A time beyond time

Time, the delusion of mortals petty minds, a concept that only few can grasp and fewer still can reverse their travel through yet I have managed it, not through a means of my own, of course. Yet the time I have discovered is but the history of an alternate dimension that parallels my own, a past that has not come to fruition in my own time of origin.

I am Investigator Lexus Bourvine of the Mechanus criminal investigations department in a reality that runs a seperate course from the Sigil I find myself lost within. There have been many events to transpire within the city of doors, the rifts and implosions to shake the very foundations of this plane between planes to which I blame responsible for my presence in this reality so different to my own, this time so far into history that all I recollect are a few details from the lessons taught me by my tutors.

I write this small entry as a prelude to my findings and investigations in this timeline in the hopes that, one day, I may return to it and discover the true meaning of that which has occurred.

Cause and concequences

The rifts, dissipating with time, have inevitably left me helplessly and ineplicably trapped in this reality and time with no possible method of returning save for a mad chronomancer that would request that which I do not have or cannot offer. To this end I have now taken my career down another route, whilst an investigator, of some reknown now it would appear, I have allowed Kileen Caine to accept me into the Harmonium, as Notary Investigator Lexus Bourvine. However, I shall retain my former title also.

Though these rifts have closed completely I cannot help but feel utter despair to believe I may never see my children again, never look into their innocent eyes as they beckon me, never hear their tiny voices calling their fathers name and, as lost here as I may be, I can sometimes feel them so close to me even if they exist in another time and reality. But I find myself distracted from this when concerning recent investigations into the Hive ward to assertain the dealings of one Hildmor d'Kridis who has, apparently, had dealings with the Anarchists and Pheonix, so Killeen informs me.

However, my leads have no infomation concerning such and, it would appear, d'Kridis is quite the expert on retaining his secrecy so, though I understand the risks of doing such, I must try and befriend him in order to gain said evidence and in the meantime, attempt to uncover the location of this anarchist leader to deliver him to Killeen Caine.

In other investigations, of which there are a few indeed, Brother Wren, a good friend of mine has reasons to believe a certain individual is unlawfully dealing contracts with commoners and, when they're unable to complete their contract, rehoming their children. So far eight children, all girls, have been taken by said man. Once more I must dote on my contacts to dig up some information regarding this though I shall not report this investigation to my superiors until I have sufficient evidence to suggest this individual could be involved in such unlawful business.

Time is limited indeed, and resources are low but, eventually, I shall find the means to finalize these duel cases, tis just a matter of waiting patiently for someone to make one false move.

Stab into the darkness

Wandering the hive ward, the notices of death and murders that paste the rotting walls of this degredant hell, I have summized that things need to change. The Shaper may be dead but the aftermath is all to clear, corruption is slowly raising its fettered head and seeping into the very veins of the city. Now, though I am relatively new to Sigil, I am aware that, as I see no possible way of returning to my own reality and time, that shome actions must be taken to re-establish law within Sigil and stop this corruption spreading.

This will, inevitably, work alongside my case concering Pheonix, but something has to be accomplished and I, as a single mind, cannot even begin to fathom the enormous task that lies ahead. So now I must call upon he who wished me to aid him. I shall deliver a letter to Factor Killeen Caine and insist upon other investigators to work beside me to clean up this hell hole and re-establish a sense of order and law, no matter the concequences for Sigil is not safe, nor is it reasonable as a fitting home for those who reside within it.

The Remnants

My perception of Sigil is gradually distorting, for what I once observed I can no longer percieve. Opportunity is the chant of the streets, Sigil the city of doors a place filled with countless opportunities. But there is something lurking in the darkness, a forlorn power of great unknown. Nights I would sit in the inky atmosphere of my apartment, the fire extiguished, emptied bottle of wine cradled between my hands, contemplating the madness of this city only to pose more questions than I could possibly answer.

I know not if this is reality or a nightmare, I cannot begin to fathom the weight of my peril for, with my children back at home, something lurks, awaiting my demise so it might claim my sanity. The deeper I delve into the intricacies of the city, the more I fell madness crawling into the deepest recesses of my tormented mind. Mechanus had a sensation of calm to it, though machines operate contantly, the hum of the backdrop orchestrating its own musical. Something about Sigil is not correct, is not sane nor amiable.

The glare of the street lanturns seep through my curtained windows. Oh the window, the height. In a moment I can forget everything by opening that gap and launching myself onto the city streets below. But there is no escape, there is no respite and no salvation from that which lurks, that creature I observed in the Hive. Something wholly unnatural beckoned as the stalker graced the soaked streets of the ward, I catching but a glimpse of the horror that haunts the lives of so many.

I cannot say what it is, nor can I even begin to imagine its origins but I know, from the deepest depths of my heart, that this terror is relentless, awaiting my demise. But alas, maybe this really is the wine talking but nevertheless, I cannot ignore what I've seen nor can I forget it. My Investigations are many but there is one that I fail to comprehend, The remnents of my own sanity.
