"All's well that ends well then?" Verdant pauses. "Why Celestia?"

Emila shakes her head.

"No as I understand it, and I think I understand it she did that herself."

"If you hurry to the portal you may still catch her, I have just come from there she won't have gotten far."

Verdant seems somewhat uncomfortable, but nods resolutely. A flicker of his eyes indicates he can see the creature as well.

The group enters the mortuary and there is some tension- in the way the Dustmen move, the way the undead stop and follow them with their gazes as they pass by.

It is dark, the air stale and the smell of embalming fluid cannot fully cover the smells of decay and death that fills the whole structure.

Some stairs lead deeper into the structure and the everburning torches are repaced by the natural yellow glow of some mosses and rare, pale blue glowing glowglobes. The descent is dangerous, the stairs slick and polished from the centuries of use they saw.

A door follows, wood entwined with bones, skulls worked into the surface and the blue light in their eye sockets show that they are more than grisly decoration.

From somewhere (the shadows, above or just the thin air itself?) a pretty yet pale woman appears, her robes fluttering around a frail, thin body, her skin and hair almost translucent, her big milky eyes filled with unending melancholy.

"I fear you must stay here with me.", she says as she approaches Verdant. "What is in there is not for your eyes to see, your mind to experience."

Her voice turns every word into a song but it is a song of sadness, of loss. Verdant feels that while she might be more pleasant then most in this building she is still what most would call a monster.

"You cling to life and behind this doors is only death and suffering.", she says as the door moves like a living thing, the bones unfulding to move the wooden parts around Emila, demon and the captive, like a gullet filled with long boney spears swallowing them.

"Come... I will show you a place where you can wait." She smiles but for all its friendlyness it can only evoke more sadness in Verdant's heart.

Verdant swallows a gulp, the surroundings making him uncomfortable. Desire to know what is going on surges in him for a moment, but it is tempered by the hard-won wisdom that some things are best left unlearned, or forgotten.

With a sigh as Emila and the others proceed onwards, Verdant nods to the woman. "Very well."
