Kyzburkzurl and an erinyes soldier

Theme music:https://youtu.be/bC-KTv48kEY?list=PL4rQ ... AbW3X5UPsb

Race: Puragaus, also known as Immolation devils are tyrant warlords and field generals among HellÂ’s legions. While other greater devils manipulate subtly and from afar, puragaus surround themselves with diabolical minions, lead interplanar incursions, hold infernal redoubts upon mortal worlds, or strike against any who would defy the will of Hell.

Alignment: Made out of Lawful Evil

Philosophy: Follows hell's doctrines to the letter.

Often appearing to adventurers in ruined dungeons and remote planes with offers of riches and power, this devil is constantly plotting to expand Hell's influence and gain victories in the Blood War. For Kyzburkzurl, Sigil is a staging point for funding and leading attacks on the tanar'ri across the planes, fitting his caste's role as offensive commanders.

Kyzburkzurl strained his wings to turn aside, feeling one of his legs torn away by the Vrock's snapping beak. Spinning in a dive to face the demon, he spat a fireball into it's face and watched it tumble to the ground below in flames. It was quickly trampled as the horde of it's kind crashed into the Baatorian lines, legion devils locking shields to hold back the press. Hezrou smashed aside some with their sheer bulk, dying with lances in their vitals and falling atop the phalanx. At the front of his cornugon company Lord Bel was an engine of destruction, the pit fiend's flaming sword raising a chorus of agonized screeches with every strike.

As his lost limb slowly regenerated, the abishai pondered how the overwhelming losses his unit had taken would affect his ranking. The flying massacre hadn't lasted more than ten minutes, vrock and abishai tangling together claw to claw. He was one of the few still alive, since Avernus was home ground. No banishment here, only true death. Demotion could be considered the worse fate...

Now it looked as if the tanar'ri incursion was over. The remaining demons were in full retreat, fleeing back to the portals that had brought them into the nine hells. Kyz turned aside and began to fly back towards Tiamat's domain with a few other abishai, the cliffs of the mount rising up in the distance to meet him. He passed over the great maggot pit, the screams of souls being converted into his kind bringing a grin. On the cliffs dragon petitioners lounged, having watched the distant blood war battle with lazy disinterest. They hadn't been sent to help this time...more's the pity.

Landing at the valley entrance, he looked up nervously at his creator. One avatar of Tiamat defended the entrance to her domain at all times, causing any demons who came too close a great deal of trouble. The many headed dragon inspected the battered devils then motioned them through. Kyzburkzurl brought up the rear of the line, but in an instant had a communion. Tiamat instructed him to depart swiftly, unnoticed, and go to Sigil. A mission was implanted into his mind, and he was to fulfill it at any cost. He prostrated himself before the avatar and took off back into the fiery red sky, heading to one of the portals.

This would not be easy.

Things had been going better than he'd ever expected. Some were wise enough to refuse or walk away, but still the contracts were pouring in by the dozens, newly arrived adventurers tempted by wealth or the finest of weapons and armor. The Puragaus' new form was still wracked with agony at times, memory of the torturous promotion ritual yet fresh in mind. His abishai flesh had been cut and peeled back, vile substances poured in all while he screamed for days. Lord Bel himself had watched over the proceedings near the end, and for that Kyzburkzurl felt pride in his black heart.

One contract in particular looked to have the best payout of all. For it Kyz lingered in libraries filled with court documents and records, putting his expert grasp of law to the task of finding loopholes. So far, a few stood out, and he would bring them to the signee once verified....

Kyzburkzurl staggered through the gate spell to Avernus and collapsed, throwing up acidic slime that ate a hole into the rust colored dirt. His wounds had completely regenerated for what seemed the hundreth time, but the process of healing so much so fast was enough to sicken even a Puragaus. Despite everything Zephon and his lackeys had dished out, they could not finish him off and prevent escape.

He wiped the steaming guck from his fangs and stood, smashing a curious lemure into a stain on the ground in agitation.

There were victories, defeats, and defeats you turned into victories. He now knew just who his target's allies were, how they fought together, how they reacted to circumstances.

Kyzburkzurl chuckled gutterally, and took flight towards a portal back to sigil, a thousand plots brewing in mind...

He stopped to gather breath, infernal energy exhausted from the colossal battle. It had been pure circumstance that Kyzburkzurl and Zephon had crossed paths in Pazunia, but the chance to send the incubus to true death had been too juicy to pass up. The two fiends clashed, Zephon's sword gouging away at his adamantium like scales and Kyz hurling searing hellfire that charred flesh and armor. There had been no final triumph, they were too evenly matched for that (and oh how that thought filled the greater baatezu with disgust), but he would call this third battle a victory. He had blasted two of the tanar'ri allies into so much charred meat and fought the champion of Pazuzu to a standstill on his own lord's home ground; the disgrace at Maldomini was now evened.

Even was not enough with what was at stake.... It was now time to go before the Dark Eight.

The man sitting behind the desk nodded as Kyzburkzurl entered the room, stooping to pass under the doorway. The baatezu curled it's wings around itself, crouching in a more comfortable resting pose. "It's all going splendidly. They still think I'm just after one of them, and they know nothing about your part in it. It is just about time...for our agreement to go into full swing. "Kyz rumbled.

The man replied, talked about guarantees and favors, but the devil wasn't really listening too closely. Too busy thinking about how entertaining the hammer dropping would really be. The assassin had served her part well, agitating the prey, and the clever Brachina was suprising even him with her trickery.

Kyzburkzurl licked it's fangs. The Indeps, and their beloved "freedom", were in for a very bad time.

Blood ran thick in Avernus. Diabolic defender, demonic invader, the ichor of unfortunate soul shells, all pooled and flowed through the craters and fissures fromed from war. A pack of lemures surrounded one such pool, chittering in the mindless noise that passed for speech among their lowest of castes. One of the blubbery little creatures bent to lap at the black liquid churning in the pit, scabbed tongue flicking in and out. It dimly became aware of something moving near it's head...too late. Liquid red tendrils shot out and gripped a dozen of the wretches, dragging them in as they jibbered and screeched. The iron earth around the pit melted and flowed like mud, all the ingredients of reformation mixing together and then rising up out of the infernal muck. Legs, then a torso, then furled wings began to take shape, as the gathering essence gave a tortured howl from a half formed mouth.

The foul muck began to slough off, revealing red scales and jagged claws. Kyzburkzurl looked down at it's newly reformed vessel, breathing steaming mist from the agonizing nature of the whole affair. That banishment had been particularly potent; just how much time had passed since it had been undone in the upper planes? It supposed it would soon find out. The puragaus stretched out it's wings and took off, flying to report to it's master.
