Hot news! Literally!!!

Only hours ago Muriel's Inn was almost burned to the ground. Early reports are fragmented on what caused the fire.

Some early rumours circulating is that this is the work of the Anarchists, but a more persistent rumour seems to suggest the involvement of the Chaosmen.

A white robed mage, described as being half insane, half arsonist, who apparently raised the alarm, was also rumoured to be the instigator of the whole incident. Unfortunately he was not immediately traceable, having disappeared after the fire was dealt with by two heroic wizards who cooled the flames with magic of ice.

Muriel is reported to be both distressed and enraged over the whole incident and damage to her Inn.

Our reporters are now on the scene trying to get more information for you dear readers. Look out for further reports on this incident as more information becomes available.

\\OOC: Anyone who wants, post your "interview" with the reporters, or write an opinion piece in this thread or something.

Yes, I was there. The flames were raging on the bar and liquor racks. Muriel and her patrons had fled and that panicked white robe was screaming about the fire. He'd warned us of it as we were discussing matters out at Khazeet's Tavern, so I just had to come see if I could help... I live at the Inn after all.

No sooner had I run in, glancing around when it became clear it could be dealt with by means of some conjuration, which is possible on occasion within the Cage. In short order I had pulled in some ice, starting to douse the heart of the flame at the end of the bar, but the white robe somehow managed to confuse his spell and lobbed another bolt of flame, fueling the fire.

Since the patrons were clear, I could cut lose, so myself and another practitioner doused the remainder of the fires with a flurry of Ice.

The white robe? I don't know him, but he seemed aware of what he'd done, perhaps a bit awkward about it. Naturally, he had no enthusiasim for sticking around to see if the Harmonium or other interested parties came to investigate.

There's were a few others around who could tell you more, they said the white robe started it by first knocking a candle over, then claiming he'd extinguish it with magic, lobbed a fireball or somesuch, rather than anything effective.

How'd I have dealt with it if it had been me? Easy, I'd not have knocked over the candle.

*Velora is stopped as she exits the heavily singed and Ice coated Inn*

Reporter: Ma'am what can you tell us about the fire just last night?

Velora: Nothing, I'm afraid. I was quite unaware there had been a fire at all.

Reporter: Unaware? Were you absent at the time?

Velora: No. I was in my room, resting.

Reporter: ......Then how did you miss the fire?! *waves to the Inn, half burnt down*

Velora: My room is over there. *points to the small section of the Inn that escaped fire damage* If that's all, I've better things to be doing with my time than talking with you.
*walks off, tone dismissive*

Reporter: Wait! Damnit...*watching her walk away* Soddin' Nerullite... probably warded her room...

*Shortly after word of the incident spreads into the Hive ward, Maelfina makes her way swiftly to the Inn, by all accounts in a particularly foul mood. Shortly after entering the smoldering building, the blue-skinned tiefling leaves with a smoking, extremely pissed kitten tucked under her arm.

Later on that day, the Iron Tusk orcs patronizing the House of Six Fingers amuse themselves by sharing theories, each more vomit-inducing and vulgar than the last, as to what exactly was done to the first orc who attempted to make an instrument of that burned kitten; occasionally pausing to point and laugh at the poor orc who now spends his time rocking back and forth in a state of quiet terror, rubbing his backside...seemingly otherwise physically unharmed.

The lesson so far, seems to have been learned well.*

After a brief conversation with Measure One Kordiva the Harmonium had this to say "about" the incident's aftermath:

"Make no mistake, we shall have every available Notary and Measure on duty that can attend the incident "at once". The culprit will be found and put into the cells faster than you can say "revolutionary league". The Harmonium will not allow this incompitence to last."

Following this Measure One Kordiva had every last Harmonium Notary that could attend the case make it a priority.

*In the distance, a tall figure wearing tan-colored leather and cloak, donning a few sheathed blades and a mechanical crossbow, yelled over upon hearing Kordiva's speech*

"Revolutionary League... ohh, look, ye haven' done anything yet. How abou' doing something instead of givin' speeches, ehh? Also, don' forget tae check upon that Yasmine lass, if ye think it was some arsonist. "

*He then finished his whiskey, and after making a sharp turn in a nearby alleyway, disappeared from sight.*

A follow up article appears in SIGIS a day or so later:

It appears the crazed Wizard is at it again! However, this time he did not burn down anything else, but instead set fire to himself! He was seen running around the Bazaar, clothes aflame, and finally running into the Blob in a strange attempt to put the flames out. He was saved by the actions of a considerate bystander.

Rumours that he was actually set on fire by the Lady Sixthfinger were vigorously denied by the lady tiefling.

One thing is quite clear, this crazy wizard is a menace to himself and all of Sigil, and this reporter will be following his actions with keen interest and keeping the public appraised of his actions.

Granite Stonejaw having arrived just recently has heard far to much of this "White Robe" in the short time since he left his contemplative existance. He begins following the trail from the first step, heading towards Muriels to get the story from the beginning.
