Conversed with local drunkards "Kelth" and "Dom," unable to gather information of much value with respect to location of Old Nehla. Neither of them seemed overly concerned with the death of a child until I confronted them about it. Kelth mentioned that he lost a child before, so I did not pester him further. Impression: Kelth is bitter about the death of his child, curious to know background, motives.
Reserved an item from Dom which will allow me to traverse areas at risk for firebombs. Impression: Was rather surpised that Dom had just the thing I needed- or inquired about. Either this is fortuitous, or I suspect Dom has a vast collection of items at his disposal.
Also met Half orc who didn't bother to give me his name. Ranted on about propoganda wars and how every reporter sleeps to get to the top. Impression: I've seen many who hide behind rants and the judging of others. Am curious to know what this one is hiding.
Heard predictable, but nonetheless annoying banter about my 'protection' heading into the Hive.
The leader of a semi-defunct consortium. I told him how I like to subtly spin the news towards an Indep agenda, and he offered some even-handed advice. Impression: A sensible man and a fellow Indep. I am intrigued by a possible alliance with him.
Nero:
The longest, and most substantial conversation of the day- well spoken and polite. A passionate fellow and self-described avenger. A champion of the indigent. He reminds me of the Sons of Mercy based in the Hive. Escorted me down to the buried Village, but I had to let him go in order to work properly. Will help me with my investigation into the Old Nehla case. Impression: One of the most likable personalities. Lots of promise with potential to work together. I briefly thought about letting him know what I really am.
Wanted her clothes, so I traded her some jink, some books, and clothes of my own. Actually I wanted to see what she looked like underneath that mask. After the transaction we had an interesting conversation. Here is her life..."story." "All life.. .I travel... with kin. our..ship..you call it... ride the ash. Winds of cinder.. carry us on.. always.
I hear the wind.. I hear the fire. All that speaks.. I listen and I guide kin's ship.
I konw the wind.. heed its guidance... help kin's ship steer right and not be ..lost in cinder storms...
We live.. we die.. on ash dunes... trade... goods. Gems..brass...water..skin..so we ... live.
Then we die...given to the fire...ashes given to wind...
Impression: An outsider who is a challenge to converse with, yet her life story is so different from mine. I am glad I had the chance to sit down and have her share her experience. The way she spoke, and the words she used took me to a different place, delved me momentarily into a different culture. I savored it while I could. Best 67 jink I ever spent.
Gave me some scrolls to study from. Improved the arsenal of spells at my disposal. Discussed that he was going to help establish a school with Kelth in the Hive. I want to help.
Rith:
An absolutely insane man/shapeshifter. Will expose him so that the City knows. Am genuinely afraid he will murder me before I complete investigation - but will put up a brave face in SIGIS.
Neli La Meor:
Ducked into her estate to hide from Rith. Confronted her about shady past. Discussed things with Nero, changed my mind, and tried to persuade her to help us. Told her about the Blue Stiletto.
Nero:
Investigation continues with him. Unfortunately we're both targets. Friction between us about Neli, but we managed to reconcile.
I awoke slumped over an outdoor table in the Lady's Ward with little to no recollection of what occurred. There were dents on my left arm, along with a small burn mark that had been hastily wiped off.
Nero confronted me about a strange aspect to my behavior. Somehow, from that observation, he managed to extrapolate what I really am. He then revealed to me that he, too, is not all he seems. Had a chat in a mountain in Mercuria afterwards.
Met Tier - he was looking for work so I asked him to be my eyes and ears.
Spoke at length, I wanted his advice and potential Indep help in my investigation. I was willing to hire any Indep mercs he had at his disposal, or at least in his network. All of the Indep avenues of action were currently occupied, so he suggested that I speak directly to the Revs. He revealed to me that he had contacts within the Anarchists, and would work to set up a meeting between myself and a cell leader in the Hive with a soft spot for the media. I will try to convince this cell leader to keep his cronies away from me while I conduct my investigation. *Impression: I respect Charles greatly, and trust his judgement, though IÂ’m not quite sure if I trust the judgment of the Revs in the Hive.
Quorrit: Had a lengthy exchange with Quorrit in my Inn room, he told me of his Athasian history and gave some background information about his homeworld. Realized that he was illiterate, so I’m going to try and teach him. Told him to be my eyes and ears – he insisted he’d only do so if no innocents were harmed. *Impression: One of the few I trust, and even more so, after he questions my motives, and asserts his priority for the innocent over my own investigation.
Chardon:
Got him to autograph my scroll-case! My friends will be so jealous! He couldnÂ’t stick and chat too much afterwards, likely was on his way to rescue a baby from a burning building.
Dom:
Always fun with him. Was playing dressup- when apparently.. it happened again and Dom took notice. He was alarmed, but assured me that my secret is safe. He was far less assumptive than Nero was when trying to figure out what had occurred. *Impression: If there was one person IÂ’d be comfortable with knowing, itÂ’s him. Despite his capricious nature, I can tell he has a benevolent streak.
