she might try to peeks at the body closely too, to see if anything else comes out beyond she caught from nero examination. ((who need ranks in skills tell me. gonna pm 'em))

[Make it up. If you want your character to recognize these two NPCs, just say, "Oh, yeah. That's Jane and John! They live next door to my sister's baker's mother's gardener! Seriously, you cannot mess this up. Insert details as you wish, take reasonable liberties if you think they'll be fun for everyone involved. I assure you, this cannot be ruined by your imagination.]

[Also! Don't you dare use numbers! No skill rolls, saves, attack rolls, or anything like that. This is RP (Dammit)! And numbers have no place in RP. You know what your characters can and can't do. RP responsibly!]

Naldarov, the mercenary soon stumbles upon the sight but keeps reasonable distance noticing the Hardheads.

"Oi, 'em leatherheads tryin' ta 'investigate' a 'ive murder. Heh, le'ss see 'ow it turns out..."

He then waves and calls over:

"Oi! Zis skirt's tag's...really, dun' r'member it. All oi kno' is dat 'er boyfrien' used ta bet a fockin' lot o' jink in pitfights 'roun zhe 'ive. Migh' be jinkmongahs takin' zhe debts..."

She gazes passivly back as the hard head and waits for her to finish issueing orders before she replies her tone of voice is its usual calm polite slightly distant sound

"Someone has been taken before they are ready for true death, a crime that should no doubt be punished but I would work more efficently with the resources atthe mortuary.

As nero opens the locket her eyes flicker over it a look recogntion crosses her face

"I recognise her face, I've seen her around the hive but I don't know anything about her."

Again as Alathra takes stock of the facts and puts what she knows into words Annia stands calmly and patiently watching and listening her eyes rest on the body but her interest could at best be considered dethatched and distant it is only once she is act a direct question that she responds in any noticeable way.

“I would say that I will need to move the body if I am to perform as quickly and efficiently as would be possible, so I would have your people learn all they can from the scene of the crime quickly before it is disturbed.”

Her gaze runs from the eladrinto the hard head though it is only the slightest flicker of her yes that give it away

“Time if of the essence here so your haste would be appreciated”

She pauses and then continues speaking

“Should direct examination of the corpse fail there are other ways...”

“Alright,” said Nero, scanning his attention between everyone – except Jall, who remained hidden. “We need to get this investigation underway. Annia, could you take the body back to the Mortuary and perform your autopsy? If you feel that magic is necessary, fine, but it’s imperative that the body is kept aside and unprocessed until this investigation is complete.”

He stopped and frowned at the corpse before turning his gaze onto Alathra. “You and I need to split up. I’ve a hunch on her attackers – whoever these men were, I’d bet gold to copper that they were supposed to kill her and take that locket. Obviously they failed. If my hunch is correct, they’re paying dearly for their failure. Can you check through the usual channels to see if anyone has located two or three corpses – probably male – with one or more of them having scratch marks on their faces?”

“As for me,” Nero swept his gaze over the Hive. “I’ll do what I do best. I’m going to stir up some trouble.” With that he departed in search of the man and child who still searched for their lost loved one. He found them outside a tavern, begging for coin or scraps of food and drink. “Let’s go inside and have a meal,” Nero suggested, ushering them into the tavern. “I found her,” Nero began only after they had ordered generous helpings of food and drink. “I’m afraid she was killed.” No need to sugar coat it, after five years of delivering bad news, Nero had learned that hesitance and gentle words often clouded a recipient’s mind, even installed false hope and built a platform that could lead to later, and worse, heart break. Just put the words out there, let people process them – even kids. Kids were often tougher than adults when it came to death.

The pair stared at Nero, their eyes shining as moisture built, but neither breached a tear. The boy smothered himself in a huge chunk of bread, while his father asked, “How did it happen?”

“She was attacked and stabbed in a local alley sometime last night.” Keep it clear and flat, Nero recited to himself.

“Why?” The boy asked.

“That’s what I’m going to find out, son,” Nero replied, passing the boy a smile and a dish of butter for his bread.

The father snorted. “Lim lim shit. No one gives a damn about us – why would you help us? Even the Hardheads will just ignore this, like they do everything else.”

“I’m not a Harmonium, friend,” Nero offered. “My name is Nero Urbane and I care very much that your wife’s murder is solved and that those responsible are punished for their crime. And no, before you accuse, I don’t want anything in return.”

The man suspiciously stared at Nero for a long while but didnÂ’t say anything.

“I need to ask you a few questions, if you don’t mind.”

[NeroÂ’s arch will continue after some other charactersÂ’ arches have grown.]

