The days go by and it get's to see the clarity behind it all all the harder. My old home is turning into a chain of bad and fond memories, while this place, the weird and unthinkable Sigil feels more real by the day.

People are really alive here, mor then in any other place I've been to, diverse, breathing and each having their own agendas.

I was asked what I wish for, what I strive to achieve in my life, and honestly, I couldn't give an answer. At least now that my constant companion has been reprimanded and finally leaves me in peace, I have some time to think and find something.

As the days pass, it becomes more and more visible for me, that in the process of changing my ways I did go against the code I made a long time ago. I managed to become vulnerable. And yet, I happily walk into the dragon's maw. And I found something to unwind for now. Though the orcs running bloodied weren't so thrilled by my way of relaxing. Especially the one I forced to the ground and bashed his head in with my shoulder spikes.

Yesterday, while sitting in the bar and chatting with Lilliara, Kelth and Naya suggested a trek to Elysium, they were showing a new face in town the ropes. I went along, to forget about all those messy and gory thoughts that were piling up.

I talked with him on the shores, and it eased my mind. He really does have a way of making you feel safe. Though I often wonder, if the white knight on his white horse really understands what it will mean to fight a war in the shadows.

He is a dear friend, and brother in arms, so I just have to do anything, that he stays the man he is. Everything else that is grey and black.. well I can take care of that.

I wonder why it is that only questions keep pilin' up, but there are no answers in sight?

I was roamin' around the city today, when I met with Kelth. He brought me something, a pretty nice and rare gift, bless his soul. For a moment I just stood there, no word could I utter. Some time later Mir dropped in as well, and we went for a little excersie in the Abyss. It all went well, until we arrived at the fortress, and we were overrun. They subdued my friends, and something hit me with powerful magics, while I was trying to raise them.

While hovering in that world of uncertainty and pain, I seemed to recall words being uttered. Can't rememver them for the life of me, though.

When I came to, Kelth was gone. We had to retreat from the battlefield, and were pretty uncertain where we should look for him. We tracked back to the portal leading to Sigil, and asked every soul that we met, to no avail.

We trekked through all of the city to find him, but there was no trace. The whole place seemed so desolate of life and ominous, it made one's senses tingle.

We even went to the inn and looked around in his room. What we found however was more then we have wanted. But that's something that will remain known only to the two of us.

Then only one really caring enough to join our search was Zilvai. She led us to the underground village in Under Sigil, and then back.

We finally fouund Kelth in the Hive Ward. He said he was taken by fiends, to be eaten, but could escape. And although I was more then happy to see him again, some things just didn't add up.
He didn't have the trinket that was supposed to help him against the enemy. And I didn't want to make Mir worry, she I already asked to take care of me should I ever fall into their control.
I will have to stay vigilant, and as much as it pains my heart, I will have to watch him closely. And stop him, if need be.

Gods, I hope I'm wrong.....

These lines I write by flickering candle light, sitting at a table in a room. A room with all that one desires, a hearth, a real bed, even some books to read and a bath to use.

If one had asked me just a day before, I would have laughed it all off. Home? Me? I have lost something even remotely resembling this a long time ago. And even then, it wasn't home, just the place where my whore of a mother kept me while on the job. where the other children kept mocking the horned one. It came in an instant, just a few short questions from a friend.

Where do we spend our nights, he asked, and unsuprisingly, the answers where the same. Where the night may find us, where one would get tired of the days happenings. Well no friends of his gonna stay like that, he uttered, and just a few minutes later, on the ground floor of the inn, he handed us our keys. It was a strange feeling, to own something other then my equipment, what kept me alive, or a few small things one has picked up along the way.

It is huge, it is warm, it offers comfort. Those were the first things that came to mind, when I entered this new domain. My destined partner in living exploring the rooms with her ever present curiousity, and I followed. Checking every nook and corner this place had to offer, still baffled at the thought that this place was to be home. And that feeling of uneasiness, and euphoria that hit me every time in her presence, followed.

I took over the one part of this little kingdom I feared the least, drowning my thoughts for the time being. Travelling constantly makes one pick up the most unusal skills, and this one, cooking, was a blessing from Tymora herself. It helped me focus, and to do something to prepare myself. For Kelths words from our earlier conversations brought me over the brink, I was prepared to face one of the last barriers I set upon myself for days now.

As we ate the first of hopefully many meals in this new place, I learnt that it wasn't just me, who felt this whole situation unreal. She too hadn't had a place to call home it seemed, and that somehow made me feel happy, and less out of place.

