Hey everyone,

Just a quick question for those of you who know the game mechanics. Im just wondering how to go about fighting knockdown, the feat. High AC doesnt seem to help, and I dont see alot of Strength really seeming to make much of an effect.

Theres no immune items (which is kind of a good thing)

Foundation of stone still works i think, but it makes you super slow.

Storm Avtar from druids should work.

Displacement and Mirror Image seems to help abunches on my Bardy.

But what about other character types? Whats the best way for others to avoid being knocked down?

Just wondering. It doesnt say what kind of roll it is, or if it does i havent found it. Is it Strength against Strength, or what?

XOXO
Neiska

It's an opposed roll, attacker's Strength (+4 for each level of size difference (-4 if attacker is smaller) vs. Opponent's Strength or Dexterity (whichever is higher)

Best defenses against Knock Down:

- Foundation of Stone (potions also exists)
- Concealment (from any spells/abilities which gives such)
- High Dexterity or Strength.
- Just stay in distance :P

My favorite way to combat it is by making sure I'm not drunk.

However I think the others pretty much tell ya what is what. So...my input isn't needed!

My barbarian's answer would be "Knock 'em down furst!"

Knockdown attempts can be parried.

Enlarge Person , which places you in the next largest size category, also makes it more difficult for you to be KD'd.

Ironically, Reduce Person also makes you more difficult to KD, at least for dexterity-based characters, since it increases your AC, AB, and dexterity, and doesn't put you in the next lowest size category as far as KD's concerned (why, why?). Not recommended for STR based folks unless you get around the penalty.

Any spells that reduce the attacker's strength or size would inhibit their abiliy to knock you down as well.

The Horned Devils seem extraordinarly effective at Knockdown . . . .

A high touch AC also works. (Knockdown is a touch attack first, then the opposed roll.)
