I made another journey into Under Sigil again. I encountered a tiefling named Razia and, much like many of the other tieflings I have encountered, she was instinctively wary of me. After our initial meeting, we decided to travel together as we went further in. We then chanced upon Aki and she joined our group for a bit, but she said she felt fatigued and departed just as an elf named Indóir joined us. The three of use made our ways through the sewers, fighting off orcs, bugbears, imps, and kobolds. I still hadn't gotten the arbalest to work properly though.

Eventually we returned to the surface and I offered my services as a starting craftsman to the two. At first, they were interested but Indóir made a point of Razia's horns. I don't think he meant any harm, but it soured Razia's mood. I told her that I judged by actions and not appearance, and that brought a smile to her face for a bit, but she still stormed off.

After forging a cold iron weapon for myself, I made my way towards the beast lands. I fought the Unseelie for a short while, and then something dawned upon me about the runes of the arbalest. I took a second look and realized that age had worn off a vital section of the runes on the barrel. I found a safe spot, sat down, and studied the area and the runes next to it. Once I recognized the patter, it was easy to determine what was supposed to be in the missing section. I redrew the runes on the barrel then decided to take a practice shot.

Sure enough, as I pulled the trigger, I could feel the arcana being siphoned from me and into the arbalest. This time, a bolt of pure arcane energy formed and blasted from the arbalest, leaving blue trail in its wake! However, that left a question. I had assumed that what frustrated father was being unable to get the arbalest to properly siphon arcana, but if a novice like me could recognize the runic pattern, I'm certain he did as well. So what was father trying to do with the arbalest that made him set it aside when he couldn't succeed? I had only succeeded in restoring the arbalest to what it had been before. I still need to figure out what he had planned for it in the first place.

I hope Cratten responds to my letter soon. As more time passes, I worry over the fate of Gwynn.

It was good to see Dom again. I have him an update on the situation regarding Gwynnithe and he said he'd look up some information on spirits. Cratten hasn't responded yet, Gwynnithe can't do it herself in her state, I haven't seen Zadara at all, and no one else has responded to any of my posters. How much longer will this take?

On the plus side, the crossbow Dom gave me has helped my research with father's prototype. Studying the runes on it has greatly increased my understanding of the arcane and I was even able to mimic all the magic properties and bestow it to the arbalest. It's become a very powerful weapon.

Speaking of the arcane... something strange is happening to me. Though I lost my power after that vision, I maintained my half-dragon body. This is strange since I brought forth my apotheosis using arcane magic, so, logically speaking, I should have reverted to a simple Aasimar when I briefly lost all of it. Still... nothing strange has happened yet, though I'm starting to feel the sway of the evil draconic blood in me once again. It's just like the time after I first performed the blood ritual. The chaotic and evil tendencies of a red are finding their way into my mind. I am not worried though. I overcame them before and I can do it again.

Heh, heh. I have to say the most annoying part is the return of the ravishing hunger for meat. Muriel and Rita kept staring at me as I devoured enough meat for five at breakfast. The hunger should cease after a week or two, much like the first time, though I hope it happens sooner. That one regular at the inn tavern, the fellow that was born half-dragon, keeps offering to share a meal with me. Ordinarily, I wouldn't mind, but I honestly don't want to hear any more deep fried Hin recipes. The most troubling part being that they sound surprisingly delicious in my current state of mind...

After spending the day studying, I was shocked when I left the inn and found Dom speaking with my father, Jach. Not in the flesh, but as a ghost. After getting over the initial shock, the subject of Ceszar came up and I explained what his sister, Zadara, did to him. Father and Dom were surprised at this and I realized now was the time to reveal all that I had learned.

After struggling to keep my father's attention, I finally managed to get his ghost to come with Dom and me to one of the booths. After putting up a silence ward to ensure privacy, I explained everything I had learned from Hildmor. Father couldn't believe Zadara had been his murderer and insisted it must have been Ceszar, never mind the magic contract between the two.

I saw no reason to press the point and moved on to Gwynn's problem. I told father what Maggie had said about how his becoming Gwynn's new spirit guide would solve all the problems since Jach was the only other person that made Gwynn feel feyish. He gladly agreed and the three of us went to find Gwynn.

Unfortunately, we had no luck. Maggie must be playing another game of hide-and-go-seek. Not exactly a very safe thing to do in Sigil, but she is a spirit guide. Mentality aside, she's not a child. Dom decided he would return to Waterdeep and let Kalina know what was going on while father floated off into the city. We'll try again when Maggie reappears.

