It was later that Barratiel thought again upon those moments, the letter to Sorath had made him think upon his friendship and that last test of the man and what he had told him before he had flown off to Krigala.
"Morals....all have differing morals....Sorath also....but this is my test not his...."
"I -do- give me word, Barratiel my oown folk...'eritage...is quite adamant on this...I...must admit tha' it's values 'ad...faded a bit....but tae prove me intent is true...full an' wiv all I am....I make this voow
"..fate will reveal wha's comin' Barratiel...but...I will say this.. should fate once claim me life...I -am- gladdened Naya 'as a sooul as yerself behind 'er"
"Hmm....Sorath was weak for love....I have not experienced the deepness of that emotion that he did, nor perhaps you both do...but.....please understand Kelth...I seek only to ensure that should anything befall you...before lawful wedlock...that Naya is not ....left .........well...her father and I would help her...but you see my point?"
"Aye...but...I am also a man tha ne'er would leave his responsibility in life....nae tha this will come tae be...but t'is truth "
"Nor was Sorath....but things change...or are not known at the time" He had made a wry smile and clapped a hand to Kelth's shoulder.
"In any event...Barratiel...I kin sense ye urge tae return tha precious light back tae 'oour' Lord....."
"That I do....I also ask you to say nothing of this last to Naya if you will....or the barest of detail. This is man to man hmm? or planetar to human..." and the planetar had barked a laugh, Kelth smiling in return with a sigh.
"Tha voow, aye? Ye wish me tae bite me tongue if she asks wha'we discussed? ...nae ask me tae lie...Barratiel...if nae required...I nae will speak o' it....tha' I kin promise..."
"Do not lie...not that...if she insists...feel at liberty......it is your decision in the end"
Barr took to the skies then, hovering above then, Naya has turned seeing him rise and stepped closer, seeing their talks ended.
"Safe journey...Barratiel...light guide ye...." Kelth smiled as he spoke those words "...feels nice"
Barr nodded and taking higher to the sky, waving hand to Naya'il "Be well child..we are done here....may Pelor light your paths...keep you both safe"

A messenger arrives at the Olde Foul Spirit Inn
"Parcel fer Kelth McEwan!" and there is a knocking at the Inn room door, the one Muriel had told the messenger that Kelth resided in.
When the door opens, checking that the man fits the desciption he was given, the messenger hands the parcel across to Kelth together with a sealed letter.
The man stands waiting, coughs politely, obviously waiting for payment for his delivery.

*with a growl and yawn, hearing the knocking, Kelth wanders over at the door, leaving Naya'il covered under the sheets*
Parcel? fer me? *Kelth arched a dark brow, his black manes spread about, the Kelth out of bed look, scratching his head in a lazy manner*
'old on lad...*as he accepted the parcel and letter, wandering to his pack to retrieve some coin for the man, leaving the door half closed, returning to pay the man and give him a wee tip*
'ave a fine day lad...*Kelth nodded as he closed the door*
*Regarding Naya with a puzzled look, Kelth proceeded to crawl back into the bed and opened the sealed letter, scraping his throat as he read it...*

The letter reads:
Kelth,
For your courage, endurance, commitment and heart, I give these to you. They were gift to me many years ago from an old friend, a wanderer who spent many a time on the Prime plane from whence you hail. He gave them to me before his passing as a reminder that every path under the sun should be walked in the wisdom of the past and they have aided me many a time, finding them useful to avoid enemy attacks. Now they are yours to use and help you on your path.
In my eyes, you have proved your worth and I have sent word to Sorath saying as much. With these, I also give to you the means to call upon my aid at times of dire need, you will figure out how.
Pelor's sun of mercy shine upon you,
Barratiel

* Kelth's lips parted as he blinked and made a soft gasp, reading the letter*
...Barratiel...*he spoke softly*
*the precious pair of boots which were placed in the parcel were not the thing that touched him the most...it was the tone in Barratiels letter and clear display of acceptance that touched Kelth...accompanied with a promise...a promise that caused goosbumps over his skin...-her- guardian offering him the gift of being a battlebrother in dire need? ...who would have ever thought of that? this...was a gift to be carried deeply in the heart...*
May Pelor behoold hoow I will 'onor this gift in tha abyss soon...
*Kelth, smiling fondly at Naya, handed her the letter to read as he regarded those boots*
Sun shine upon ye....friend....*Kelth murmured as Barratiel appeared in his thoughts*

Sorath has decided on the final task for Kelth. A letter is delivered to Kelth:
wrote:
To Kelth McEwan,
Greetings to you in the name of Pelor, the Shining Lord.
It has come to my attention that you are courting my daughter, Naya`il. As I have also heard, you already have successfully completed the tasks set before you by Barratiel, Naya`s godfather who is her chosen guardian due to my absence in the service of Pelor.
First of all, I want to thank you for braving the horrors of the prison plane Carceri to bring back one of the Dawnshard artifacts. This alone is a deed worthy of praise, but I also thank you for ensuring Naya`s safety in that cursed place and bringing her back uninjured. I would not have allowed her to enter that place, but I trust Barratiel`s judgement.
Naya has asked my blessing for your union. I would not stand in the way of her happiness, but I also can not take lightly the holy bonds of marriage.
Know then the two conditions for my blessing:
Firstly: You must swear on your very soul to never commit an act that is evil in the sight of Pelor, my lord whose armies I lead.
Secondly: You must henceforth worship Pelor first and foremost as your deity. If the Goddess Morrigan demands your undivided attention, you must swear off her so as to worship Pelor exclusively.
You will swear both these conditions witnessed by Naya`il and a properly ordained priest of Pelor, who shall sign and seal a parchment containing his report to be sent to me. Sigil has a number of Pelorite priests, though I do not have current knowledge who is the most highly ranking of them at this time.
These are my conditions. I await your answer.
In the name of the Sun Lord,
Sorath
General in the celestial army of holy Pelor

