Of All Things...
  • “I don't get it. What good it brings to anyone that you send me to Sigil?”, I inquired from Grand Blade, my tribe's and many other tribes' leader, who also doubled as a mentor to whoever he saw worth his attention.
  • “You will see soon enough, young Khom. Keep your eyes peeled and senses sharp. That city shows outward just a mask of peace, there is much strife there. Seek it and learn from it”, he stated annoyingly cryptic and then snapped his jaws shut, pointing markedly at the portal between two monolithic stones.
That was my cue to stop pestering him and to walk through the portal. And that I did, arriving to the streets of Sigil at what was once called “Plaza of Peace”, but nowadays a rather ransacked looking park somewhere near the Great Bazaar – long forgotten though and for most part left for razorvines to rule. Without further ado I navigated my way through the pesky vines and headed to the heart of the bazaar...

Musings...

Strife I've found, not so much in the city itself than at places it has connections to – a vast array of unusual and not so unusual planes of existence. Maybe that is one reason I was sent here? To condition my mind and my body to adverse situations, unexpected situations, threats which I had no idea of before stepping a foot to this city of disarray.

Before I left “home”, I was given only the basic necessities to start with – everything else was left to my own devices. And seems I'm getting along quite fine – already managed to scrape enough coin to purchase an armor of quality fitting a true War Priest. Carving the symbols of Morrigan took a while thought, but I think my handiwork with them is pleasing. Ha, as if she cared. Or maybe she does, I don't know, but just in case she does I took care that each curve and notch is as it should be.

I got a promise of battle, sort of, in form of informal “invitation” to Iron Tusks, which is some or other clan of Nishrek'ian orcs. Intriquing, although I have my doubts how they'd fare in a true war – cunning they are, yes, but not terribly intelligent... But maybe I'll find some use for them – we'll see – if not for anything else, then as fodder.

Seems that the most courteous of these folks in this haphazard city seem to be fiendlings, at least most of them seem to comprehend true speech, the language of my ancestors, instead of resorting to the kludge called “Common”. The others though seem to lack brain capacity, but I'll tolerate them as long as they prove useful or profitable to me.

Weapons of War

I knew what I wanted, but I still rose a question about how would I like my weapons be enchanted. Why so? Maybe to drive a good bargain or due a certain level of respect to one who is not my blood and yet can speak my tongue. Nonetheless, I am now armed with something else that sticks and stones – what will be the next step?

And the next day I purchased a halberd. Whatever I do with that? Good question, but I think it doesn't hurt to have an idea how to use each and any weapon presented, or lack of weapon...

My job is not to bring havoc, but it certainly put a measure of smile on my jaws to raze that little palace of who-knows-what god or godling. In all good sport I told them my intent – to wreck them. Rather surprisingly the response to my words was laughter, which however ended when the first head fell...

Setting a Foot to Baator
  • "Time to teach you a lesson about war!", the lizard roars, charging into battle...
((and music for it))