Annia attracts the attention of one of the zombies that roam around the hive and with its aid she begins to take the corpse back to the mortuary the sight of a dustman with a body would be nothing out of the ordinary in the hive.

Once she has arrived she takes the cadavar to a small cell away from the area of the mortuary whiich would be familiar to the public once there she lays the body out on a cold slab and with a basin of cold water begins to wash away her make up before she turns her attention to the body before her. Her manner is entierly functional and cooly efficent, she strips the woman naked and begins to make incisions into the skin examing the most obvious wounds before searching for any that may have been missed. Finally she uses a scapel Android slices the cadavar open to begin the long slow process of searching for any internal damage. The whole process would take just over two hours and she would stop and take careful note of the things she finds as she finds them.

After the physical examination has finished she would resort to the other tool at her disposal. Magic. With the utterance of a spell and the skill for raising the dead that a palemaster can muster she attempts to draw the girl's spirit back as a wraith.

(OOC: Will leave it there for now as obviously what the autopsy finds and wether she can summon the wraith and what if anything it can tell her is up to Nero.)

[Nothing is up to Nero! You decide what the autopsy found and if she can be raised as a wraith. Seriously, your entries are yours to do with what you like. You know the current evidence, and you know what is and isn't fun to add. So long as you don't blatantly contradict something that someone else has said, you're meant to add evidence as you see fit. So what does the autopsy yield?]

"Let's start with your full names, for the record," Nero asks the man.

"Label's Dram Coster," the man dejectedly answered, slumping back into his seat. "Boy's Rek Dramson."

"Not Coster?" Nero asked, tilting his head and eyeing the boy a bit.

"Adopted, yeah. Kinna was barren - didn't feel right to name him Coster," said the man, a tired frown creasing his lips.

"Kinna was your wife?" Nero confirmed.

"Kinna Coster, yeah. No maiden name," explained the man. "Never even set orbs on her 'fore the day we met, an' the Hive ain't a big place. She was so pretty, jus' sort o' stood out from the crowd. Couldn't help myself. Said hi, an' we were married in a week."

Nero turned his gaze back onto Dram. "That's a bit fast, isn't it?"

"Lots o' stuff 'bout Kinna was different. Was like she wanted to get right to the finish line and never run the race."

"What race?" Rek asked over a mouthful of food.

"Jus' a sayin', boy," said Dram. "After we were married Kinna would vanish from time to time. Sometimes gone for days, once gone for a whole week. Always came back smellin' pretty, not a speck o' dirt on her."

"Do you know where she disappeared to?" Nero asked.

"Nah. Tried followin' once an' lost her when she turned for the Lady's. Get my legs broke if I tried goin' there lookin' as I do, right? I asked her once, after the second time or so. She asked me if I trusted her an' avoided the question," said Dram, a new frown tugging at his lips.

"Did you trust your wife, Dram?" Asked Nero.

"Course!" The man sat erect, meeting Nero's eyes with less than convicted eyes. "Eh, maybe," he amended a moment later. Then released a submissive sigh, "Not an ounce. How could I? But I loved her, right as true."

Nero settled into silence for a few moments to take Dram's measure, examine his expression. He's being completely honest, he noted. Not trying to hide anything. Nero preferred interrogating clients during the immediate wake of tragedy, because even though it was a bit cold, it was the only time the client's emotional state would preclude subterfuge and dishonesty. More often than not people are simply too tired to avoid the truth while freshly grieving.

"What do you think she was doing?" Nero finally asked.

"Dunno."

"You must have come up with an idea or two during your marriage," encouraged Nero.

"Yeah," Dram said, eyeing Nero. "Yeah, guess I did. I always guessed that Kinna was one o' them fancy whores - erm, court- courtez-"

"Courtesans!" Rek chimed. "I learned that word!"

"Yeah, that's the one," said Dram, smiling at the boy. "Figured she worked for rich types in the Lady's, came here to find some sort o' escape, but had to go back and keep workin' every so often."

Nero's brows furrowed and he asked, "Did she ever return with money?"

Dram silently thought for a moment before he said, "Not that I 'member, no. Guess my idea don't hold water, eh?"

"I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss your idea, Rek," Nero replied and smiled between them. "One last question: When was the last time Kinna went away?"

"Maybe two weeks back, gone for couple o' days."

"Thank you, Dram. I'm going to look into a few things and get back to you. Please enjoy the meal." He nodded to the pair and rose.

"Yeah. Hope you find the bastards what did this," said Dram, tone lacking the anger to back the words.

"I always do," asserted Nero. "Lady's grace, Dram and Wrek." The eladrin departed the tavern, took a full left-to-right scan of the Hive before heading to Maelfina Sixthfinger's brothel.
