Kyzburkzurl strained his wings to turn aside, feeling one of his legs torn away by the Vrock's snapping beak. Spinning in a dive to face the demon, he spat a fireball into it's face and watched it tumble to the ground below in flames. It was quickly trampled as the horde of it's kind crashed into the Baatorian lines, legion devils locking shields to hold back the press. Hezrou smashed aside some with their sheer bulk, dying with lances in their vitals and falling atop the phalanx. At the front of his cornugon company Lord Bel was an engine of destruction, the pit fiend's flaming sword raising a chorus of agonized screeches with every strike.
As his lost limb slowly regenerated, the abishai pondered how the overwhelming losses his unit had taken would affect his ranking. The flying massacre hadn't lasted more than ten minutes, vrock and abishai tangling together claw to claw. He was one of the few still alive, since Avernus was home ground. No banishment here, only true death. Demotion could be considered the worse fate...
Now it looked as if the tanar'ri incursion was over. The remaining demons were in full retreat, fleeing back to the portals that had brought them into the nine hells. Kyz turned aside and began to fly back towards Tiamat's domain with a few other abishai, the cliffs of the mount rising up in the distance to meet him. He passed over the great maggot pit, the screams of souls being converted into his kind bringing a grin. On the cliffs dragon petitioners lounged, having watched the distant blood war battle with lazy disinterest. They hadn't been sent to help this time...more's the pity.
Landing at the valley entrance, he looked up nervously at his creator. One avatar of Tiamat defended the entrance to her domain at all times, causing any demons who came too close a great deal of trouble. The many headed dragon inspected the battered devils then motioned them through. Kyzburkzurl brought up the rear of the line, but in an instant had a communion. Tiamat instructed him to depart swiftly, unnoticed, and go to Sigil. A mission was implanted into his mind, and he was to fulfill it at any cost. He prostrated himself before the avatar and took off back into the fiery red sky, heading to one of the portals.
 This would not be easy.
