Hello Sigil.
We meet once again as we usually do: during a focal point of change for our fair City. Whereas many times before, the change has been controversial and involved 'grey area' so to speak, the angles on the following matter are as simple as black and white.
When I learned of the new 'tax' to be levied upon the indigent by the Fated, as well as the coinciding construction of a new wing of the Prison to house the anticipated delinquencies in payment, I had to look twice and confirm that this was actually happening.
Surely the Factols of the factions involved aren't foolish enough to think that a measure like this would not galvanize the most fervent backlash Sigil has seen in decades. To make matters worse, they have dragged the Harmonium and Guvners into this, as they enforce the measure out on the streets. They, too, are accountable just as the Takers are- for they enable them.
Will they send tax collectors en masse to the Hive? How many Fated will be lynched 'Nienna style' before they realize the sheer idiocy of this thiny veiled extortion scheme? How many guards have will be placed to patrol around Faction buildings (to prevent retaliatory firebombing) before they realize that this tax will cost them far more than it will benefit them?
Something isn't right though, this does not seem contrived enough. It's far too obvious to be marked as Taker-fare. To me, it seems as if someone is itching for a reaction and trying to drag half the Cage into it. Needless to say, I will investigate the matter. You should too. More likely than not, things are not as they seem. Be wary Sigil: do not go to war before you are sure of the enemy's identity.
I may die tomorrow, but the truth never will. At worst, it will remain hidden for a time.
