We have to find the rift.... can you sense where it is? Underground, in one of the buildings....?

He tries to stay out of sight for the moment, keeping away from the windows and being careful to stay on the roof, out of sight from the street level troops.

And what all are even here? Just the regulars, or those...what were they, Uvuu-somethings?

"There could be a rift there, the must have got here somehow unless they just came through a portal. I don't know exactly what type but there are a lot of far realm beings concentrated here.

Dace attempts to fly to the location of the portal through which the Reds were said to have come in from.

[/I] Besides the Uvuu's then... what else could there be? What sort of things can they do besides just possess people?

Dace cannot see a portal or anything resembling one.

"They're an advanced guard. They'll have trouble holding a form in your multiverse. That is why they favour possession, a host something from here that insulates them against it. There are a lot of spell casters amongst them. They are good at spreading their realms taint making places like here stable for a full scale invasion. I think that is what they do at The Gatehouse. Draw people into the collective consciousness there."

How do they spread the taint? Using glyphs like Rannia's? Or do they just....I don't know, generate this wierdness around them?

With no sign of the portal, Dace prepares to leave the area, having possibly pushed his luck far enough for one day.

"They flood the place with the far realm. If enough of them are concentrated in one place it will do, anything that disrupts this realms natural order. I don't think the barmy tiefling is directly related to them."

The next day Dace returns to the ward using the same tricks. This time, he focuses on finding out who and what is in the newly constructed guard towers, as well as trying to note which streets are less heavily secured. He also looks out for magical traps.

Allright, so....if we take out the Spell slingers at some point, this taint should reverse itself, right? Or do we have to go after every single possessed bugger for that?

After the escapade of the previous day, Dace would notice that there are double the number of Mercykillers present on the ground. The guard towers are manned by four people each. Some wield crossbows of Mechanus design, others composite bows of dark wood.

"Yes, or just kill enough of them. It is when you get a large concentration like this they are strongest here."

Like cranium rats then...

He pulls out without going too far into the encampment.

Are you going to tell me what was in there that freaked you out so much?

"A little bit like cranium rats yes, except that instead of making them smarter a large concentration of them just makes the place like The Far Realm. I wouldn't say it exactly freaked me out, but the camp in The Lady's Ward, and The Gatehouse are completely saturated. Won't be long now."
