Deity/Beliefs: Is generally faithful to most all the lawful good gods as is required by her academy. However, if pressed further she might reveal a preference for Ilmater.

Personality:
Stoic and Reserved Tries not to form attachments to things and avoids things that make her uncomfortable (it took a long time for her to even talk to a tiefling) Melancholy This can be hard to see due to the above traits. However, behind her mask is a great deal of sorrow and self-doubt. Additional Information
Ashalle Academy: To understand Kamine requires some understanding of her academy. Ashalle Academy was founded by Headmaster Gavin Ashalle shortly after witnessing the Blood War firsthand. Fearful of what would happen should the denizens of that war turn their power toward the upper planes or Toril itself, he pleaded with the deities for support. It was mostly the lawful good deities who gave him audience. He proposed a military academy true to any good god that would support it to train soldiers to help fight against the horde should it ever breach the Blood War. In addition, such soldiers would be agents of service to good and justice as the member deities defined it. In return, the soldiers would have access to the divine powers granted to paladins, clerics, and other holy professions without swearing loyalty to one specific god but instead to all deities involved.
Although Headmaster Ashalle received the blessings of several gods for such an undertaking, he faced much skepticism that such an undertaking would be successful. In order to demonstrate the concept, the first students (and to this day only students) recruited were Aasimars. It was believed that their divine lineage would both appease the gods and develop a loyal and true body that would validate the schoolÂ’s purpose and importance. In addition, Headmaster Ashalle instituted a series of strict measures to be followed by all students to ensure that they followed the code of the gods and not be led astray by temptations. These measures only became stricter after an incident within the academy grounds caused the death of several students and nearly led to the dissolution of the entire institution.
Gear: Normally wears the standard uniform of her school. Its colors indicate her current level at the academy. The uniform is designed to allow for the attachments of plate mail, converting it into a serviceable armor. KamineÂ’s weapon of choice is a katana.
Habits/hobbies: Meditation. Considers herself always on duty so spends little time on recreational activities. When not performing tasks for the school or those in need, she is often filling out the lengthy reports for her superiors on her day to day acticvities.
General Health: Peak health.
Weaknesses: Is constantly fighting against self-doubt. Too much pressure could cause her to crumble.

Operation: Vigil in Sigil

Report #78

Classification: Confidential

Date: (need to look this up)

Topic: The Sentient Construct

I've encounter the construct that goes by the name "Grimcore" again. As stated in report #67, the construct had suffered considerable damage during the battle with the Aegis and the Shadowsworn. It seems that it is now fully repaired. Several citizens noted that its behavior had changed somewhat. I cannot give further details as my previous experience is limited to the events in report #67. Still this evoked feelings of concern among them. The construct also confirmed that it operates under its own free will. Thus, I am proposing to consider it as we would any other life form with sentience and free will. With that I present the following concerns:

1. The construct seems somewhat hostile organic creatures. While I don't believe it will randomly attack people, it does look for legal opportunities to kill and seems to enjoy it.

2. The construct has admitted to killing solars. However, it also kills demons and devils just as freely. In all cases, it claims that they attacked it first. Still a solar would need a cause to attack it, so I can't believe the constructs actions to be just. If I am able to ascertain its weaknesses, I will immediately relay them to the Revelation Squad and suggest it be shared among the members of the higher planes.

3. The construct has acquired a potentially dangerous weapon linked to the Shaper, a dark sword that some claim contain part of the soul of the one called the Ashen. The construct claims that it found it lying on the ground. That such a powerful object would be discarded so blithely seems unlikely. Also, if the construct has free will, it may also possess the capability of lying. The citizens' concern is that the sword could come to dominate the construct as it apparently has to others. The construct stated that such an action was not possible.

Recommendations: At this moment, there is little reason for the Academy to become further involved in these affairs beyond observance. As was mentioned in report #67 and earlier, there is no approachable leading authority with which to negotiate specific actions on our part on behalf of Sigil.

Thus, I will continue to relay more information on this topic as it becomes available. In the meantime, I will continue to represent the Academy's interests in Sigil and do my best to stem the tide of evil and suffering as is just and fair.

Signed,

Kamine Aerlin

Operation: Vigil in Sigil

Report #92

Classification: Confidential

Date: (whatever it was)

Topic: The Harmonium

As requested, I attempted to obtain more information about Sigil's branch of the Harmonium. The opportunity came when they announced they wanted assistance in rescuing one of their own from another faction. I felt that this was a good chance to demonstrate the abilities of our academies students while also observing how the Harmonium operates.

My impression of this mission is that it was a complete failure largely due to the mismanagement of the Harmonium itself. Rather than sent trained officers or soldiers, such as I, they took in whoever showed up. These recruits were given ultimate authority to act on the Harmonium's behalf. This was a reckless and irresponsible decision. These mercenaries, as I can only describe them, were generally out of control. When rioting citizens were dispelled, several members of our group began chasing them down and slaughtering them. The preferred tactics that ensured others were killed rather than reasoned with or restrained.

While I tried my best to restrict these types of actions, my authority was limited as the few Harmonium officers within our group took no action to join me in controlling the others. When we eventually met with the captors of the Harmonium officer we sought. Then members of my group were more interested in fighting with the other faction than rescuing the officer. At one point, the officer was safely in our hands and being delivered to their barracks, while her captors were being distracted. However, rather than protect the officer and deliver her, the members of my group left her and returned to fighting her captors.

I, unfortunately, was incapacitated at the time. Thus, we were left to the poor decisions of the remaining members of my group. In the end, the officer in question was killed and several of us were severely injured.

