Chant has it that the mortal Archmage of Necromancy, Bergimon Fellblade, done some negotiating with Lich Armillon and a Mummy. Cutters say that the conversation started with insults from both parties but after some time they managed to make a certain decision. Some say that the Lich will help to get rid of the undead infestation. . .

After a handful of weeks of relative quiet the explodeing deaders return, though this time they are much different. The forms of the puss spewing unliving range from naked fey women, probably from Brux to mis matched stitched abominatons, most of them part bugbear, part frost salamander.

The diseases still seem to be relativly harmless to all but the most frail passerby by the beasts are becoming harder and harder to take down before they explode on the intended target. The last deader to explode also releases a toxic cloud in its wake that sent half a dozen people from the area in a chokeing, coughing fit as foul energies attempted to suffacate them.

Somewhere in Sigil, a Bleaker urinates on the sloppy remains of a zombie

"This fellow has failed at nercomancy so badly.. He can't even make a proper zombie. That's like your bread exploding when you apply butter. No?"

The man shakes his head and resumes walking, speaking a few words every so often to the obese, onewinged bat perched on his shoulder.

The door to the room creaked open.....

The room exploded into chaos. As the door opened and a handful of alert and ensorceled heros stepped into the room, the carefully layered wards exploded to life. The first thing to happen was a series of flaming wards right near the enterence, which engulfed the threshhold in a tidal wave of flames. The heros who had banded together to locate the source of the exploding undead were expecting traps of negative energy and instant death and had prepaired accordingly, they hadnt prepaired for fire based traps and that mistake cost one of the band their life when the last of three wards exploded.

The others stormed into the room, slightly singed but otherwise able to fight, and fight they did as those who made it past the initial traps had to contend with a handful of pathwork undead, part bugbear part frost salamander and some with unidentifiable limbs. The chaos was short and brief with the band defeating the handful of guardians with out much of a sweat. The owner or owners as some of the group suspected were no where to be found though they seemed to have left alot of lab equipment behind, a mistake that left the band hopeful of being able to track the culprits down somehow.

The room didnt have time to be ransacked though as the first item opened was a large chest along one side of the wall. The lid was lifted slowly and the group peered in to find an empty chest, but the underside of the lid held a note so it was plain for all to see.

"Out to lunch, try back later".

The group smirked and as the lid began to close one of them, a sneaksmen by trade suddenly cried for them to stop but it was to late. The lid shut and time seemed to crawl as the sound of smashing glass issues from somewhere near the chest, and a moment later a fireball erupted blasting the group away from the chest. The blast it self wasnt enough to kill the average "hero", but that wasnt the purpose of the carefully hidden "Oil of Impact". The blast dislodged and shattered a carefully placed chain of said vials strewn across the tables and lab equipment which sadly the band didnt have time to investigate. The explosions chained along the walls and lab equipment rocking the room and blinding the band who could do nothing but duck away from the conflagration. When the cacophony died down the band looked with dismay at the now ruined lab equipment which lay in piles of ash and broken unidentifiable parts and debris, and to their further grief the remains of the undead were incinerated by the intense flames leaving a handful of neat ash piles strewn about the floor.

Dr Ebon smiled as he watched his red robe associate pace back and forth.

"It was too soon, we should have waited longer before we started the tests" red robe muttered as he sat down as his desk, wringing his hands in irritation.

"Yes but it was bound to happen sooner or later, the first round of tests were expected to fail, even those of our extreme mental ability make mistakes...after all you have to break a few..." Dr Ebon began to say.

"Dont you dare throw mothers egg quote at us" red robe sighed as he opened his spell book and began to flip, directionless through its pages.

"Its true though" Dr Ebon purred as he stood and moved to his comrades side.

"Yeah well mother was a terrible cook" red robe shot back as he swiped at Dr Ebons hand as it attempted to rest upon his shoulder.

"We knew this was going to happen, that is why we built this back up lab. It is safe on another plane and will take along time for them to realse the undead no longer originate from within sigil, we have bought ourselves alot of time" Dr Ebon whispered to his companion before he turned and shuffled away to talk with his personal assistant, Sergi Malakvish.

"Where are you two going?" red robe asked with a curious look, shutting his spell book with a forceful thud.

"Back to Sigil, and the mortuary our work must go on but why dont you rest for now and let me take over?" came the soft response.

Dr Ebon looked back and saw his companion was gone, resting no doubt and he promptly turned and shuffled away.

Sergi Malakvish, Dr Ebons personal assistance has learned alot from the Doctor so far and trusts the man with his unlife, but he cant seem to figure out why the doctor occasionally appears to converse with someone who isnt really there.....