I told her that I couldn't describe the feeling having this place, and getting to share it with her has given me, and I once again dodged the thing I really wanted to say. But I was determined, so after she let me, I told what was on my mind.

Aye, this is home now, a nest, a Cozy Nest, as that's the name we decided on. It has everything one can desire, a hearth, a real bed, and someone giving you warmth and comfort in your life.

Still, I can't feel truly happy.

I can't help but feel like I've failed the man who had given me a home. As i ran with all my strength through the roads of Sigil, hoping the chant I heard was not true, the only thing I could think of is where have I made a mistake, what it was I didn't take into account. And as I arrived at the depths of the barracks, and saw Naya'il on the blankets, grievly wounded, and the her man beside her, with her blood on him...

He disappeared between the buildings, starting his long journey back to far away Rashemen, on a road to repent and take revenge. He had given us instructions, of what to do in his absence, and to watch for his return. I only thought, but did not dare say, that I'll be watching, and if Sigil will be in flames, I will know he has come back.

His.. no our enemy has taken everything from him, and I couldn't do anything, but stand there and witness his pain and grief.

Now it is time to end this, and return to bed. In a home that came at a price.. of a friend losing his.

Days of Innocence

A new entry in my newfound home. Sigils seems to be asleep outside, the floor of the inn outside silent and dark. The room is filled with the scent of fresh flowers, mixing together with the fumes of the burning candle. And finally, after a busy day, I can find my peace.

Spent most of it roaming the Bazaar, picking up various things to make home more amicable. While I was wondering around, looking at things I never thought I'd ever consider buying or even looking upon, I had some time to make some progress in clearing up the chaos in my head.

I still want to abide by the promise I made to a friend, and I won't falter from that road, but still, there is another promise I have to keep, and someone else that I need to give my attention and care.

To keep myself in shape, or even to get stronger, I decided to wander the planes for a bit later on. Knee deep in the snow, the icy wind chilling me to the bone, I clashed blade and wits with a few Ice Giants. And after the fight was over, and I looked upon my bruised and wounded self in the reflection of an Ice stalagmite, standing on the cut down corpses of my adversaries, the firt thing that went through my mind was.. "I can't show myself like this." And that made me laugh.

Some casual talk about what to get, what to do to make us feel even more at home sufficed to make me feel calm. And that is something I must learn to value, for it is more then most wanderers will ever have. Riches and treasure lie everywhere, but this feeling.. all the gold in the world won't compare to it.

A little lighthearted and funny intermission at Khazeet's gave me another idea then, and I hurried over to the Bazaar once more, to fetch her some flowers. Her happy smile and joyful expression made me heart jump once more.

Casually, in the most darkest hours of the night, I still get the nagging feeling, that it is not right, that I relish in her presence, while my friend roams the far away lands looking for his atonement. But there's not a thing in this multiverse I could do to ease his pain, it is not something I could just make away with a firm handshake, or some other friendly gesture.

So for now, I have thrown a tantrum at the multiverse, with a smiling up yours on my lips, and succumbed to the happy and careful life. For I don't know how long I am permitted this bliss, so I want to take in the most of it.

*the paper smudged, the black ink mixes in with red drops of blood, and the text continues in red as well*

And I swear upon my blood and life, that I won't let her come to any harm. I want to see her smiling and happy for as long as my heart still beats. Tymora granted me the greatest of boons, and I'll be damned if I let it slip away from me.

End of Innocence

Even with all that happened, I cannot shake that part of me, the one in the shadows, from me. I wonder how I always manage to stir up more then I ever wanted.

Well, let's look on the bright side, now I know more of the dark matters that are underway, then I knew before. And at a small price. I'll just have to balance all of it.

And if it won't work, well then at least I will die by the hand of the ones I hold in my heart, for whatever the reason. Not a bad tradeoff.

If this matter ever is over, I will have quite a few things to repent. Even if all goes well, and nobody would know, I would. And the truth cannot be hidden.

I wonder when I stopped believing in that.

This things are of the shadows, and stay with the shadows I said. If only I could really believe those words myself.

No matter, it is done. The cogs of events have begun to turn. He is back. I feel it in my guts, and it's crying out for me to turn tails and run, for his revenge might consume me as well.

But I simply cannot, not after all he has done and given me. I am not a hero.. but I am no coward either. And I'm not a traitor... I'm not....

A storm is gathering

Kelth was back. He didn't know about the fate of his unborn child, until now. Really, how can you tell someone he was forced to kill his own offspring? If I had met him alone, I'm not sure I could have told. Luckily, Mir was there and said what I could not.