I can't believe Dom. He summoned my sister to the beastlands... while she was taking a shower. By the gods, I was so embarrassed to see my sister standing there naked. I quickly turned about and offered the tunic off of my back to her. After the awkward greeting, a stranger appeared from the portal. After telling us his name, Venemo, my sister started to address him as a noble lord, playing a game. This continued until Maggie showed up and Kalina greeted the woman she thought was Gwynnithe. The game came to an end and explanations were in order.

As Kalina, Dom, Maggie and I made for the inn, I explained what was going on the best I could. Then we ran into father's ghost. The meeting of father and daughter was emotional, made even more so by the fact Kalina couldn't touch her father's ghost. That was soon remedied when Jach cast a spell on all of us that brought us into the ethereal plane. There Jach seemed as real as he did in life. He embraced all of us. Kalina, at last, had been able to see her father.

The rest of the day was spent trying to figure out a way to solve Gwynn's problem. Thanks to father, we somehow petitioned Venestra to change Gwynn's pact, allowing Maggie to give control back to Gwynn. We are a family once again. All that is left is to resurrect father. I am happy and yet sad at the same time. My family has returned, yet I am still without Rozalin.

Today was a very interesting day. After a run through the beast lands, I made my way back to the inn after selling the miscellaneous magic trinkets taken from the evil Unseelie. It was there I ran into Kalina and she began a silly narration. My jaw nearly dropped at the form that walked out of the inn from behind it. It was Ixia, a dear friend neither of us had seen for a long time. At first, we were overjoyed to see her, but then she revealed she was only back for a few days. Still, we both agreed it was nice to see her again.

At the same time, a blind man wandered up to us. His named turned out to be John Miller and he stumbled into Sigil by mistake like many others. Strangely enough, the trip seemed to have cost him his eye sight. Fortunately, I knew the spell "Blind Sight" and cast it upon him, temporarily restoring his vision. Once he got a look at his surroundings, he had many questions like most new arrival. Kalina and I were more than happy to answer them. Kalina also let him know about the portal back to Baldur's Gate, which improved John's mood greatly. He needed to rest though and retired to get a room at the inn before us.

Then Camthalion showed up and Kalina started another one of her games. She dramatically revealed he was really Crown Prince Daetonys Gre Salacela of Andalasia and she was his guardian that had watched over him for millennia. Ixia ended up joining in and the "play" continued. All four of us had a lot of fun.

However, as the end of our play came to an end, a quarrel started up and one of those involved was Legault Degare, Kalina's old and once dead love. Seeing him alive shocked her and I moved to her side to comfort her. She quietly revealed something to me and I gave my promise to keep it secret. She finally spoke to Legault and told him she'd like to speak with him at the Spice Rack when he had the chance. He agreed and Kalina went ahead of him, Legault following once the conflict had ended. Part of me is worried about this, but I trust Kalina and the two need closure.

Zilvai tried to kill herself again, thankfully Kelth was around to save her. She said she felt like she her friends were ignoring her, but Kelth helped her realized it was the way she was distancing herself. I agreed with that and told Zilvai that her real friends would never abandon her. I was scared when I found out, but things seemed to get better.

We decided to return to Sigil shortly after Kelth left, but we were intercepted by a maddened Camthalion. He came running at us with a sword drawn, saying he was going to finish what Zilvai started. I didn't know what came over him, but my battle instincts kicked in and I fought with him. I noticed the sword he was carrying was giving off an evil aura, and thought it to be that evil blade of Azrinoth I had destroyed over a month ago. Zilvai and I were able to knock the weapon from his hands and I hastily retrieved it. However, I was shocked to find it wasn't the same weapon. The blade was clearly evil, but not the possessing blade that Azrinoth carried.

I warned Zilvai to be wary, but the battle came to a pause. Camthalion kept going on about Zilvai breaking her promise and that she didn't care about anyone. He kept telling her how selfish she was for killing herself. I tried to tell him that everyone makes mistakes, but he wouldn't hear of it. It wasn't until Zilvai bowed to him and apologized with tears. Then something strange happened and Camthalion tried to strangle himself. Zilvai ran forward to hug him, screaming for him to stop. He then suddenly passed out in her arms, a small trickle of blood coming from his mouth. I looked Camthalion over, and, thankfully he was stable. He just needed time to rest and recover.

