Stories and Suspense [size0]"Like all good stories, not everything is to be told right away, suspense ya know." - Benny
It started like any other day, but ended to disaster and mystery. Did she survive? Or did she fall because of his failure?...
*earlier that day*
Berrenny stepped out to the public, looking through the merchants for their trinkets, and met with few he had traveled with before, the barmy axeman and the adept arcanist, together they decided to go for a travel through the grayed wastes. Things became fast paced and the undead were hacked down rather fast on each turn, and they returned to Cage victorious, and at least few of them, Berrenny included, satisfied of the amount of colours once more, well as colourful as the damp streets gets anyhow, but colours none the less.
Then came the rumours of the becoming auction, not that Berrenny had much coins to spend, but it was something he wanted to witness anyhow, so he made his way to the Foul Olde Spirit Inn, relaxing around a table and waited for it all to start, seemed like Rith, another he had traveled with earlier came to the event as well and joined with him to the table, to which he in his usual flamboyant manner greeted.
At times he and her went on a bargain competition to win the same trinket, though mostly Berrenny didn't actually even want them, but rather purchase them to Rith instead, a twisted sort of amusement for him, it came time for a bow which he purchased, fine one with enchanted flame arrows, walked back to the table triumphantly and simply passed it to Rith without any real explanation, but it certainly came quite clear why he's mostly out of jink. Many things were bought and sold, Berrenny and Rith got a few and another female also got plenty, one he had met earlier at time he was close to get mugged had he not fled.
This female seemed to viciously raise the bids just to make them pay more, but perhaps it was merely a misunderstanding. After the auction, Berrenny however decided to pay his own odd type of humour to the female and made a deal with Muriel and Rina to get this mystery female that kept bidding against him and Rith the cheapest the house could get, with a note that it would be a 'love token' from mystery admirer, which would be promptly pointed to be him.
Though the reaction was mild, he did his part grinning and tipping his hat at the female none the less. But the auction was over, it was time to go test all the purchased gear with Rith down to the Under Sigil.
A little conversation of origins passed as they traveled lower and lower, finally they reached to the blacksmiths door, Berrenny told Rith to hold up a bit as he needed to prepare, he hummed tunes to gather the arcane energy to ward and assist him and Rith on the upcoming fight, however it seemed like the orcs heard them, rustling and loud clangs could be heard, the door was about to give up and they weren't ready. Berrenny stepped forward to meet up the foes despite his unprepared state... it was a mistake, a single wave of hammer and the floor invited him to its grasp, the world went dark, cold and then he lost his consciousness.
He woke up later, not on floor, not on bed, there was warmth and crackling sound close, head throbbing of the impact still, hands tied... it took moment of realization that he couldn't move or leave, so he tried to look around, seeing the orcs grunting and looking through possessions, his possessions. Well he didn't quite mind that, he had other priorities to tend to... at least they made one mistake he thought, they didn't bind his mouth, his greatest weapon... now he just needed to wait for the right moment.
Berrenny looked around, but couldn't see Rith around... did she get away? Or did they kill her? He cringed slightly, first things first, need to get out. The orcs found his newly bought shirt amidst of his possessions and it seemed to spark up greater tension and argument, likely of the splitting, so he used this moment to hum as quietly as he could for arcane enchanted tune to help him concentrate in getting his hands freed, which succeeded, well partially at least, he got his left hand freed, though the hand bloodied of the rough bindings grasp, with the other hand he helped his right hand free also. Following the situation he waited until right time to jump to the shadows, well figuratively speaking.
Thinking long and hard what to do, the fight wouldn't last long... unless... unless he helped them to make up their mind in hostile manner... spotting some valuables in a nearby chest, he treaded his way really carefully and painfully slowly, taking a neclase and coins, which he took to one of the beds, hiding under the pillow, save the neclase which he set partially under and partially visible... trap was set, he sneaked back to the pole he was earlier tied on and imitated being still, though preparing to make a run for it...
The argument quitted with angry grunts and his possessions were put to the chests, until... one of the orcs pointed at the bed he had set the trap... angry grunts returned and the pillow was removed, now started a real argument and one defensive grunting, weapons were drawn, bad move and the fight started, metal clanking on metal and he made a run for it, though sticking low and went to one of the chests, he was spotted, damn it all, he snatched what he could and went for run, the orcs seemed unkeen to pursuit due to their own internal troubles...