He wanted to see his wife. Naya went and gone, after nearly decimating her room to rubble, and almost bringing down the inn. We had two alternatives of finding her. Using Piri, her assistant to locate her, or scrying. Due to some complication with former, we chose the latter alternative. Good thing I remembered Hild mentioning scrying that day.

I'll never will understand that man. With all that demeanor he has about himself, he has his moments. And good ones. One with a troubled past, a hardened man, yet helped without asking for anything.

So there we stood, on the shores of Elysium, Hildmor working his scrying magic. He told us Naya is on Pelor's plane, and that seemed sufficient for Kelth to ease up a bit. But just a bit. He seems calm, but I cannot fathom what he must feel in these moments. Until Marius is painted all across Sigil with his innards out, he will not see anything. Which I can understand... yet, this shouldn't have been the way.

And old friend of his appeared, maybe by sheer chance, though I began doubting the existence of chance, given all that happened. He too, sweared his allegiance to the cause, which meant our party would now consist of four. Nay five... Naya will be preparing for war as well, he said.

So there we are. The cast assembled, the play awaiting it's beginning. The dark clouds are gathering over Sigil, and a terrible storm is about to come down on the City of Doors. No man or woman in this world should dare to stand against it, less it wishes for death.

And I wonder why in a weather like this I chose to volunteer as a lightning rod....

I really wonder how long I'll be able to keep this up. A deadly tightrope walk this turned out to be. No split loyalties my ass.

But some things are better left unsaid, and undone. If all goes well, maybe I can make it out of this without too much damage.

The only thing I learned today is how weak I am. Standing over the piled up corpses of the Mercurian guard, panting and bleeding, I knew if they got me so easily, I'd only be a hindrance. I couldn't have been more then thirty of them, I should have been able to take them on. And yet, I even had to retreat.

I wonder if having murder and maiming as a hobby still qualifies me as sane. Well, yeah, they did were the ones to run at me, but still...

More plans, more orders, more secrets to keep within me. And this time I almost cracked. But that is the way of things. It hurts like hells, having to lie straight in her face. And when I saw that man around her, I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I'm pretty sure there is a special place in the afterworld for scumm like me. Well, I worry about that if I ever get free of the bond I entered.

I don't like this one bit. I'm tired of playing games, I'm tired of dancing to others' tunes.. and most of all, I'm fed up with myself lying to her.

Trust in me,
I'll make you see everything inside the fire
Let us share all our secrets,
I can take away the dire

Ah the good old days. Scheming, hiding, sneaking.. it fills me with nostalgia, that I have taken up that road again. Well, there was wisdom in that choice, for none of us will be safe from the "righteosness" once we are done.

After taking care of matters, and slinking in silence and under the guise of invisibility through the streets of Sigil, we made for a short respite just above a house, on a little terrace. I tried to laugh up the whole matter, taking her hand, and dancing around, saying that this whole thing is just a grand ball, for which we are gathering. But someone seems to have taken an unliking to us.

I happened in an instant, I something glitter from the corner of my eye, the warm touch of my magical ring on my finger, working it's magic against the assaulting forces, then a flash of infernal blaze. we were engulfed in flames, the terrace burning around us. Without wasting a second, we darted down the stairs, the flames and fire behind us. Then there was an explosion, and nothing remained of the place we were standing on a minute ago.

No harm was done to either of us, thanks be to Tymora. She really has a lot of work with me lately. Must thank her properly one day. "My mistress sends her regards. Soon both of you will be in the deadbook, you and your bitch!" he said, before his voice and his footsteps vanished into the alleys. Well my friend, I have news for you.. no one in this world shall dare call her a bitch, or lay a finger on her. You and your mistress.. whoever she is.. will die a very slow, and very painful death.

And I will be there all the way, laughing it up. This has gone on too far, these people really don't seem to know who they are pushing to their limits. I won't just be the lightning rod anymore, I will be part of the thunder that comes roaring down, evaporating all that stand in their way.

After a secret meeting, we all agreed. Stand together, stand against the tide, and finally start this dance. It was disheartening though, to leave our new found home behind, but it would not be safe there. I looked at her, kneeling in front of the shelves, carefully packing away her precious books, and saw that she too wasn't fond of the thought. The only thing I could do, was to bring along a few of those flowers she loves so.

So here we are, in a refuge somewhere away from prying eyes. But in the dead of night, just before I began to write, I realized something. Something important, something that did warm my heart.

No matter where we go, no matter what happens, home is where she is. And as long as my deadly princess is in my sights, I will always have a home to return to.