Zilvai carried him to Sigil while I held of the Unseelie on the way back. Once there, I had her bring him up to my room and set him down on my bed. Zilvai needed to recover from what just happened and went to her room after saying goodbye. I reminded behind to watch over Camthalion. He eventually woke up and seemed to be himself. He also had no knowledge of what he tried to do. I told him what had transpired and she was shocked. He only recalls finding out about what Zilvai tried to do, then heading to the bar to drink because he was upset. I also showed him the sword I had taken from him and, while he recognized his own craft, he had no knowledge of making the sword.

Zilvai then returned to my room. She couldn't sleep and had made a fruit basket for Camthalion. The two discussed what happened and Camthalion revealed this wasn't the first time something like this had happened. He assured us he'd never willingly harm us. Once that was cleared up, the subject of Zilvai's suicide came up again. Camthalion essentially pointed out what had already been pointed out to Zilvai earlier and Zilvai agreed... but I noticed the look on Zilvai's face. In hind sight, I think three lectures in a row was too much.

I saw Zilvai near the Hall of Records reading a book. I greeted her but she was rather neutral. I told Zilvai that I felt we went too far the day before in correcting her. She agreed and said we were expecting too much from her too quickly. She was right, there was no argument I could make against it. I told her we were scared that we were going to loose her. She asked why we couldn't just say that rather than tell her how imperfect she is. Why couldn't we thank her for the good things she does and say how glad we are that she's around?

And I immediately did just that. I thanked her for all the help she has given me, especially in regards to the imposter. However, my words didn't have that much effect. Zilvai said it just didn't sound right at the moment with her mood. I asked if she'd like to take a walk at Elysium. The sea breeze and the sounds of the waves always clam me down. She accepted and the two of us made our way to the plane.

It was a beautiful night at Elysium. We walked up to the top of the hill and stared at the waves while the moon hung high in the sky. Zilvai began talking about her home and the goddess known as Luna. As the time passed, I told Zilvai how much I admired her and wanted her to succeed. What I was saying to her last night about being willing to accept failure was just fear talking. That's the hard part about being a friend. You worry what might happen to your friends if they fail. Still, you have to keep believing in them and trust they will succeed.

My understanding of the arcane has grown greatly since I first began. I decided now was the time to experiment with the runes on the arbalest my father had abandoned. I've been meaning to show it to him, but his flightiness combined with the fact he's a ghost makes it almost impossible to keep maintain his attention. Several times I've started to speak to him, but the faintest distraction looses his attention and, the next thing I know, he's off walking through the walls. Maybe I should look into this dimensional anchor spell Dom has mentioned.

As I look over the runes on the weapon, I can't help but marvel at father's handiwork, especially now that it's easier to understand. As the tip of my finger traces along the lines, I can feel my arcana being siphoned into the weapon just by simply touching it. I'm amazed how the arbalest is able to take so much of my arcana without hindering my spell casting. However, I've come to realize that the amount the arbalest takes in is significantly greater than what it puts out when it is fired. Why is so much of my arcana siphoned and where is it going? This must be what frustrated father, though I'll be certain to bring it up when I finally have a chance to speak with him.

After several hours, I was able to determine that there was more room for one more enchantment on the weapon. I decided to experiment with the runes and quickly gathered the necessary materials I would from the bazaar. I also went ahead and acquired a gem to enchant my bracers while I was at it. Once everything was gathered, I made my way to the magician's bench and set to work.

I went ahead and added a fifth tier armor enhancement to my bracers since it was so simple. I quickly put them away and set the arbalest down on the bench. I then set the blue diamond on the barrel and used the essences of power and air to draw the new runes upon the arbalest. After triple checking my work, I focused my mind and began to chant the spell. The newly drawn runes began to glow as did the blue diamond. The essences swirled together and began to sink into the mithral barrel of the arbalest. As the spell reached its peak, the diamond shattered and its dust floats over the weapon. A vacuum emitted from the runes and the falling dust was pulled into glowing runes. With a flash, the enchantment was complete.

For a while, I stood in awe at the weapon as the runes pulsed with fresh energy. Gingerly taking the weapon in hand, I made my way to the Lady's Ward. My destination: the abyssal portal. Once inside, I cast my usual wards upon myself and Elahrairah, the one time rabbit but now badger due to a misfired spell. (Thankfully, Elahrairah has been very patient with me in finding the proper spell to change him back.) Once ready, I ran up the cavern stairs and out into raging blood war, firing blasts of arcane energy into whatever fiend crossed my path.

But I soon realized something was wrong. I realized that nothing about the weapon had changed. The blasts that it fired were the same as the blasts from before, neither stronger nor weaker. I made my way back to the safety of the cave and looked the weapon over. I checked the runes again and again, tracing each line with my finger. And though the runes were perfect, still there was no change in the enchantment itself. With a sigh, I holstered my arbalest and exited the abyss. Either I have more to learn when it comes to enchanting, or I just found another mystery to this weapon.

