Basic Information
Assumed name: Aki is all she gives out.
Aliases: The same.
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: 22
Profession: Skilled masseuse, landscape painter and ninja.
Languages: Kozakuran, struggling with Common. She also has a basic grasp of draconic due to casual observance and familiarity with the draconic alphabet.
Accent: Possesses a peculiar and rather heavy Kozakuran accent.
Physical Information
Height: Slightly less than average.
Weight: The same.
Body build: The lean physique of an accomplished martial artist.
Skin type: Typical for a human with a few birthmarks.
Hair style: Long, slightly wavy hair usually kept in a ponytail.
Scars and tattoos: There is a thin scar on the left side of her belly Her hands are somewhat calloused along with signs of an old scraping injury along her right arm. Strange symbols have been burned into her wrists. Finally, a large, elaborate dragon tattoo covers her back from shoulders to waist.
Colouring:
Hair: Black
Eyes: Dark brown
Skin: Yellowish
Mental Information
Alignment: LE
Philosophy:
For order to prosper, for peace to reign, men must die.
To take lives is a privileged burden carried with honour, not power.
Each blade has two sides, in discipline lies strength.
Deity/Beliefs: The eight million gods. Most notably Chirasu, goddess of stealth and patron of thieves and the ninja.
Personality:
Humble. The prideful lose perspective and make fatal mistakes.
Aki has been treated poorly and conditioned to believe this.
Loyal. Disloyalty to the clan means death.
Betrayal of companions is dishonourable and shameful.
Direct. Many matters can be resolved quickly. Speak what needs to be said.
Running one's mouth about nonsense shows a lack of discipline.
Helpful. To allies, at least.
Prejudiced. These people around her aren't Kozakurans and so, there's something inherently wrong about them until they can prove otherwise.
Homesick. Aki misses the mist on the mountains, the rolling hills of cherry blossoms and the quiet fury of the distant sea.
Additional Information
Gear: The typical garb of her clan, middle class clothes, oaken tonfa, shuriken, diary, brushes and scrolls for painting and writing. Scented massage oil.
Jewelry: None.
Habbits/hobbies: Nodding. A habit brought about by habitual silence and social hesitation. She paints to earn a meager living and applies her extensive knowledge of anatomy and pressure points to massage folks willing to pay. A relatively benign side to her killing arts. Privately, she's fond of expressing her innermost feelings in poetry.
General Health: In good health, as far as she can tell.
Favorite Drink: A curious drink made of brewed rice that's regrettably rare in Sigil.
Weaknesses: Aki is afraid of deep water. Leaving Kozakura by boat was never an option. She is also concerned about being put in embarrasing situations and is (rather irrationally) self concious about her weight.
More to come...

Days pass. I will not put a number on this entry. These lands do not use my homeland's calendar so there is no point. The odd sky above offers me nothing to know the day and no one around me seems to care regardless. These notes are for me alone, regardless of time.
This is a place of wonder. No single block of houses seems the same and the locals are no different. I see many spirit folk and creatures of myth, all made flesh. Can this truly be so?
Sometimes I wonder if this is all a dream. Will I wake with everything the way it was? Which whim of my mind would make a place such as this? It seems so unlikely, though I still wish it to be so.
If this is all truly a dream, does anything I do matter anymore? Is this doubt my test? Perhaps I will truly never wake if I fall to this thought. I remember the dying speaking of seeing what wasn't there. At least, nothing I could see.
This isn't the land of spirits as I know it. If I fell, I haven't yet passed.
At times I sit alone, waiting, hoping the time has come to wake. How I would like to open my eyes and see our house. To hear the rain outside and the breathing of my kin beside me. Snow. Rain. Wind. All so distant in this place.
I cannot say how long it has been but the others must think me dead if I did vanish from our home. How I wish this isn't so. To be lost to them is not any life I wish to know. Brothers, sisters, no, I cannot abandon you all.

I've considered keeping track of time by counting the times I've slept.
It is rather pointless but I am given some small comfort by knowing. Having something to keep track on gives me an anchor to this strange world around me, making it less unimaginable. No matter, my life isn't at its end and to live in this place is better than not living at all. I've almost run out of money and so, I've used what I had left to buy supplies to earn a living. I cannot simply sit around and expect it all to change.
The other lands outside this city seem as varied as any back home but there is an unmistakable quality to them. They are no part of a whole, acting more like representations of a supposed ideal. It all seems so strange and it does nothing to make them any more real to my mind. They seem like theater props. No matter where I go, it is as if I am simply playing my part in a grand game. With a bit of imagination I can identify each actor's role and the stagehands behind it. There is a strange beauty to this, now that I think of it.
Can I dream of dreaming?

They are strange people and I do not understand their culture. At first glance, these are savages like the western barbarians I've read of but the other day I visited a house of art. They seem to have some refinement after all. Civilised or not, I do not trust them.
The locals have been kind. I've been granted infusions of magic to my tools for prices unimaginable back home. Others have had no qualms about leading me around, showing me the city and its peculiar oddities. This friendliness does not put me at ease at all. They want something, I am sure of it. In the case of the men, their motivation is shallow and easy to understand but what does the women have to gain from these excessive attempts at friendship?
I have tried to earn some money by offering my services but I understand there is a language barrier. Some take it the wrong way and others refuse, dismissing me as something I've managed to translate into money-dress. At first it confused me but the context tells me it isn't flattering at all!