The Ragtag Misfits.

The name my princess though up for our little assembly. We are no longer a few people hiding out to make things right, we are now a force. A force led by a friend, a brother-in-arms, a master of war.

Good old Sigil will have something to watch, once we move out, that's for sure.

He is looking for us, for Kelth. I noticed an invisible scrying portal when we were meeting up in the sewers, but it seems for now our guises are fooling him. But it is only a matter of time...

It is still breaking my heart that I have to lie to all these people. And it is getting very hard not to tell my dear what it is that aches me so. But if I do..

Despite that I felt her body next to mine all night, and breathing in her sweet scent, relishing in her warmth, I couldn't sleep well. In and out of dreams I leapt, waking up for seconds, feeling a bit of cold sweat on my body. And I know very well, that this is my guilt raining down on me.

But I really don't have a choice. I owe my freedom and my life to the guild, I cannot dance back. The only thing I can hope for now, is that we can balance the two plans, without points of contact in them. If not, I will take my side with my friends, and possibly perish. And even if I don't, I will still have to face them...

I couldn't even tell Kelth who to watch, now that he assured me that both accomplices of our enemy were female. I simply.. can't. Not without betraying the guild. And it is not my life I fear for. If the two parties meet up, it is war, he said. And I cannot let them come to harm...

And so it begins...

Started out as a pretty normal day, it did. Just some fun in Mercuria, I thought. Though thanks to my carelessness, I was greeted with a nasty suprise, and had to retreat in a weakened state from the place. But that resolved itself fairly easy, I just needed a cleric.

Then a little trip to Carceri, with that Gith that I have seen a few times, the one Kelth mentioned to be a friend of his. And again, in the end we were in way over our heads. Waking up in the Mortuary, with the mother of all headaches is not really a good way to begin a day. But at least it was preciously painful experience.

My mind is a lot more at ease now, that I have had a chance to discuss things with my princess, and that she did not hold anything against me. Neither of us seems to be the sort to force things out in the open, and I am happy for that. She really is a Gods sent at times, and I happily leapt into her tender embrace.

But the actions of our enemies caught up with us sooner then expected. A gust of wind blowing the door of our refuge open, a bit of rubble swept in by it. That was all it took to make us don our guises and head out into the city. Notes have been flying around, notes with blood money for the crusification of Naya. We couldn't wait for Kelth, we felt the urge to move, to find her before anyone would be stupid enough to try and fulfill those demands.

We swept the streets looking for her, even visited a few distant planes, and finally we found her. Under the cloak of invisibility, we brought her to the hideout. She was a bit reluctant first, not understanding our masquarade, or why we drag her away like that. But she seemed to understand the impact of the message, after we showed it to her. I personally only met her on one or two occasions, and only spoken a few brief words. Me being a fiend, and she one of celestial origins, didn't really help.

But as luck would have it, we soon became pretty acquianted. A scratch on the door, the sound of an amateur opening the lock.. the shattering sound of a door being kicked in, the cries of the mob storming our hideout. And then, the bloody massacre. Back to back, the two fiends and a celestial, glaring at the onslaught of assassins. It was almost instinctive, and very primal. We didn't think, we didn't say anything, let alone a few cries of victory that fled our lips. We were fighting as one, and the lizards learned to fear us. Amidst the battle, I didn't have the luxury to wonder, how different she was then Kelth has told.

The last one, the coward plead for his life, but the one who sent him, the Shadowsworn, didn't see it fit for him to be alive. Bloddy mess he made out of our new home, the berk.

The mettle has brought us a bit closer, I'd like to think. She had enough kind gestures and smiles for the both of us, listening to our little bickering, and trying her best to accept us. And we both were just ourselves as always. There is really no other way for us to be.

Later Kelth arrived and had a plan. Chant was about a spellweaver, collecting souls. We tracked her down, and the Misfits had their first real mission. It was a bloody fight, with an unusual twist.. we paired up with a bounty hunter, whose pray was also hiding in the place.

In the end, the spellweaver turned out to be the Shadowsworn. A Shadow Mage... and her accomplice, that Shel. I wonder.. there aren't that many of us around, and most of them... I have to look into this.

Now as I open the door to a crack, I can still see the evaporated remains of the Inn we met her. A trap, most deadly in nature, leveled the whole building, and a deadly cloud of poision swept over the Hive.

So, this is war? I asked our leader. Aye, war it is, he said.

So there we have it. We stepped out of the shadows, and have taken up our arms. You hear me Marius? We are coming for you! And the Gods be merciful on all who side with you...
