A few days later the captain wakes the two halflings- the sun shining, a warm breeze blowing. Songs of birds fill the air and there is a scent of flowers and warm pine needles, subtle and relaxing.
The boat lands on the beach, white sand and pebbles grinding under the vessels wood and their arrival did not go unnoticed. A tall man in loose silks waves at them and he is not alone- it seems there is a group of petitioners and locals nearby, enjoying the peaceful beach, grilling fish over fire.
Not far away, under a crooked, gnarled tree a bluish vortex appears and a sour looking gatecrasher stumbles from the portal, focusing to keep it open to let the sensates pass through it as well.
They are greeted by a yelp, a nearby couple startled by their sudden arrival, trying to cover themselves with their robes, the mood ruined.
" Not nice! To jump on people like this, opening portals just like so!" the woman complains, brushing a branch from her coppery hair.