At least he had got out, but what of Rith? He rubbed his hands and made his way to the public baths, relaxation and rest was what he really needed now.
Companions and Relations [size0]"Optimist? Nah... I'm oppositionist, when others are pessimist, I'm optimist and when they're optimists, I'm a perssimist." - Benny
Rith Colt Despite popular belief, I don't have a real crush on her, I mean sure, she's attractive in her own way, but she's also rather selfish, not unusual trait by any means and I don't judge her for that. At least she has a good sense of humor, just wish that I can help her to get around the "difficult" words and seeing things from other perspectives than just self-gain. Alas she doesn't seem very receptive to my attempts and gets easily annoyed. Astarot Adept arcanist dappling to secret arts rather than the mundane arcane, I suspect reason is mostly due to him being a hasty personality, always on the move, no patience for studying tomes. Yet he still has potential. Emiko Tamazaki Ah Emiko, sweet lady Emiko. Woman with heart and soul in right place, keen eyed and a talented warrior on top of it all. I'm sure one day she will get far, and become part of her own stories. Judging the unfamiliar words, common is not her first language. Sensei Teuso Intriguing fellow, a blind martial artist, whom posed as a beggar in an auction until he suddenly purchased with a sum of coins equal to all earlier purchases. Then later made a proposition to me that he'd give me a powerful flute in exchange for a favor, of course I made sure that this favor could not involve me into affecting harm to anyone directly or indirectly. I need to be careful if the time comes. Selmar Either mad or really stupid, simple fellow that goes forth for killing things or finding soup. It seemed lady Emiko had fixed some damage on his head, a splinter of adamantium in the head I hear. Kh'ara'nak Soulaxe A dwarf like any other, talented with axe like many of their kind. And seemingly genuinely interested of the well being of the groups he travels with. A sense of honor seems to guide him, but doesn't see eye to eye with mine. Granted with my jesting, very few does. [/li]
Past and Motivations [size0]"My view of existence? I'm here to travel and learn, see things from different perspectives to find my own path in midst of the sea of routes." - Benny
So far I've kept my past a secret from curious ears, it's never anything useful that I get anyhow. Former noble, farmer, historian, servant, king, lord, smith or just plain old creep, it's the current that matters. Though I still wish at times that I could return to home, despite all the wonders, there's never a place like home... Ah, and sweet Adeleine, couldn't forget about her, and her I truly miss day after another, but my hopes is up that she got a better life, I just wish I could tell what really happened to her.
It's always curious to see how others react to what you do, today I attempted to assist a female see things from other perspectives and without really telling her to do as I say, rather share my opinion, yet I receive a stern talking that I'm trying to force my views. It makes me wonder how do others view my words? Do they believe I think mine is the only definite word or as advice they can choose to follow or not? I'd hope not the first considering the theatrical act I pull on everyone.
The Dark Figure [size0]"Kind of like Tanar'ri teaching dancing. Violent, but instructive." - Benny
Oh dear, today was just a nightmare. I had just gathered myself to play some tunes in public and then this psycopath walked to me telling that he wanted me to make a song for him while he's going to kill someone. Nuh-uh that ain't no way I be working, so I single handedly knocked him out and delivered him to Harmonium whom cheered that I found a wanted criminal.
Well I only wrote that because it sounds so much better than reality. Actually I tried to resolve the matter peacefully, while he taunted me to attack him and promised that he'd assault and kill someone, he finally forced my hand... I attacked him, he fled, only to nearly kill someone. Luckily she could be saved, but it was too close...
I made another observation. Sometimes to do the right thing, you have to go against what everyone are telling you, twice today... I gave full report to Harmonium of the incidence, and it would seem this is not first time the figure was doing this.
Much to my displeasure there came another, looking exactly like the one earlier, doing the same praying.. he was unresponsive so my initial reaction of drawing sword to defend myself faded and I sheathed... I did not want blood of innocents in my hand. Besides the man couldn't be only religious in black robe... someone taunted me to stop doing it so they called the Harmonium... this is where things got bad, they assumed this man was casting a spell, but I'm not sure of it... the Harmonium struct the man down, despite my effort to prevent it... I tried to heal him, but it was too late.
I can only hope he was the man and got what he deserved. However the nagging feeling doesn't stop that this is not the last I've seen of him. The game is not over yet...