Rozalin gave up. I still can't believe it, but it's the truth I must face. As soon as I heard about what happened in the Abyss and the presence of the Dukes of Hell, my mind went to Sunshine and her plight. After helping Hildmor to Khazeet's bar, I made for the Spirit and up to her room. I know I said I would wait, but this was an emergency. I knocked on the door while calling her name frantically, but she wouldn't respond. I lost patience and broke into the room... only to find it empty. No books on the shelves, no diary on her desk, nothing. She was gone.

I stormed down to the common room and asked Muriel when she had last seen Sunshine, and I learned she had turned in her key over a week ago. My heart began to pound in fear and I pulled out the small box containing the scry device. I focused my thoughts and saw the image of Mt. Celestia in my mind. That brought some relief but also many questions.

I left the inn and made my way through the allies until I came upon the familiar portal leading to mountain. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by two Paladins that greeted me by name. They had been expecting me. The two escorted me up the mountain all the way to the temple. I met with the archon and he explained that Rozalin had come to them some time ago of her own will. She was safe and well cared for but desired no visitors... not even me.

My heart was torn. I wanted to beg to see Sunshine, but if that's what she wanted... what good would it do? Sunshine had given up on her life, her freedom, and on me. With a heavy heart, I informed the Archons of what transpired in the Abyss, but they already knew. They said that as long as the devils remained in the Abyss, it was a Blood War matter.

I returned to Sigil and noticed Zilvai talking to a yu-anti near Khazeet's bar. I drifted towards her, unconsciously needing the support of family. But once I got to her, no words would come from my mouth... at least not the words I wanted to say. All I said was a greeting and just listened quietly as Zilvai spoke. It turns out the yu-anti was a friend of hers and I'm fairly certain I was told his name, but I can't recall it for the life of me now. I can't recall a lot of things that happened after learning of my Sunshine's fate.

At some point in the day, I found myself slipping into the Abyss after learning the disease had been cured. I scouted the newly built strongholds of the devils, picking them off from hidden corners with my arbalest. And so I remained there the rest of the day and the following, returning to Sigil at brief times to restock my supplies. I feel numb and empty. I lost my sunshine.

Zilvai had some trouble with Fargul and the others today. It looks like Fargul found out what she tried to do and became over protective. He also wanted Zilvai to be more open with others. Unfortunately, he went too far and made Zilvai begin to doubt herself. I was able to open his eyes as I spoke to him and helped him realize a few things about himself as well. I left the two to sort things out alone in the Gymnasium and waited outside. When they emerged later, they both looked weary but it was clear they had a better understanding of each other. I think the two will get along better from now on.

Zilvai retired to the inn and Fargul offered to buy me a drink, but we were intercepted by a woman just as we reached Khazeet's bar. She, in a rather unsubtle way, offered her body to both of us! Fargul and I both declined, but Fargul must have found the offer very disturbing. He bid me farewell and went straight to the inn, leaving me with the jink skirt. She started talking about how she needed to survive and Hildmor, whom had been at the Gymnasium but left when I interrupted, suggested I just give her some gold so she would go away.

That would have been the simplest solution, but I felt a desire to help her as I recalled when I first came to Sigil. Complete strangers offered me weapons, armor, and went out of their way to show me around Sigil. Elsibeth had been one of them. Now I was presented with the opportunity to do the same for someone else, so I did. I showed her to the inn to help her get a job clearing out the bats, the first job I took when I arrived. I also gave her some armor, weapons, and gear she could use. I learned her name is Kara and she's a half-elf from Toril.

Camthalion appeared and offered his assistance as well, and then Gwynnithe showed up and gave Kara her falchion, White Fang. Gwynnithe decided to start a Seelie House with Kara, which turned out to be a game similar to the play Kalina started with me and Camthalion. Gwynnithe became Baroness Ystaria, I was Baron Firehair, and Kara became Lady Knight Kara. We had a lot of fun and, surprisingly, Ixia joined us! She had mentioned she might return for a bit a few days back. I hope I get to see her again before she leaves.

At the end of the day, Kara swore her loyalty to Gwynnithe and me, promising to serve and protect the both of us with her life. I was grateful for her offer, but told her I would prefer she think of me as a friend rather than a master. It wasn't long until she began calling Animus without including a meaningless, pompous title. And so I've made another friend to be thankful to the gods for.
