a SR: Yes spell.

Mage Slayer is also an option. ELC 0 mage slayer gets the same SR as Rakshasa, on top of other anti-magic stuff. If you -really- hate magic.

Ah, thank you for looking into this. But for future reference, are there any good countermeasures against this spell?
I just don't see the typical character's AC or grapple check ever keeping up with the massive bonuses a caster gets on their checks to this spell. Why does it get ability mod + full caster level + size mod then an EXTRA +10? This spell is definitely a candidate for a modification. Basically my str score has to be 20 (TWENTY!) points higher than their int/cha score to have just a 50 percent chance to break free for ONE round. It isnt even save or die it is just die.
Even with a troll fighter with tower shield it always gets me, that has to tell you something. And it makes any caster fight the same - breach and bigby's first and you win - totally lame.

SR, HIPS, Spell Imunity : Bigby's and Spell Mantle are the ones off the top of my head.
