Shortly after Altair, Vyse, and Quinn discover the true nature of the game Bet Your Life! They begin noticing disappearance and a drop in the number of berks asking them for duels. Was this connected to The Games? Soul Duels? All signs point to yes. Eventually word reaches them that a friend's body, Pepper Melage was found in the cultists temple. All attempts at bringing her back have failed and the Dustmen praise her for finding true death. Her deck of cards was found near her body but oddly enough the faces all appear to be blank.

//Yes I know it's cheese to use my own characters to further an event, but this is more my way of writing her out as Pepper would definitely try to help and I just don't need that headache. lol. This is also an open event to anyone who has a Bet Your Life! deck of cards and doesn't mind a different take on duels. Keep in mind though that if you loose a duel your character will be unplayable until the close of the event.

Aquilla shows up not long after talk of Pepper turning up with the Dustmen to pay whatever fees she has earned from their failed attempts to raise her. He then pays them more to keep storing her while he goes in search of her mother in the Hive ward.

Cera Melage collects Pepper's body from The Mortuary taking her home. She undresses her, and washes Pepper before dressing her in attire fit for a funeral.

"Bes' ah do dis now Luv. If'n I do this after, ah migh' no 'av tha strength."

Cera pulls out a shiny token with a star in it. She holds it in both hands taking a seat looking worried. What if it doesn't work? She might really have to really bury her. Did this Aqullia guy really care about it or was it all a game to him? Did it matter? It was his coin that paid the Dusties. It's his token that might bring her back.

"Ain't na sense in puttin' if off."

Cera grips the coin tighter and a tear slips from her eye.

"Ah wish me girl tha wha'e'er be holdin' be girl be removed so she kin come back ta life."

Cera watches closely for a few moments as nothing happens. Her face falls and she lets out a sob gripping to the coin tighter. She cries for several moments with the token biting into her hand.

"Wot good be ya, ya piece o sod!"

Cera tosses the token against the wall. It bounces off and lands on Pepper's chest. She throws herself over Pepper's body not even caring at the point. Tears flowing freely down her face. Moment later the token begins to glow with a golden light. Cera looks up striking a hand across her tear streaked face. A blue sphere begins to glow and hover over Pepper's body before colliding with Pepper's chest. Suddenly Pepper's eyes shoot open and she takes a deep breath coughing violently. Once it passes she looks up.

"Mum?"

Cera folds Pepper into a hug planting several kisses on her face and weeping openly.

"Ah girl, ah thought I lost ya."

"By all account you should have Mum. How?"

Cera holds up the expended token.

"A wish token?" Pepper asks.

"Aye, tha Aqullia fella give'd it ta me."

Pepper kisses her mom then frowns deeply.

"I have to warn the others. Where's my cards Mum?"

"Wot ya need them silly finks fer?"

"I need them to fight the coming darkness."

Cera snorts, "You jest wait thar. Ah fink you gone barmy wot wif jest coming back ta life an all."

Pepper digs through her things and finds her deck. She jumps up and runs over to her mom planting a big kiss on her.

"Love ya mum, but I got ta do sumthin'. I'll do betta this time."

"Yer serious uh? Ya only get yer accent when yer excited." Cera blows out a sigh. "Ah'd tie ya ta a chair if'n ah twern't afear'd ya'd bite yer arm off ta get free. Tell yer friends then."

"Love you Mum."

"Dun give me none o dis love sod, just get yer bum back ta me."

Pepper kisses her mom before rushing to the door.

"An dun ferget to thank tha Aquilla fella!"

Cera shakes her head with a chuckle

"Barmey girl, gonna be tha death o me yet."
