New Crisis in the Hive

AmakuÂ’s troops successfully infiltrate the Hive, but all attempts to hold the roads into the other Wards are completely thwarted by the superior numbered Doomguard Separatists who are already holding them. Revolutionary soldiers do their best to scatter the Doomguard watch, but they inevitably return to their posts to disperse anyone else lingering in the area and continue their harassment and screening of those trying to enter the Hive. No one is harassed upon exiting.

The Harmonium are able to assemble squads on the far ends of the roads, within the other Wards, but any attempt to approach the Hive itself is met with swift and violent action from the Doomguard.

The gangs Amaku attempts to coerce resist, and she’s only able to sway a bare handful of gang members. The others resolutely refuse to have absolutely anything to do with her or her men, their resistance clearly motivated by fear of The King. They frantically promise that they won’t reveal her presence in the Hive – but their honesty is questionable.

Of the people leaving the Hive and caught by the Harmonium soldiers, there are mostly commoners fleeing the violence of the ward. Some few Xaiosiects cartwheel by, and occasionally a Dustman or Athar departs to attend their duties in other wards. There arenÂ’t any determinable Doomguard or Revolutionaries, and even the offer of amnesty gleans nothing aside from a desperate need to seek refuge.

While Amaku and her men go about her machinations, the other two factionsÂ’ soldiers begin to take note despite their keeping to alleys and other subterfuge. It doesnÂ’t look as if anyone suspects anything just yet, but itÂ’s clear that her time within the Hive is limited and she needs to work quickly before she and her squad are discovered.

The orcs in the hive appear to be loving the state of things, revelling in the needs of the people in this time of desperation.

The Aberttoire appears to have been filled with the skinned bodies of humanoids who have tried to involve the orc bloods in the goings on and it seems the orcs take delight in cooking some of these bodies out in the open for all to see and consume the flesh whilst offering some to the hungry locals.

"Nuffink like a good war!" The Warchief cheers as he gores the flesh off the cooked face of a human skull before raising it up into the air.

Meanwhile the Shadow Templar taskforce begin gathering their intel on Doomguard seperatist bases of operations and where they all gather to sleep, eat, take orders and the like.

A merchant sets up near the Orks, if possible, selling T-Shirts, Mugs, and Hallucinogenic Toads.

He gives he Orks a "cut" if it's a reasonable amount, for a bit of protection

Sibuna, hearing of the state of things, resolved to do what a wandering protector of the innocent ought to.

She warded herself, only with spells lacking distinct auras, which happened to be a great many of them.

Then she went into the Hive looking for trouble.

Amaku and her troop begin the search for the King, she involves contacts she knows collaborate with the Harmonium for leads to the hideout of the self-proclaimed barmy.

She sends her main squad to assure these people protection and quiet evacuation from the hive to make sure the King cant silence them for their actions. She then proceeds with a significantly smaller vanguard, to track down the fellow.

-------

All this fire riling and blaze caused Ravage to laugh with quiet amusement. The Sinker watched the chaos weaving in the Hive and orchestrated small little niches to assure that it continued to worsen for the forces within.

She started by pointedly accusing several rogue Sinkers of murdering children in the orphanage. A blatant lie to be sure, but with their already damaged reputation she made sure it would grow significantly worse for them.

She turned then to the Anarchs who she tipped smaller and less significant cells to the locations of Harmonium outposts she had spotted. By doing this she assured both factions would take a hit to their troops as infighting began.

She then informed a Mercykiller Justicar on patroll of the sheer severity of the situation. She made it clear to the man that it was clear that only a military crackdown of the Hive could assure the city was at peace.

Then, she sat down and watched the world burn.

------

Namer Zoel watched the situation in the Hive with growing intensity in her glare. Any moment now she suspected her faction would call a Lawful Crusade against these heretical anarchists and sinkers. They were the plague, the scourge of battle eagerly wishes to see purged from the city of doors.

She longed for an excuse to be unleashed on them, one word, and she would without hesitation, begin the executions.