* Kelth sat in their room, focused, at the desk...leaving Naya'il to do her own things in their room...he wrote a reply...his mind filled with his own voice in his thick accent...but making effort to write as decent as possible to the man who...provided these requests were met...would become...his...father in law*

Greetings to you, in the name of our most radiant Lord...
Allow me, at first, to thank you from my deepest being for your time and effort to compose your message to me...I am aware of your task and surely, most of your time, feelings and thoughts will be on it...
Barratiel placed upon me various tests indeed...yet I can not help to believe that these tests were meant to prove more than just the sincereness with which I am courting your daughter, it also brought me insight and understanding...in the case Barratiel did not send word of this yet...I have casted my bindings to Morrigan away out of my own free will and begun with consuming the literature on our Shining Lord.
I will connect this to your requests, though bear in mind...both of your requests I will honour and gladly meet...for not only do they pave the path to a future with Naya'il...they also complete me as individual and confirm my chosen path...
Surely, recognition from a high priest and swearing my oath to Pelor, including never to commit to evil, will only fortify my fresh bond with our Lord and confirm my breaking of bonds with Morrigan...for she -is- demanding...
I shall begin search of a high priest of Pelor and ensure you shall recieve his report of this...
As for returning the relic and returning Naya'il unharmed...it is -me- who thanks you and yours for this chance to aid a cause far greater than any I stood for in life...I devoted myself to train Naya'il as best I could in the arts of battle...to aid in strengthening her and able to stand her own ground, yet never did nor will I, neglect my task of protection...knowing that Barratiel is required elsewhere and given the position I do desire to have in her life...which will have me protect her, without treating her as were she incapable of standing her own ground, untill my very blood would run dry...
I thank you for your open mind and open attitude...and hope my reply comes to you on swift winds...
Thank you, Sorath...
May our Radiant Lord bless your battles and one day...shine upon us as we meet eye to eye...
I will await that day and pray that you will maintain victorious in glorious battle...

Warrior poet

This letter is sealed with a coat of arms bearing a mace breaking through darkened clouds. The head of the mace blazes with flames, resembling a stylized, stern-faced sun.
To Kelth McEwan, Warrior Poet,
Pelor's blessings upon you and may his light illumine your path.
While service to the Sun Father continues to keep me far from home, I have monitored your progress from afar as my duties have permitted. I am pleased to say that you have made an impression upon both Barratiel, and upon Father Lukas, who felt moved to deliver your missive to me with his own hands.
I hope that you will forgive Father Lukas for his last bit of subterfuge during your admission to the church. He is a good man, devout in his faith and fervent in his belief in helping others to shine light on their darkest places.
It is with a glad heart that I commend Naya'il unto you with such blessing as I can give. May you grow in Pelor's radiance; may you stand firm against they darkness of corruption; and may you nurture, protect, and love one another all your days.
Yours in service to the Shining One,
Sorath of Pelor

Before she left for Piri's grove, Naya penned a short letter to Sorath, hopeful of it finding him without too much delay, but unknowing where he was currently carrying out his duties. From scout to celestial winged messenger, she could only trust in the route as she had trusted before.
Sorath,
I seek your advice as celestial and father. I am tasked to aid an acquaintance that calls upon use of a portion of celestial blood..mine. To use it, would potentially help to split two souls, one good, one evil, to save both. My conscience says I should offer what aid I can to save two lives but this blood is of your blood, and I know not the consequences of offering something of our familiy line and heritage or the risks in so doing. I would ask, before I simply offer and use though my instinct is to help - if one good soul is freed and kept alive in the giving then this is a good act.
With respect, and love and may Pelor by his light guide you safely in your works,
Naya'il

To Naya'il,
I am glad to hear of you, daughter. I trust you are well. Our campaign is in a crucial stage, and I do not have much time, but I will try to give you counsel in this matter.
I believe that our blood bestows us some wisdom that will reveal itself if only you listen and contemplate it. I do not know the details of this magical ritual that you are involved in, so I will trust your own judgment that the consequences of going through with the ritual will not lead to greater disaster, nor that you are being tricked.
Provided that the ritual is not a ruse of some sort, I would say for myself that I would go through with it. In the creation myths of some worlds, the gods create only one person in the beginning, so for a time that one person is the entirety of sentient life of that world. If you killed that primal being, it would be as if you killed the entire population that would spring from him. So, it can also be said that saving one soul is as saving an entire world.
That the act of freeing that one good soul also frees something evil is regrettable, but the saving of that other one has precedence, is my opinion. In any case, I trust your judgment on this matter. Your blood is yours after all, and you are free to do with it as you wish.
Take my love, Naya'il.
In Pelor's name,
Sorath
