It was a different age, a different Sigil.

When the Scholar had come across the strange collections of notes, he had at first passed it off as ramblings, meaningless ciphers – madness. As his fingers carefully unlocked the bronze sphere and he saw the random assortments of leaflets of paper within, he couldn't deny that a mystery had unfolded before him...

Though he searched, none could source the sphere's origin. Aging put the sphere at what would be at least a thousand years old. The leaflets within were kept perfectly and magically preserved by the sphere's magic. Likewise, none could guess what the strange assortments of letters and numbers scribbled onto the pages could possibly mean – and Legend Lore only revealed that the syntax shared some things in common with classification systems used by Modrons.

Translation would not pose a simple task...

    Where The Ring Begins [/li]
Many have questioned this unit on the origin of its Ring in the days since it began its research. It has searched and searched its memory banks for even the slightest inkling of its separation from the Modron Collective.

It has no answers. Its memories of placement in the Modron Collective are already vague. It remembers Tridrones and Monodrones. It remembers work. Mining, perhaps? It would explain its first memory of having awakened.

This unit found itself laid prone against the wall of a cave in the Plane Of Concordant Opposition. Its eyes opened and received Visual Feed, and systems Regulated. However, it immediately knew that its energy signatures had been entirely altered. Within its corpus was being stored massive amounts of energy – more than it could ever concieve.

This energy was not of Mechanus. It will always remember what Mechanus feels like. It was not stable, measured, even. It was variable – inconsistent. It would flow evenly one moment, then flush into this unit in the next – but the energy that was present within never went past a certain threshold.

It was exhilarating.

This unit recalls wandering the caves for many long hours. It was unsure what it was suppose to do. There was no Function, Directive or Order. There was no Supervisor.

The rabbit found this unit as it wandered. It was strange to feel the familiar scritching of a mammalian mind entering its thoughts. It would later learn that few mammals or mortals would be able to decipher the workings of its mind.

The rabbit was lost as well. It indicated that it had awoken much the same as this unit had. This unit craved someone that understand the mysteries, if only in its sharing of a lack of understanding.

We walked for many hours before what would become the familiar peak of Automata with its consistent nights and days was laid out before us.
