Arwyl remains calm, perhaps dangerously so as if repressing something.

"I shall not patronise you by quoting the fifth tennent of Justice but I will ask you to be mindful of it. You ask how I feel so I will tell you. That this man killed those of our order angers me. I would like nothing more than to see him brought to Justice. However I am aware that the Temple of the Abyss poses am even greater challenge to justice, more so than anyone man can. I know it is a foe that has eluded us many times and now we have a chance to strike against it in a way that we have not had before. So I shall take my anger, I shall take what I feel and I will put it aside. I shall put my faith in my vows and my duty. So I would advise that if this will help your operation against the temple to use it to the full."

He regards the drow fully and his gaze is as ever piercing as if he sees everything that she would want hidden.

I would also suggest that should you observe or find anything that makes Mauric easier to find, the next time he breaks the law and it is only a matter of time until he does, or sheds evidence as to some other crime that is not covered by this agreement with the Guvners that you act upon it."

The dark elf nodded. "I will, Factor. As for the operation, I request my unit and a handful of volunteers to be on standby. Arresting the target may prove to be dangerous. That is all."

[*Midnight]

"Of course. This must succeed. They won't die in vain. Dismissed Justicar."

The half elven man considers. His lips twitch into a small smile. He is very unlike what one would expect off a hardhead. There is no bluster, he doesn't try to assert his opinion instead he calmly asks:

"What do you think Measure? How vital will Mauric"s testimony be to convicting Noshrano and his lieutenants? Which do you think is a greater threat to Harmony, Mauric, or the entire hierarchy of the temple? Should we let Mauric go now will we be able to simply catch him again? Can we say the same of Noshrano?"

The questions are all asked in a neutral tone. His pale green eyes study the paladin's face. He seems genuinely interested in her opinion as opposed to asking rhetorically. He gestures to a decanter on his desk.


"Would you care for some wine?"

Charae returned to the Prison to speak with Factor Awryl Swan's Son. The dark elf knocked and entered, then made her way to his desk to greet the aged paladin. "Greetings Factor. I've returned from my meeting with Measure Chari and Guvner Guunt."

[*Midnight]

The paladin is found as usual in the prison's lobby.

"Excellent. What have you planned and what resources will you need?"

[*LiquidDreamer]

Chari thinks over the points that are raised.

"Unfortunately, we won't be able to make a case without Mauric. I do not like giving a free pass to someone that killed on of our comrades, that is all. If we give Mauric a pass on this, I am afraid of the message this might send to others.

I am not sure what to do Sir, I am torn."

[*Midnight]

Caine considers.

"It is a difficult situation yes Measure. On one hand Mauric has killed, but The Temple of the Abyss have killed too. In fact they have come into The Barracks and killed a prisoner under your care in a cell. I think not taking action against them sends another message.

You are a Measure not a Notary. With your rank and its privileges comes the responsibility to make decisions. I faith in your ability to command so I will not tell you what to do.

His tone remains neutral making it probable that what he says next is not a rebuke but a simple statement of fact.

"However if my faith is misplaced and you do not feel able to see this operation through I can have you relieved of command and someone else take your place."

"Then we have no choice but to allow Mauric to have his immunity. Do not mistake my reluctance to agree to this immunity as a weakness Sir." She says this sweetly with a warm smile to make sure it isn't taken the wrong way.

"I am used to smiting all evils. No exceptions. Making an exception for the likes of Mauric does not sit well with me. Not trading a lesser for a possible greater, as it stands now, there is no guarantee that Noshano will take the bait. Both should be prosecuted however politics is not my strong point, hence the reason for the meeting earlier with the higher ranking officers.

Also, I wanted to make sure that giving immunity to Mauric doesn't upset yourself or your superiors. I do not want to bring undue criticism to the men and women under my command."

She rises from her seat. "I believe that covers it. Let the higher ups know of the current predicament, my latest reports haven't been filed yet." She stands, waiting until she is dismissed.

[*Midnight]

"I will stand by your decision. Remember though Measure you are an officer of The Harmonium first and a paladin second, do not allow your personal feelings to obscure your duty. Dismissed."