I apologize for the lack of details in this report. Due to my injuries, my memory of th events still remain hazy.

Recommendations: While it seems that the Harmonium in Sigil could use all the help it can get to keep up law and order, I find it doubtful that they will value our services any more than any other group. Perhaps this was an unique instance brought about by having one of their own captured. But the lack of discretion when choosing recruits and management of those recruits was worrying. I will continue to update on their progress.

Signed,

Kamine Aerlin

Her adamantium boots clicked across the hallwayÂ’s floor. Several blue marble columns loomed along either side. Their veins and discoloration altered into symbols of several deities of lawful good alignment. Tyr, Ilmater, Torm, even Chauntea were among the more well-known represented. Above the symbols, glowing orbs focused their beams onto them which caused the patterns to glow fiercely in the otherwise dark hallway. She did not linger on the signs, but stared straight ahead focusing on the blue light in the distance that marked the entrance to the chamber. The clicks continued to echo across the hall until she reached the doors.

They were finely polished and engraved with the psalms and parables of many deities in several languages. Although each told a different story, the message was the same: the faithless and disloyal will perish. She removed her left gauntlet and gently pressed her hand onto the door where several indiscernible characters formed a circle. They glowed and shifted forming her name in her native tongue. Then, as they dimmed, the doors began to open revealing an old man sitting before a raised desk upon which he was furiously scribbling with a goose feather quill. In front of the desk was a small wooden chair. She walked into the room without acknowledging him and sat in the chair waiting for the old man to address her.

She recognized him as one of the Magistrates of Records. They rarely interacted with the students. Rather their duties were more concerned with the administrative tasks that kept the Academy running smoothly. In fact, she was quite surprised to see him here at all. This sort of task seemed more the responsibility of the military brass. Yet he continued to write on a large piece of parchment ignoring her. She remained seated staring straight ahead. Perhaps he wasnÂ’t the one to question her, but protocol must still be followed. Wait, face forward, do not make eye contact until spoken to. For several minutes the old man wrote furiously above her, occasionally muttering some unintelligible complaints to himself.

“Kamine Aerlin?” the magistrate said suddenly as he glanced up from his parchment. Kamine looked up to acknowledge him. “Are you aware of why you are here?” She nodded. The magistrate raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Is that so? Silence is not an option in this room. Speak.”

“I am here to be judged as to whether or not I am worthy of advancing to the next class.” The magistrate scoffed.

“Correct!” He shouted and then stared at her silently. He then began shifting some of the parchments below him until pulling out the one he was searching for. “Kamine Aerlin. Age: 19. Gender: Female.” He read aloud. “Race: Aasimar. Of course.” He coughed. Kamine sat obediently waiting for his questions. The magistrate lowered the parchment. “Am I missing anything?”

“No sir. The document is accurate.” The magistrate looked her over again and then placed the parchment down.

“Kamine Aerlin. Cadet. 13th year student. Why did you join this academy?”

“I was recruited.” The magistrate stared at her further.

“Why did you join this academy?” he repeated.

“To serve the deities of lawfulness and good, protect the weak, and promote peace.” He sighed.

“Why did you join this academy?” he repeated a bit more firmly than before. Kamine sat silent. She started to answer but paused. She had been asked this question many times before and those answers were always satisfactory. She was recruited, but so were other students. This isn’t a surprise or unusual in away. And the duties of a cadet are verbatim from the daily oaths. Yet these answers were not enough. The magistrate watched her closely with pen in hand. As she began to open her mouth a second time, he interrupted, “Why? Why did you abandon your family, your friends, even your very life as a free citizen to join us?”

“I…I was just a child. I didn’t know what I was joining. I just did what was told of me. How could a child make such a decision?” The magistrate frowned and then scribbled something short on a piece of parchment.

“Certainly you had some choice? Or at least a reaction to being pulled away from your mother?” Kamine thought back to that day. She remembered the tall men dressed in white and blue armor that knocked on the door of her home early in the morning. Her mother opened the door and kindly invited them to sit and have tea. They refused. They were only interested in Kamine. And she then was pushed in front of them. It was a day of firsts for her. It was the first time she met Commander Grant. It was the first time she heard the word Aasimar and Ashalle. It was soon to be the first time she would leave her village, which also made it a day of lasts. She particularly remembered how nervous her mother was. In fact, she had been apprehensive the entire morning. Hastily cleaning the house, sending her sister out to play with a neighbor, and dressing Kamine in her best clothes. Kamine realized that that day she wasn’t just recruited, she was given away.

“I cried. But what child wouldn’t who was pulled away from her mother?”

“And your father?”

“My father? I never knew him. He was a celestial of some sort. My mother said he was slain less than a year after I was born. She raised my sister and me on her own...until the Academy came for me.” The magistrate ran his fingers over a document as she spoke and paused on a particular line. He looked back at Kamine and then the document.

“Your sister? Do you know where she is now?”

Kamine frowned. Her eyes darted away from the magistrate momentarily. “We were never close as children. After I entered the Academy, we lost contact.”

“Not completely.”

“No.” She sighed. “She is in Sigil. I saw her there but we have not engaged one another. This has all been in my reports along with my concerns. My sister and I are different people. I’m aware of some of her past deeds and if the Academy wishes to arrest her, I will not protest. However, I would prefer to not be the one who takes her down.” The magistrate waited for her to finish speaking before taking a full five minute to write notes on her response.

“We are aware of her actions. And whatever she is planning, the locals can deal with it. This is not our concern, at least for the moment. Tell me about Sigil.”
