The air smelled of smoke and stale, while it vibrated with the sounds of the thousands of inhabitants of the city. Shayera's pace slowed as she adjusted the pack on her shoulders, taking the moment to take in her surroundings. Despite the fact it claimed itself to be the centre of the multiverse, it seemed like any other city, loud, smelly, and overall, somewhat rude...
But it had something else... a multitude of creatures, from a multitude of worlds, with more knowledge then any library in Tir Na Og... From the Abyss, to Celestia, creatures from across the planes congregated here. A sense of unease washed over here momentarily as she considered herself. Certainly not clueless, she certainly wasn't street savay either. Small village life in the Outlands exposed her to more then any prime world, but not like this. Back at home, she could even see the spire that the city sat atop, though, so could anyone in the Outlands. Stretching upwards and out of sight, she now sat atop it.
She swallowed hard as she moved though the markets, brushing by a tiefling here, even catching a glimpse of a mind flayer occupying a small corner. The homesickness had slowly been growing since she'd taken off in the middle of the night, leaving only a note in her wake. Perhaps it was guilt rather, but either way, it rolled in her gut.
"I'll write them a letter later..." She mumbled to herself, in hopes of placating the feeling. As long as they all knew she was alright, they wouldn't have reason to worry. Knowledge was what she needed, simply ignoring her... problem, wouldn't resolve it. And she needed more then what her small town could provide. But before that, she needed jink... Swallowing back the lump in her throat, she stepped into a makeshift bar, approaching the man with flaming red hair behind the bar, casually cleaning a mug...