I have started painting again. In part to earn a living but also to preserve my memories in ink. I do not want to lose sight of home and the memory of it must not fade. I started simple with the hills near our home, trying to capture the way the mist gathers about the foot of the mountain.
Perhaps I should follow a theme? Painting the path I would walk on my way to the village. I would like it preserved if I never return. The mountain path is so beautiful at night and I would like to capture the moonlight playing in the stream. All I truly need now is time and I do seem to have enough of it already.
These foreigners unnerve me. They seem devoid of any sense of shame and seem to care nothing for what others may think of their actions. The guards around the city seem calm and collected enough but their way is not my own, as I understand it. I do not wish to remain an outsider forever. Seeking the approval of these strange folk does not appeal to me but I need to find contacts and the means to work with them. How else am I to get home?

The food here is horrendous. Many here celebrate excess and the absolute nonsense is reflected in their cooking. Many of the dishes presented are intended to impress with exotic ingredients rather than provide nourishment.
I can choose to stop asking what I am being served or to restrict myself to the two dishes that I know to be safe. With my luck, any attempts to experiment will be rewarded with an otherworldly intestinal parasite.
There is much talk about the destroyers lately. Madmen who murder and demolish the city simply to prove they can. Some seem to think there is some grand ideological basis for this but all I see are dangerous men that must die.
What can I do to make this happen? To kill them alone would only make me a target of the guards. These foreign folk will not understand my ways...

Exploring alone is becoming increasingly difficult. What do I really have to gain from remaining in these frozen caverns? These reptiles offer little. I strike, they fall, I retreat to the shadows and await another. I would return to the relative comfort of the realm of the tree spirits but their ways grant me no new insights.
I will need to pay a sorcerer to bring me home but this is no way to earn enough gold. It takes far too long and if I wish to make any progress I will have to enlist the aid of the foreigners. Their company will undoubtedly deprive me of much profit but more will get done far quicker. I hate to have to rely on charity but the matter must be resolved and if I can convince one of them to part with their valuables for a good cause I will not suffer for it.
Who should I speak to? Who might offer me an outlet for my talents? How many must die before I have what I need? It matters not. Whoever will pay for the death of another will be a good start. The best and most likely source of such things would be to pursue criminals and other burdens on this city. Many will no doubt reward me for ending the ones that trouble them.
My painting of the mountain trail is done. I am in two minds about parting with it.
Little good will come from holding onto it but I do not wish to relinquish the one tie I have to the memory.
Still, I need the gold. Most of all, I need a buyer...

The spirit folk gather. The way they cluster and speak their strange tongue amongst themselves is disconcerting. I doubt they plan something directly harmful to my person but the way they isolate themselves even in a crowd with this alien babble boldly displays their intent to keep anyone out of their business.
They are planning something, I understand this much. This is no mere banter between friends. These creatures live for trickery and would mislead anyone else. This is the way of the spirit folk. Their game. There are certainly enough of them to cause damage as a unified force but I should learn more before warning the authorities.
I've eaten too much cheese lately. I can feel it. There is way too much of it.
The excess of these people has gotten to me. I will have to stick to bread for a few days. It will be cheaper.
During my afternoon walks I've come across several people carrying the daisho. These are not samurai. Have others come here as I did? Did these people murder them, taking their weapons? Warriors of the Shogun would never part with their weapons.

A strange thing happened the other day. During my latest foray into the icy hills I found the remains of several locals strewn about and when I stopped to investigate, a pair of demon folk emerged from the nearby cave. In spite of the climate, they were barely dressed and ran toward the portal. Judging by their weapons, they were responsible for the slaughter but why were they fleeing?
I left the hills quickly. Whether they were fleeing or simply leaving, that cave had nothing left for me.
I know something happened later and I have vauge memories of fighting wild savages but the details escape me. More recently I followed an odd looking man and one of the demon folk to the hills again. I am still not used to the sight of the tailed creatures but I found the presence of the man to be comforting.
His distanced mind and calmness in battle as well as what I could understand of his speech reminded me of the samurai.
I do not know how I came back to the city. Why does my memory trick me this way? Is it the recent stress or something more sinister?

I do not know if these people truly appreciate my paintings. I have heard them call my style simple and lacking in imagination. Only a few so far have the presence of mind to understand the symbolism inherent in what I try to portray.
The way I see it, if all that they see are trees, mountains and waterfalls, it is not my place to lecture them. They will have to learn on their own, if they choose to. Few bother to ask. It matters none as long as they pay. I am not so lost in myself that I stubbornly hold on to something that may benefit me if I give it up.
They can be uncultured savages if they so desire. As long as they are wealthy uncultured savages, appreciating only what they see, I will keep painting for them.
I killed again yesterday. He was a merchant from elsewhere, thinking himself above the system in place. He tried to remove his competition legally but I saw the deceit behind his ways. Given time, he would have done much damage to the system and so, he had to be removed. There was no one to pay me for the service. It is not something that troubles me though it is inconvenient. The authorities have been spared the wastefulness of pursuing another distraction and may focus on their own ways, whichever they may be. I expect no thanks.
