From the Journal of Arabella Vane

Well, IÂ’m finally out of alteration shop at the Civic Festhall! After years of tailoring, sewing, and making adjustments on adventurersÂ’ outfits, I finally decided to take a shot at it myself, gear up, and explore the city. So far, so good. I took some of the money I saved from work and headed to the market. I found two small blades and practiced the strikes a monk showed me a while back, purchased a nice backpack and some swift boots as well.

My first stop was to Khazeet to get a drink and hear of any rumors. I met up with a young man named Zeke, and we talked fashion for a while (he really needs to stay away from dull colors and pastels with his hair and eyes, but I donÂ’t want to get into that right now). Zeke stood up for me after being rudely interrupted by an older man with no manners and made me feel quite safe. After that, I headed down to the sewers for my first exploration. As expected, lots of bugs, spiders, and terrible smells.

To my luck, I met up with some great people who helped me explore deeper than I expected to go. Lady Cox, a mage of some talent, warded me well against the goblins and kolbolds (as I believe theyÂ’re called) of the lower levels. She has some wit about her and a very commanding presence. Later I met up with Roland and his love, Kari. HeÂ’s a knight and they have matching, flaming swords. I thought it was pretty cute. A new girl in town, Sophie, joined as well. SheÂ’s a singer, dancer and a bodyguard, and we had wonderful luck finding some very useful items in our explorations. Roland and Kari guarded as well and made sure we didnÂ’t get into too much trouble.

IÂ’m sure the gals at the alteration shop wonÂ’t believe half the things IÂ’m going to share with them. Speaking of which, I need to get off to work! A noblewoman is still waiting on a final hem adjustment to a gown she need for an upcoming dance. ItÂ’s a busy life!

Sweet Love, -A.V.

Well, the girls at the alteration shop think IÂ’m officially crazy. I canÂ’t believe how much chatter they had for stepping out of the shop and getting my hands dirty from a little adventuring.

Speaking of which, itÂ’s been a fun past few days. After thoroughly exploring the sewers more times than I can remember, I finally took a portal today outside of Sigil to the Beastlands. Outside of all the ravenous monsters blasting us with spells, it was really pretty. Lady Cox, Cam, and a warrior who looked like a glorified moth (we had a couple talks about his choice of style and color) were all there. My prayers are becoming more steadfast, and my fighting skills keep improving. I think itÂ’s time to add an enchantment or two to my weapons. They need a little bit of a kick.

While IÂ’m on the subject, itÂ’s been good getting to know an excellent enchanter named Gwyn. She has quite a story, to say the least. Ganelon, a merchant, has also been very helpful and gave me a good deal on a pair of magical kamas. Note: Find a way to get a hold of some fire essences. Gwyn said thatÂ’s what we need for an amulet of wisdom, which would really help my prayers.

Well, looks like I need to get going. That gown is finished, but I have an appointment today to measure a councilmember for a few suits. I hope heÂ’s something of a gentleman. ThereÂ’s nothing more annoying than an awkward guy dropping cheesy pick-up lines while youÂ’re measuring an inseam.

From the Journal of Arabella Vane

What a crazy last month! IÂ’ve seen more places in the past few weeks than I have during all of my time growing up in Sigil. The Beastlands were dangerously beautiful, the Elemental Plane of Ice was silently and eerily gorgeous, the Ethereal Plane was a dreamy mystery, and IÂ’ve even found more places under the city that I did not know were there! All the girls in the Festhall think IÂ’m crazy, and rightly so. We see a lot of adventurers come in to get their clothes and armor fitted, and many donÂ’t return. Thank goodness for Cam during our last trip to the Plane of Ice and his ability to rise the dying. A massive elemental beat me down hard (though I must say I gave it a good lick with my kamas before I fell).

And itÂ’s a great thing IÂ’m stumbling across so much treasure. Khasef and Gwyn have been amazing at providing me excellent gear at very reasonable prices. IÂ’m continuing to add gems and essences to my collection and looking over new recipes for helpful equipment.

On the fashion side of things, IÂ’ve been busy. I have an appointment with Caedmon soon to give his outfit a second look. I was also very impressed with a wood elf named Lel. He had a lovely sense of colors complimentary to his hair and skin tones. I wonÂ’t say the same for Tomas, however. He needs to come in and have all the girls do their magic in a complete makeover.

In the meantime, busy, busy, busy! Between work, fashion consulting, and exploring the planes, I'm hardly finding time for sleep! Time for a nice cup of tea, some dark chocolate, and a long night's rest.

My goodness! Where do I start? These last few weeks have put my heart in a spin. Caedmon and I spent almost a full day working on a more formal outfit for him. Fortunately I was allowed to clock in and was paid for my time helping him. After contrasting lots of colors, comparing fabrics, measuring inseams, and hemming cuffs he was good to go! I was well-pleased with his look and am thankful for the time taken to make him look fabulous!

What else? Cam seems a little down lately. Sophie and I took him to the Ethereal Plane for the first time because it felt like he needed to get out of Sigil. That place is so eerie (the Ethereal Plane, although the same could be said for Sigil as well). Afterward we explored more of the plane of ice. Sophie and I made a snowman in the that looked like him to try to get his spirits up. IÂ’m not sure how well it worked, but we had a good time. Speaking of Sophie, I sure hope she gets some work soon. Adventuring can pay a few jink, but getting by on a day to day basis is another story altogether. Sophie asked if I was interested in Cam, or if there was something going on between us. I think weÂ’re just friends, at least I hope so.

In between work IÂ’ve been exploring more and more planes, some that IÂ’ve never even heard of before. Mercuria, a Celestial Plane, was a TieflingÂ’s nightmare: paladins, priests and other goody-goodies everywhere! My skinÂ’s never itched so much in one place! On the contrary, I had the chance to step into the Abyss for the very first time. My goodness! IÂ’ve never see so much fighting! Devils and demons clawing at each other at every turn! I think the demons sensed a bit of my heritage, as they seemed to come after me much more aggressively than the devils.

Other than that, life seems to be okay. IÂ’m waiting for a shipment of silk from the primes to work on a new dress for a close friend of mine. She loves summer tones and cool colors, and I think the fabric will be perfect for it!
