"I'm willing to help like the others. For a fee of course. This is a dangerous city if you don't know where to look."

Henette nods.
"Of course, our prince is not your prince and we would not expect you to work for free. We can offer you gold that the people at your planar coin exchange is worth five thousand jink, each. While you consider I shall tell you what leads we have so far. The kidnappers broke into the princes quarters in the palace, we believe they sedated him some how as he was being carried unconscious when the guard spotted them. Two of them fled with the body and four held of the guard. They were all children of Set, but you would call them Yuan ti. We killed one of thek and we found these amongst his belongings."
She reaches for a bag and opens it. Amongst the contents are a small number of coins, a dagger some leaves, a bottle or black liquid and three scraps of paper.
"The writings are all in the language of this place we do not understand the markings on them."
On closer inspection the three scraps of paper read as follows.

After careful review I have decided to uphold your appeal. Please see below the permit to allow you acsess to the portal ledger for the duration of one hour. I suggest you begin your search with ledger entry 453609. I remind you this permit will expire within a month of issue. Good luck with your research.

The priest listens on, smiles at the group then takes a closer look at the items- trying to identify the leaves first, then examining the dagger for marks or crests or unusual or typical design.
Next are the coins, then the bottle with the dark liquid which he does not dare to open, offering each item to the other mercenaries as well.
He ponders about what he read and not very familiar with Sigil himself he hesitates, trying to remember what he knows abot the City of doors. Then checks the last scrap of paper for a date.
"...I think we should start there. Asking this A9 if he remembers something. And what this ledger is about. Perhaps a portal to...", looks at Henette "..your Prime but perhaps also leading elsewhere. If we are lucky those items might be keys."

John doesnÂ’t pay a large amount of attention to the papers. The ways of civil bureaucracy and factions are foreign to him. He does, however, inspect the other objectsÂ… particularly the leaves, liquid and the knife. HeÂ’s a woodsman whoÂ’s spent 20 years as a professional military scout and tracker. His strength lies with these sorts of thingsÂ… not receipts and permission slips.
He nods to Normans suggestion on where to start.

The laves are very dark, narrow an pointed with an almost wax like sheen to them. and a slightly sweet smell still clings to them. As the stopper is pulled from the potion bottle the sweet smell of the leaves is overwhelmed by a bitter stench, as it is inhaled it makes everyone feel a little giddy and drowsy.
Henette watches them discuss there next steps.
"We will await you here."
(//Craft alchemy for Pinom as he tries to identify the potion and Survival for Pinom and John as they examine the leaves please, craft weapon for John as he examines the dagger please.)

Experiences saves John where knowledge fails him, although he is no smith during his time as a solider he has blades made from this before. Gehennan Morgoth Iron known for its potency against creatures from the upper planes. The leaves he thinks he knows by sight and closer inspection confirms this. Leaves from the lotus flower, favoured equally by gardeners perfumers and poisoners alike for its beautiful bloom intoxicating scent and the deadly toxin that can be extracted from it.
