The Coven the Serpent is reclusive organisation, intent on research into the Ancient, historical texts and magical aspecte, often of the darker persuasion governing the Cage, portals and planes to which they lead. Due to this reclusiveness, this darker aspecte that non all have appreciation of, you will understand too, our desire to handle things with a certaine secrecy and circumspecte. It would seem you are more suitable ally than I had first anticipated, seeing the questions asked. That, or far less suitable and dumber than I had thought. Time will tell.
And to answer the questions, Mok'slyk, or Serpent as known a bit better is a truly ancient and enigmatic power whom some believe to be the very personification of arcane magic. It possesses god like powers, but not quite count as one, rather something else... If that is not enough to spark curiousity of any historian, then perhaps a certain tendecy to the dark things often allying with this one.
There are no portals not under the Lady of Pains control within the Sigil, City of Doors. At least not persistantly. The legend goes that the Lady of Pain engulfed a god of portals known as Aoskar and received his power to the gateways. However, if someone was to create their own or manipulate existing ones, they might be able to buy a few seconds or minutes loophole until Lady of Pain would bring the portal down with unwanted wrath. This is highly speculative as it is indeed dangerous thing to do under her watch, it would also require large quantities of supplies to overcome the protective barriers.
Regarding Mazes, simplest fact is to be a Minotaur, the have this impressive talent to know their way around mazes of any sorts. Every once in a while there have been a person or two that have escaped otherwise as well, however things are not as simple as one trick to get out. By latest theories there are more than dozen, perhaps even a hundred separate versions of mazes that are all different. I have witnessed escape from one and seen experiences of few others, none are one alike another.
