Kalina's eyes darted to the note pinned to the door, and the handful of words were quickly read and absorbed. A small smile curved the young woman's lips. Good. She followed her heart. I'll miss her, but she made the right choice.

Turning to depart from the Foul Old Spirit, Kalina's forehead crinkled as another pair of thoughts came unbidden to her mind. I suppose I no longer have an escort for the festival. And I suppose that "honeymoon" she promised is no longer a priority for her.

A fleeting look of disappointment crosses Kalina's attractive features, but soon the ever-present, practiced smile returns to her lips.
