Dear Sigil,

It is people like Alathra Blackthorne who sway public opinion enough to prevent the masses from staging an insurrection against the Harmonium. At times, I feel as if the Harmonium receive so much (deserved) negative press that I need to remind the City that it is not a homogenous broth of like-minded addle coves like that clueless twit Yamikaze (I did a little research and groaned out loud as I learned that Yamikaze outranked Blackthorne in the faction hierarchy. You have GOT to be kidding me Sarin).

Returning to topic: I have met this woman once, and our encounter was brief. I wished to complain about the Harmonium's lack of oversight when it came to the release of lunatic Rith Fiddler from jail. I "voiced" my concerns about my own safety after exposing Fiddler to the masses. During our conversation, I was confrontational, unyielding, and at times - downright rude. She was quite the opposite. At every turn in the conversation, as I attempted to push her buttons, I was met with patience, level-headedness, and empathy.

Officer Blackthorne told me that due to the constraints of the law, she would be unable to offer me any assistance in an official capacity. I left, and thought that was the last I'd see of her. Imagine my surprise when she approached me a short time later, to offer her protection privately. I admit that part of me was highly suspicious, but I must say that some inexplicable quality about her made me want to trust her. I felt as if she was genuinely concerned for my safety. After some thinking, I laughed to myself as I came to the conclusion that it was the first time I felt SAFE around a Harmonium officer. Of course, I declined the offer respectfully - it would be a selfish disservice to the Cage if I were to detract from Officer Blackthorne's time on the streets.

A hot tip to the Harmonium brass: purge your ranks of the countless *Hardheads,* and recruit *real* officers who the common man will respect and follow - officers like Alathra Blackthorne.
