Today we discuss the righteous, and the difference between the self-righteous and the truly righteous.  Beware those who claim to work for Good, and worse yet the greater good.  Watch and listen, and see for yourself the nature of their devotion.  The truly righteous seeks to redeem rather than destroy, to understand rather than judge, and to promote kindness over angry confrontation.  Do you hear these 'righteous' warriors of the Good speak of the virtues of slaying every perceived evil?  Do they instantly label anyone that questions them as evil, misguided, or weak?  Do they answer unkind words with a smile, and a 'good day' or do they retort in anger?

A perfect example is the rise of the supposed 'Team Good' in our bazaar.  These self-styled Liberators that gather to espouse their philosophy around the tables at Khazeet's.  We hear their words, and see their actions, and despite their aspirations they are more self-righteous than true.  Their answer to dark beings?  Kill them, or drive them out.  Impose their will on anything they deem evil, and their justification?  Because those 'evil' beings impose their will on others.  Hypocrisy is the poison of the truly righteous.

And how do they react to anyone asking questions, or pointing out the faults of their philosophy?  They judge, throw labels of evil, and look down their nose on fellow citizens that do not share their beliefs.  Arrogance is the sign of someone who is simply self-righteous.

What is their method when faced with an unkind word?  To insult, belittle, and condescend.  They are rude to those that disagree with them, perhaps thinking that only people who share their beliefs deserve respect and kindness.  The truly good would show kindness, even to their enemies.  Is that not the code of many of the knightly orders of the Good Powers?

We have seen all of this since the rise of this sect, and like many others who put on their blinders and seek to impose their will on others, they likely won't last.  Perhaps if they do they will wise to the truly Good, and their own image in the Cage.  In fairness they may actually seek to do good, and free the other planes from the influence of evil as they claim, but they put on a contradictory face, and we the nameless, the unnoticed, see it for what it is.  If you do not, look again.  Look deeper, and listen closer.

This has been your dose of Truth,
Richard Saunders
