Greetings and Salutations fellow citizens of Sigil. My name is Axel Mahar and I have the pleasure of being the first participant of a regular feature we at SIGIS are happy to bring you. Each edition we will introduce to you a new face, a new nameÂ… a new perspective. We will interview Movers you are familiar with and Shakers that act behind the scenes that affect your lives. We hope that with each piece you will become more learned and entertainedÂ… and maybe a little more familiar with those who like to exist knee deep in the Multiverse.
(((OOC: I’ve created this thread as an outlet for those who don’t mind letting others know, In Character, things about their characters. Basically it would be a feature in SIGIS where an “independent” interviewer would sit down one on one with one of your characters and interview them. Basically the “Shakers and movers” of the city. The questions would be up to you and you could “choose” to answer some of them or not. If your character would simply answer No comment or “none of your business” to most regular questions… it’s probably a good idea simply not to have them join in. No one wants to read a whole page of “Pike off”. The interviewer could be anyone of your choosing… some folks are more comfortable around certain races and I’m sure the paper would take this into account. While I would like to treat it as a serious IC thread… have fun with it. Nothing wrong with shamelessly exploiting yourself in the press. DM’s feel free to jump in as any familiar NPC)))

After a great deal of asking around, I have managed to gain a “one on one” with a name you’re familiar with although not so much the face. We’re all familiar with the Revolutionaries and their goal of universal Anarchy. What we’re not overly familiar with are their noted members. Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Phoenix.
Axel (after shaking PhoenixÂ’s hand): Hello Phoenix. So glad I could finally meet one who has spent so much time in the news. Just a few questions for our readersÂ… so that they get to learn the real you.
First and foremostÂ… what made you want to join the Revolutionaries and why have you taken on such a visible role within the movement when most members want to remain as hidden as possible?
Phoenix: Well, Axel, IÂ’ve been a member since I was a teenager living in the Hive. My father as well was a standing member but not the main reason I joined. I grew up around poverty and filth. Where people would fall dead in the street and others would simply step over them to get to where they were going. Most times the only attention these people would get from the factions was when the Dustmen would come for the corpses. It hardly seemed fair an entire segment of population had to live in such squalor while the Factions that controlled the city turned a blind eye. It was then I realized the system was broken and needed to be replaced.
As for my visible presenceÂ… the movement needed a voice that people are familiar with. We canÂ’t, nor do we want to, stand in the Hall of Speakers and orate to the masses so we needed someone willing communicate in a way that would engage the city using a different means. So I took up that role.
Axel: An interesting take on things. I notice that you seem to be fairly healthy and fit. If the people you claim to support are starving and living in filth, how do you manage to stay well fed and clean?
Phoenix: Well we have supporters from the other wards as well. Ours is an organization that now spans the entire city and pours into the Planes. Many of these supporters grant us much needed funding and supplies. For many years I explored the planes like many adventurers and managed to earn a living this wayÂ… but I know most citizens cannot. That is why I take ninety percent of what I earn, whether itÂ’s from personal pursuits or other incomes, and pass this on directly to the people. A full ninety percent towards helping people in the HiveÂ… While not destitute I am certainly not wealthy and must live within my means as most others here.
Axel: Well that certainly is an admirable decision. YouÂ’ve been known to stage large impact attacks and violent strikes at those you perceive as the enemyÂ… How are you able to justify these things and do you plan to continue to use such methods in the future?
Phoenix: How do I justify these things? Well itÂ’s like this. The three main Factions that are responsible for the oppression of the weak have a large military backing. They have the numbers, the weapons and the training. They are formidable war machines and the average man cannot hope to meet them face onÂ… as was proven during the uprisings in the Hive not long ago. We havenÂ’t the means to pierce their armor effectively and in suitable numbersÂ… so we use other methods. We attempt to cause them as much damage as possible without risking open combat. We do our very best to limit bystander casualties but when the enemy exists so close in proximityÂ… sometimes it cannot be helped. Such is the cost of war. So many people die daily due to starvation and illness, deaths brought on by the direct influence of these factionsÂ… while it may sound callousÂ… those innocents caught in the crossfire would probably only suffered a lingering death under the current system. At least their deaths were for a reason.
And yes more are comingÂ… howeverÂ… IÂ’ve come to agreement with more moderate members of the movement and will take a more balanced approach but should factors warrant itÂ… I will continue to use the tools I have perfected.
Axel: WellÂ… certainly something for our readers to think about. One last thing before we conclude. YouÂ’ve managed to maintain an alias as Spokesman for the Revolutionaries without revealing your actual identity. Do you ever foresee your identity becoming known and, if so, do you think it will alter how you do things?
Phoenix: I think itÂ’s inevitable. Sooner or later IÂ’ll be forced to face the public head on. I donÂ’t think itÂ’ll force me to change my methods although security will certainly be an issue. No longer will I be able to openly walk the streets. I suppose IÂ’ll be forced to hide almost as much as the rest of our movement. Such are the risks we take every day in an attempt to bring freedom to this city.
Axel: Well there you have it folks. From his own words. I would like to thank my guest for agreeing to this meeting and to those who would use my meeting as a means to get close to himÂ… I have no idea where I am right now as I was led here under darkness and silence.
Thanks for reading folks. Catch you all soon.
