MERCYKILLER MURDERED IN THE GREAT BAZAAR
The mutilated body of one Adam Winters, former Mercykiller and expert hunter and tracker, was found early this morning, in the hours after Antipeak.
Reports indicated the human had been tortured, crucified, and some manner of magic employed to melt the flesh of his face.
Rumors fly about Sigil as to the motive behind the slaying and possible perpetrators. One unlikely rumor involved the Red Death themselves; that one simply did not leave their ranks. This was quickly quelled by a Factotum of the Mercykillers:
"Adam Winters was a valued and respected member of our ranks, even during his hiatus. We will mourn him and his body will be treated him with all due honors. "
The Red Death refused to comment on the ongoing investigation into this terrible crime, nor were any statements released to S.I.G.I.S by the Harmonium.

* Nemesis made an official statement to both Harmonium and Mercykillers*
"I seek to to bring justice to those of serious criminal intent, not to thwart those who seek to inflict justice. The fact I have taken matters in my own hand does not include an agenda to thin out numbers of those who aid this cause. Me and those have the noble hearts to follow me into this cause, are wrongfully accused of this deed. I send my heartfelt condolences to those left behind...Adam was a swift, capable man who's life has been taken in a manner most foul, only fitting to those of indeed criminal intent...I shall return this deed in sevenfold upon that one responsible for this...the guilty will be punished...the innocents will be protected.
I fear I have nothing else to say for now...save for the fact I am -not- a criminal, nor are those who follow me...we seek to make Sigil a better place...and it will become such...Adam's death shall not be in vain...this I swear..."

The Mercykillers, brothers of Adam, will deliver justice to them.
Ensure law is upheld and tell the authorities what you know about them. A reward of 10,000 jink is now offered for anyone supplying the identity of Nemesis and his crew to the Harmonium. Please, bring them to justice.

Given the rumors swirling about the city involving this heinous crime, some fingers pointing at this band of vigilantes, others at the mysterious Shadowsworn, S.I.G.I.S has decided to go to the "horse's mouth", as it were. We were granted a short interview with Simon Trent, a Factotum of the Harmonium.
"Thank you for seeing us, Factotum" - interviewer
"You're very welcome" the Factotum replies smoothy, the signature red helm sitting on the desk nearby. "It is in the interests of Law and Justice that we maintain a friendly and supportive relationship with our public, and, so, the Ministry of Public Relations was created long ago within the Harmonium to accomplish just that".
"Yes, quite. We're well acquainted with your office here at S.I.G.I.S. While I have a large number of questions, I'm afraid that given our limited amount of time I'm going to have to cut right to the heart of the matter, if you don't mind."
"Not at all - that's the Harmonium way! Cut right to the chase, apprehend the lawbreakers, arrest the perpertrators! " the red-armored figure chuckles, and strokes his beard.
"Firstly, the murder of this Mercykiller, Adam Winters. A heinous crime. Rumor has it that he was not only tortured, and crucified, but . . . ." the reporter hesitates " . . that his soul was in some manner devoured?"
"Harumph! Well! Let's get one thing clear right now. I don't know where this "devoured" blekwash came from, but it's pure sensationalism. Lizard tripe! It's true, however, that the man was treated most fouly and then bound to a cross. It is also true that attempts by Harmonium priests to raise the man have failed. "
"What of the attempts by the Necromancer you contracted to speak to the . . ." the reporter hesitantly offers.
"What! How did you find that out? Harmumph. Someone's got loose lips in our organization, I see. " the Factotum nods. "Yes, a Necromancer was employed, a certain fellow who's talent lies in speaking to the Dead. It doesn't always work, and even when it does work, very often no useful information is obtained. "
" . . . and in this case . . ?"
"In this case he failed. Said the man's soul was unreachable. Who knows what that means or implies, hmph. Maybe it's on vacation in Elysium, for all we know. ".
"So. A murder most foul. Have you a list of suspects? Is this Nemesis's name amongst them?"
"We do have a large list of suspects. In the interests of Justice I cannot reveal them. "
"Is Nemesis on that list? Is this Shadowsworn's ?"
"I told you, I can't reveal the names." the Harmonium scowled.
"What CAN you tell us, then, Factotum"? the reported edged.
"I CAN tell you that it is not only the business of the Harmonum to arrest lawbreakers, but also those who take the Law into their own hands. That includes vigilantes. What they call execution, we call murder. "
"Ah. So this Nemesis IS on your lists? Warrants have been issued?"
"Again, that I cannot verify. I will say, however, in this particular case - that of the unfortunate Adam Winters - we're close to issuing warrants for the arrests and questioning of several individuals."
"Well then. What of this Shadowsworn? Some rumors put her at the center of this affair. Even blame her for the Mercykiller's murder."
"I can't comment on her possible involvement, but we have gathered a good deal of evidence related to the crimes her and her minions have committed. It's also possible . . . " the Factotum smiles, stroking his beard, and leans forward.
"There's also another bit of news for you. We've received a few Sensory Stones, showing in rather, err, gruesome detail, the execution of lawbreakers in the Hive Ward. "
"Nemesis and his gang . . . ?" the reporter looks up.
"Quite possibly. Currently the stones are being analyzed by our top forensic investigators and diviners"
"So, to summarize, Factotum: you're ready to issue warrants for the arrest and questioning of several individuals responsible for, or tied to, the murder of one Adam Winters, former Mercykiller. There's also the additional charges relating to the vigilante murders, and the Sensate Headquarters robbery. These warrants might name Nemesis and his gang, or this Shadowsworn and her minions. "
"Hmmph, correct, save for that last statement. As I said, we will not reveal the names of the individuals on those warrants until we deem the time proper."
"There's also the matter of a reward being offered for the identities of these cagers. Can you comment as to that?"
The Factotum nods. "Yes, there's currently a reward being offered of ten thousand jinx for the identity of Nemesis and his gang. Tips and information will be handled here at our headquarters This isn't against the law, but let me add to all cagers and citizenry, do not attempt to apprehend or hinder these criminals in any way. . Let me be perfectly clear on that. Their arrest, if a warrant is indeed issued, is the business of the Harmonium, Mercykillers, and eventually the Guv'ners. Trying to arrest or otherwise harm or hinder this group makes you no better than them in the eyes of the Law! "
The Factotum clears his throat. "Let me ALSO add, anyone thinking they'll make some easy jinx by coming in here and babbling some contrived stories or fabrications - in other words, lying to get a reward - we have some very talented truthsayers amongst our on-staff Diviner squad, and it is VERY ill-advised to try to come in here and lie to us. You'll be sharing a cell with some orcish Xaositects we currently have in custody, if you get my drift. Besides, the reward is subject to verification, for information leading to the arrest of Nemesis and his gang, an arrest leading to a successful prosecution of those miscreants."
"What of Shadowsworn? Any reward for her identity or information leading to her arrest?"
"Any information concerning Shadowsworn will be rewarded with the good will of a grateful Harmonium. "
"So there's no reward."
