He is usually seen traveling with a girl who goes by the name of Shawna due to a chance encounter as both are new arrivals to the city. Though an unlikely companionship, a possible explanation is that he puts trust in the girl as she does not have a power of information of the city and its many quirks over him (as opposed to some of the city's long-established regulars).
He is a firm believer in the importance of knowledge. He believes that great knowledge is the forerunner to great power, and the right knowledge can make or break almost anything...or anyone.