In all the chaos of the Hive, The House of Six Fingers, and the surrounding housing and shops of those with personal connections to the establishment, along with those under its protection, remains an area of relative stability for the moment. Any attempt to coerce tavern-owners or shopkeepers under the protection of Maelfina Sixthfinger and her business is met with apparent and outward acquiescence, followed by swift intercession on their behalf by the well-armed and well-trained militia of the House. No bodies are left on open display as a deterrent, the offending individuals are simply "dissapeared". If the King's operatives investigated thoroughly, they might recognize a few familiar faces amongst the orcs' recent stock of meat. Rogue Anarchs seeking to cause damage or trouble in the area are treated with equal hostility.

The House remains open for business to all comers, and travel through her district is unrestricted, even to those whose allegiance to the "King" is widely known. Regular patrons would note a visible increase in security both at the House and the surrounding area, as the majority of the House's militia is withdrawn from outlying jobs or tasks to more effectively prevent and respond to any acts of hostility toward those under the House's protection.

Refugees fleeing the violence between the "King" and the Anarchs are offered temporary housing where it is available in exchange for manual labor in helping to erect new housing to manage the overflow.

As the body count rises and the chaos increases Annia restricts her searches for bodies to the hive focusing her attention to the hive. Having lived there since childhood she uses her knowledge to creep along the quiet back streets and dark alleys that would confound anyone unfamiliar with the labyrinth of twisting turning narrow paths. As she goes she reanimates each and every corpse she finds. As she wanders from one scene of devastation to the other the trail of corpses grows until they walk behind her in perfect silent lock step wearing the tattered uniforms of doomgaurd sepratists, revolutionary league solders, harmonium enforcers and the rags of civilians unfortunate enough to be caught in the middle of the fighting. All former foes now united in common cause the streets around them silent save the trudge of perfectly synchronised marching feet.

At the head of the procession Annia walks calmly a small smile crossing her ever serene face as in her own way she brings a strange order to the chaos. The large group of undead would walk towards The Mortuary, one there they would not go inside instead they would form a perimeter around the mortuary their old weapons still in hand and although they would not interfere with the fighting they would not permit any combatants to come close to The Mortuary any who came close would be faced by the grim lifeless eyes of their erstwhile comrades.

Alicia
AliciaÂ’s escorts proceed with little to no incidents. The various hostiles throughout the Hive appear far more interested in fighting one another than harassing the young tiefling or refugees.

The Orcs
The orcs also suffer little trouble, until a dead Doomguard is recognized among their stock. This incites a brief, but violent confrontation with the SinkerÂ’s former companions. The ensuing skirmish is quick and bloody, with the orcs emerging victorious but not without losing a hefty number.

The Shadow Templar
The Doomguard have little trouble infiltrating the Separatists and eking out their bases and movements. It appears that most of them operate in cells that are located throughout the Hive, bunkered in the cellars of the loyalist taverns, or within the more fortifiable houses. The main base of operations is an entire alley thatÂ’s been occupied and blockaded. The neighboring buildings are heavily patrolled and the rooftops are rife with look outs and snipers. Even the Anarchs havenÂ’t been able to near the Separatist stronghold. Additionally the Templar have discovered that most of the Separatists are genuinely loyal to the King and espouse his avenue to destruction as their own.

Toad Merchant
A group of young and interested Separatists try out this new hallucinogenic toad and immediately stupor into inebriation. The cadre soon joins the neighboring orcs for fun and revelry, gaily laughing and enjoying their new friendsÂ’ company until being sniped to death by unseen Anarchs.

Sibuna
The cleric is immediately turned back at the gates by Separatists due to her not being, or appearing, remotely poor or belonging to the Hive. Any protests and or threats she makes is met with hostility from the entire squad until she resigns and returns to whence she came.

Amaku
Her actions turn up no clues at all regarding The KingÂ’s whereabouts. What she does discover is that no one seems to know who or what he is. No one honestly claims to have ever seen him, but to only receive instructions via letters that mysteriously appear in place of coffers, purses, and other valuables. One tavern keeper is willing to give her a copy of the letter in which The King explains that non-Hivers will no longer be suffered in Hive taverns, and should any tavern keeper be caught serving drinks to non-Hivers, heÂ’ll lose everything to The KingÂ’s thefts.

Ravage
RavageÂ’s rumor mongering regarding the Sinkers is all but ineffective, as thereÂ’s really no one to listen or care. The locals have bunkered down or fled, and the few taverns that remain open are empty save for the tavern keepers and a handful of meaningless drinkers. The most likely target for the rumor would be the Anarchs, but theyÂ’re engaged in their counter-measures and not really privy to social manipulation at the moment.

Her attempts to bait the Anarchs are equally fruitless as they know better than anyone that the Harmonium have little to no presence in the Hive even when itÂ’s not a warzone. They continue their campaign against the Separatists.

She would have to leave the Hive to find the closest Mercykiller, who would only laugh at her and tell her that she should go find her next fix. Any other Mercrykillers she approached would regard her with equal dismissal.

Ultimately, Ravage is forced to wonder if maybe one crazed-looking womanÂ’s attempts at rumor mongering isnÂ’t enough to actually cause any sort of real discord.

Zoel
The Mercykillers have yet to issue an order to pacify and occupy the Hive.

Maelfina
Much like the Shadow Templars, Maelfina discovers that the tavern keepers are under duress by a faceless threat and not in any actual danger from the Separatists. This explains the difficulty she has in imposing her protection on her local tavern keepers, as they maintain that she can’t possibly protect them from The King’s thefts. However, one keeper does agree to normally operate, should she protect him – and is mysteriously vanished by the next day. Rumors of the strange disappearance quickly circulate among other tavern keepers who immediately bolster their attempts to placate the King’s demands.

Likewise, for every Separatist that MaelfinaÂ’s enforcers kill, she loses a dancer. There isnÂ’t any evidence, save the magical residue of teleportation after each kidnapping. Otherwise, MaelfinaÂ’s succeeds in her attempt to stabilize her immediate surroundings and offer solace to the Hivers who have remained.

Annia
Annia is left unmolested by the fighting men on both sides, though she’s still subject to collateral damage. Several of her parade members are obliterated by explosions, others are burned to a crisp by fires and falling pitch. Once she’s established her perimeter the soldiers on both sides keep a healthy distance – but so do the few remaining Hivers.

The Crisis
The Separatists have suffered heavy losses and have resorted to more careful fighting. The battles have reduced to controlled skirmishes, with the Separatists also adopting guerilla tactics against known Anarch strongholds and patrols. Death rates have slowed under the new, careful direction of the Separatists but property damage has doubled and the already ramshackle Hive is subjected to growing fires and destruction.

The King's operatives would find it relatively difficult to teleport anyone in or out of the House of Six Fingers, given the thorough warding the place has been given to prevent just that, along with many other forms of magical incursion. Those few such abductions that manage to succeed due to being carried out within the housing complexes, result in the immediate circulation of uncannily detailed descriptions of the abductors in all of the common haunts and kips of the Cage's bounty-hunters with fat prices attached. Almost as though even the houses where her employees live are under continual magical surveillance of an unknown sort. (PM if you have questions about that)

Shortly after a few of her employees go missing, Dimensional Lock and alarm wards are placed on her housing complexes, and renewed daily by her staff mages, to stymie any further attempts at magical abduction.

Meanwhile, Separatists would have an extremely difficult time trying to further intimidate or extract information from her former employees and their allies living in her quarter, as the vast majority view the Mistress of the House of Six Fingers as their savoir, or at the very least an individual to which they owe much and more. Some might be willing to passively cooperate with the King's agenda, but next to none show themselves as willing to act against their patroness.

As fresh recruits bolster the ranks of her militia, savvy bashers across the Anthill are left to wonder whether Maelfina will merely hunker down to weather out this storm, or if all that preparation is the wind-up before the punch.
